  1. A good friend of my father, a veteran of Italy used to sing a song to the tune of 'Lilli Marlene' which went.." We're the D Day Dodgers out in Italy, always on the vino always on a spree....". So history is repeating itself right here on these forums. D Day overshadowing Italy. This is a damned good game. Takes you from the lushness? of north western France to the rugged beauty and heat of dusty Sicily and the freezing cold of the winter Italian mountains. I have spent many happy hours while my poor pixel troopers in greatcoats and gloves slogged their way up snowy or rainy rocky hillsides and now it's sad to see this poor old forum lying here unloved and forgotten, just as Italy was 1943-1945.

  2. Here is a better example, Bruce.

This is just one squad. Now imagine this multiplied by 100 for a Huge battle. Don't know about you, but I really don't want to see those "Casualty" markers. It's just screen clutter. I know some want it, so a toggle to turn it on or off should be provided, IMO.

Thanks Doug. I haven't got around to upgrading yet and I was just wondering what the UI looked like. Yes the option to turn it off/on would be good.

  3. And I dislike this feature because it makes the screen look cluttered and the Casualty icons look too similar to the lightly wounded icons. This needs a toggle, and yes I'm going to keep bringing it up ad infinitum.

But, as to the OP's question, yes, the 3.0 upgrades do add to gameplay. The AI triggers alone are probably worth it for those who like to play scenarios against the AI.

Upgrades are a no brainer for me, simply because 99% of my PBEM opponents always purchase them, so if I want to continue to play PBEMs, I need to also purchase them.

Would anyone who has upgraded be prepared to upload a screenshot of this new display? Thanks in advance.

  4. No one can say all the good/bad men were on one side or the other. My old Grandad used to say, "Not all Americans are cowboys and not all Germans are U Boat captains." In the end it just came down to the same old 'common' men of both sides who were fighting because the men who ran their countries at that particular time, told them they had to.

I made two - day and night ambient - of course typical situation for D-Day - the-aircraft gunfire "acht acht coma", Flakvierling 38, the sounds of bombing and a lot of other effects;)

ps. if you have any suggestions, I can all change / improve

ps2. test in the game, at least a few turns - then you judge yourself if everything is as it should be

    Brilliant!! Thank you.
