If you want a team to Pop Smoke, then bug out, plot their movement points and the Pause (to allow deployment and development of smoke) before you do the "Face-Pop" combo. If you do the Face-Pop command first, the direction of the Face can be changed by the direction of the move order you give, and if you don't notice this, the smoke could be discharged in a useless direction, or if you do, you'll have to redo Face-Pop...
Not sure I fully understand... can you please describe it another way?
Thank you,

UPDATE... Looks like after about 30 seconds into the last turn C2 was in fact restored so I guess it's safe to safe that Battlefront has modeled some some interesting details into the game! Agree that it would be nice to have some sort of more obvious indicator when this happens.

I know movement sometimes causes people to fall out of radio contact. Are all of your C2 elements static for a turn or two?
The tanks I mentioned were all HQ's and yes they have been static for a few turns. And like I said at the start of a turn all was fine, then in the middle of the turn the C2 status changed.
The only ones that have moved were some of the subordinate elements of 1st platoon... but once again no movement from 1st platoon HQ, A company HQ, or 1st battalion HQ.
I'll have to see if C2 gets restored in subsequent turns. If so then I suppose Womble is on to something.

I have elements of a light tank battalion:
1st battalion > A company > 1st platoon > subordinate elements - all with working radios.
At the beginning of the turn chain of command was solid all the way down. By the end of the turn 1st platoon was still in command with 1st battalion, but had a broken chain of command with A company... What is really strange is that none of my tanks moved throughout the whole turn or took any fire or buttoned up, etc. Also, 1st platoon is closer to A company than to 1st battalion!
Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

I understand an that an HQ with a +2 leadership bonus might have a very positive influence over subordinate units, but what does effect do you think an individual subordinate unit with a +2 bonus do?

I'm in the middle of two PBEM's and me and my opponents agreed to patch up to the new version halfway through the games. In both games I'm hearing planes and rockets throughout the whole turn and in one game I get a fatal error when I hit the red button and in the other game it makes it to the save screen but when I hit save everything just freezes.
Any ideas?

Anyone know what happens if you already have an indirect fire mission planned for an on board mortar team and you issue a direct fire order to the same unit during the 'receiving', 'preparing' and/or 'firing' phases of the indirect fire mission?

Understand there aren't any hard and fast rules as each game/map/circumstances will be different but wanted to know everyone's opinion and tips on purchasing units...
Just a few questions I have:
Do you NEED the operations or an XO team of an HQ? Aside from saving on purchase points are there any other benefits? What are the draw backs?
If you purchase an HQ that is green but it's subordinate units are veteran or better what are the implications and effects of that HQ on it's subordinate?

Does anyone know for sure if your infantry are more protected positioned behind a vehicle? And does it make a difference weather the vehicle is damaged or undamaged?
Thank you,

Just face the unit first, then set the cover arc. Atleast thats what I do.
An ok work around I suppose... however it will require two turns during a WEGO game.

Why is it the 'face' command is disabled when I have a cover arc set for my tanks? Seems like a logical game function to be able to have your turret pointed one direction and have the hull face another direction for the sake of more desirable angles in a defensive position. In CMx1 it was never a problem to issue these types of orders.
Thoughts?

Can someone please explain some of the ins and outs of purchasing units? I'm familiar with CMx1 and how to get the most out of purchasing units in that platform, but I am just baffled here.
Some things I'm confused about:
1. Why are there two columns for my 'point's account? I thought I had a handle on rarity but here I just don't understand why there are two costs for everything.
2. Why is it when I click on specialist teams I can't purchase anything?
3. When tweaking the skill level, fitness, etc of units, what does selecting 'typical' mean?
Any info and tips you want to share would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Not sure how these units are to be used in game... they don't seem to carry any ammo that I can tell. If they are near their respective MG or mortar team do those teams get some sort of performance bonus?
Any thoughts, opinions or facts are graciously welcomed.

Simply put, can I add a pause in between movement commands/way points? If so how?

Can someone please explain the use of these units? I don't have a military background but I did understand the chain of command aspect of CM1. I'm finding this more realistic version is confusing and hard to manage especially when you have more than 1 or 2 platoons.
Thanks,

Drew, did you find any opponents? If you want another one, PM me or reply back.

i plotted a way point for my tank to go along the edge of the map and it just drove off and never came back during the whole minute of play. will it come back? it wasn't routed or panicked.

Me and a friend are going to both play the same QB and see who does better against the AI. In order to avoid the predictable nature of the AI set up, I would like to have an experienced human player do it instead.
There will be a few restrictions, which I will outline in an email with the attached QB file. It will be very simple... Examine the map, purchase units and place them with the best of your judgment and send the file back to me.
Any takers? Just email me at markpirro@yahoo.com.

i cant seem to effectively advance infantry units over open spaces. i use cover as much as possible and i use concentrated fire on known enemy positions. however, it always seems a hidden unit pops up and pins down my advancing unit. i've tried smoke screens, but they aren't always an option. any suggestions on moving under these contitions? i find it especially hard to advance mg units or mortor units because of the lack of 'advance or assault' commands.
thanks
