In a few days we will exceed the total American dead in the Vietnam war.  We will have reached that total in 3 months.  Most of the US has not even started flattening the curve which was the whole point of the lockdown.  The figure of 60,000 dead that was mentioned only 17 days ago was the best case scenario based on us adhering to a stringent lockdown. I think we can all pretty much agree that this is no longer a figure on the table and estimates will necessarily be revised higher.  Yep this sounds like the right time to change course.

Hard to believe this was only 17 days ago.

Didn't your CIC say that under 100k would be a good result also?

Don't know what im getting all uppity about Boris and his merry men have managed to **** up our response also. although we have many here in the UK saying he's  done a great job. ffs

Well apparently we are going to be and it seems the logic is based on fear of an underground movement of speakeasy hair salons.  of all things.....  there simply are no words.  I think I'll go gargle some disinfectant and shove a UV light up my arse.  Science is dead.

Are you not worried about the Gov't/NWO or Illuminati putting chips in any vaccine? lol

Probably... but that rarely seems to detract Banks or mega-corporations. The Fed has purchased one and a half trillion dollars worth of stocket assets already (and, obviously, will purchase a lot more)... it seems to me that some small business relief would be far less than that.

As an aside I always find it odd how people only become "Fiscally Conservative" when discussing helping the middle/working class.

As to the "wheelbarrows of doom", no-one is advocating that a foreign power defeats the US in a war & steals the US gold reserves... well okay some are... but very few.

Either way, somebody has to unlock their country first & conduct a mass-experiment with re-infection & viral loads & HIV-like spikes and mysterious strokes/heart attacks & all the other stuff we don't understand yet.

If the US wants to do that first... I'm kinda okay with that (at the very least it appears the US strain is less dangerous the European one).

Yeah im all for the US being the world's guinae pig and so would Trump and his cohorts.

In addition to being interesting for fans of the spaghetti western genre, it also gives an idea of how folks' obsession can create a pseudo religious environment with worshippers - very interesting sociological insight.

If its the two Spanish guys who enlist other fans to turn up and help..it was excellent.

@para  idk if you do this.. But even with first patrol when I buy all my torps I dont leave port. I speed up time because your engineers can load up the tubes.. First time I left port and cpuld have had 5 more fish!

How do you use those decoys?

Also wyen i select my rsdioman to go on hydrophones 2 seperate phones are listed with the same title. Is that a bug?

I believe you give a decoy to the torpedo/mechanic officer and he can load them in to the stern tubes.

I dont believe it is a bug. When you assign your man to the radio station. Give him one seaman to help and he will sit in the 2nd seat.

  6. just found this on subsim

Hold TAB: Great for quickly assigning crew to positions without zooming around the sub trying to find them. Works in any view, as well.

Right Click: Right click on stations to get more options. For example have a crew member selected and right click on the light next to the pump. It'll show you all available colors to select from.

Tactical Map mode: When in the map and nothing else is selected you'll have three buttons at the bottom left. The farthest right one is a tactical map which is great for getting a good overview of the area you're in. Sadly no map tools work in this mode. The regular map can zoom in just as much as the tactical mode though so you can use map tools there.

Don't set off the alarm: When you need to dive but it's not urgent, drop to periscope depth first. Anything past that will set off the alarm lowering morale. After at periscope depth slowly drop your depth. It seems dropping huge increments always set off the alarm (really hope they fix this)

Target three ships at once: You can auto-calculate on three ships at once with a crew member in each the attack, observe periscopes and the hydrophone. Select the position, select a ship, and open target positions on that ship. Do the same for the other ships/positions. You can also triple up on one ship for a faster solution. I like putting three on the first ship, moving 2 to the next ship once the first ship is calculated, and moving the last one to the last ship. Once I fire the first fish at the first ship, I take its targeting crew and move him to the second ship, and so on. It's best to start at the farthest away ship so that your torps have time to reach targets without scattering the rest.

Checkpoints: See those dots on the map? Travel to them to turn them green and make them fast travel points. Great for skipping 15 minutes of mindless travel across the sea.

More O2 and better Morale under water: There are a couple of things you can do to make staying beneath the sea more bearable for your men. First is blue light to indicate silent running. This lowers O2 usage. Second is Ventilation. This extends O2 supply but at the cost of battery.

Red Light at Night: Having the red light on during the night will extend your UZO's crew sight line.

