  1. Glad to see the forum back online ... Damn, looks like my postcount back from the days when the Dangerous Waters subforum was alive is gone ... that sucks.
  2. Great ... hopefully the transfer to vBulletin will work out without too much trouble. I worked with a vBulletin board since about 2001 (Transfered from UBB to vBulletin myself) and can only say ... its a nice and well maintained as well as very comfortable system. Hopefully you guys have some good PHP coders on your hands ... that way you can add the stuff the vB community hasn't yet created and tie in other things where needed.
  3. Amen to that. On a sidenote, personally I prefer the modern setting, from the Vietnam time onward - I'm just not into WW2. So, yep I like CMSF, I prefer Dangerous Waters over SH3 (or SH4 for that matter), I don't play CFS3 but have F4AF and Janes FA-18 installed. The books are written on WW2 ... lets do some lessons learned and carry on. Besides, each new conflict has its own problems with which to deal.
  4. Good idea BlackMuzzle. Actually when I first fired up the game before having a close look at the manual I tried to click the images of the launcher/missiles to assign them to a squad. After nothing happens and some reading in the manual I found out about the Aquire Command (till then I thought "Aquire" had something to do with aquiring targets). Anyway, using the already existing buttons would be nice, and it would do away with one command "Aquire" and at the same time make the UI more intuitive.
  5. I never played one of the previous titles of the series before, simply because I'm not really a WW2 buff. Anyway, at the moment my only gripes are about the bugs (pathfinding mostly, fortunatly the game runs ok on my system) and to a small extend about the UI. I do like the system with the different tabs, works well the only thing I really miss are some shortcuts to directly jump to the needed tab. Yes there are "T" and "Y" which you can use to scroll through the tabs but that just doesn't cut it (for me). Aside from that, yes this game has a learning curve but most good games do have that (Dangerous Waters for example).
  6. If Paradox didn't sh*t their customers then this means that the 1.01 is ready in all regards, so activating the download shouldnt be a big issue. I hate waiting ... I'm impatient (I think I mentioned this small fact before)
  7. I hate waiting ... I'm so impatient.
  8. Well, being a first time user of the CMx series (I pre-orderd the game already) I do hope that some sort of tutorial or training will be included. Experience has shown with Dangerous Waters that high-fidelity sims (in terms of realism) need some getting used to. Without some sort of tutorial the learning curve might be to steep for most, which in the end might mean lower influx of new players. Sure the CMx series has a small following as has SCS with 688, SC and DW but as in life you need some new blood from time to time. Cheers OS
  9. I have also thought topographical lines would be nice. That way I could print the map, take it to work, and plan a strategy in my spare time. The LOS doesnt work if you aren't at your PC. This would also be a great way to play the game in that you could only use the lowest camera angle and a print out of the map to command your forces. Now that would be realistic. Besides I love studying maps. wierd, huh?
  10. Is there any way to save and playback an entire game as one complete movie?
  11. What is the address and how much is shipping and handling if one lives in Connecticut, USA?
  12. How do I order the game via snail mail and by check.