Control room light switch - Right click, it will allow you to then select what light you want on rather than cycling through them one at a time. Red light at night not only improves visibility through the UZO but also visibility of the naked eye slightly (most every click spot aboard the boat has this feature)

Stuck officer work around - if you encounter an item such as the ballast valve that you are unable to operate because of the red text indicating that someone else is using the item, when clearly nobody is (bug) click the evacuate compartment icon in the bottom left of the compartment, everyone will leave the room and it will clear the que for that piece of equipment. then, un-check the evacuation box, and the item will now be usable.

cant use hydrophones work around - sometimes you will find that you cannot make your radio operator switch to the hydrophones once you have gone under water. if this happens, hold TAB key and select the radio officer, on the list of available actions below his icon will be the hydrophones, select those and he will move to the hydrophone station!

Torpedo solutions faster - assign the commander to the attack scope or UZO and assign him an assistant. the captain can calculate torpedo solution for one target, the assistant can calculate a solution on a second target at the same time and if you are submerged, the hydrophone operator can calculate solution on a third target giving you 3 solutions for the price of one!

Ok i noticed little things like repairs etc and discplining crew Ill see a little +25 exp pop and disappear near relevant crew member.

Discipline incidents Ive seen - burning scrambled eggs x4

    Sleeping on duty x1

My issue though is theres no real reason to get draconian except for imagination purposes.  Youll NEVER have morale problems until they fix this unless its intwntional - just make sure you have a couple diff typesof food in cooks station.  Its like +60 morale.. Ridiculous.  I read somewhere even same food in different spots does it.

Apparently my discipline menu works but.. Alas ... I dont see the point. For example Im notating in my log whose being a coward.  I give the bad asses pipes hehe.

Let me see.  Otherwise... Throwing those sheets I just woke up throwing those on the ventilator helps with keeping the oxygen.

Your aware of the control room device that pings the ocean floor right? One does it very quietly and you dont risk your positiom.

For XP otherwise go to menu, then management.  Select yhe crew.  After a mission or two especiay your officers youll note may have a 2 instead of a 1. Even sometimes witb 1s I think - pick your officers amd if they have tge points to spend it gives you 2 options per phase and depends on their job.  For example engineers can get better at repairs or making spare parts.

Also the favor thing and messing with crew recruitment I got a 6th officer ASAP.  Do you know if selecting his job fron the drop down really matters (or is it just what he reverts to autonatically)

What exactly does ALT do?  Tab works great to pop a wondow ans give orders.  That N tip was priceless buddy.  Anything else on ur end?  Any other ?s

    Good stuff.

Hoping to get back on it later..no new tips from at this stage. if i find any i will post. :-)

  8. When I said ''bugged'' i didn't mean your game was a fake copy. I meant it was being buggy for some reason. I didn't get on it much last night so nothing new to report.

Modding will come in Summer with the release of the SDK. That is when we shall see a real shift in this game. In the meantime the devs are patching frequently.

    Any new tips/tricks?

    explain more about the XP's

  9. if you get a message saying you are lost and the map disappears..send your captain to the navigation charts table in the control room and give him two staff and he will work out where you are..

Remember the faster you go the more fuel you will use. alternate between electric and diesel engines and do not let your electric charge drop below 50% you do not want to get attacked..dive and have only 10% batter left.

make sure you turn off non essential electric equipment when you do not need it.

N on your keyboard is a free camera..its quick though so be gentle

I had it 3 times in a row. Got killed trying to get thru gibraltar.  Im compiling bugs and suggestions.  They need to reduce the morale for food variety.

How do you stay underwater for any period of time thats long at all? use the blue light and the potassium canisters.

Is there a way to crash dive really quickly? i usually pause the game and set dive at full flank and set the valves to dive before unpausing. make sure when you are the surface you always have someone good on radar. try to only surface at night to recharge air and battery

Is there any pro to decks awash? It acts like youre underwater so i dont see much advantage..decks awash means you are supposed to be less visible to destroyers, merchants etc..especially at night

Why does it point out wreckage? Theres never anything floating to salvage. Look for floating boxes I have found food in them. it could also be a possible diving spot for tech.

Ive sank some ships just ordering them to do a targetting solution. Ive got a little ways to go before I do it manually. I forgot to add my third crew member. easy aint it?

Next question..  Fast travel seems useless if i hit the fast forward it seems to go faster.  I think im doinv it wrong and it has something to do with the dots on the map delineating locations..  What am I missing? not sure what you mean..fast travel just means to me get ther quicker.i use sparingly..the visuals need to be taken in and enjoyed.

When I need an envineer or leader to research I assume I "buy" one right?thats what i do purchase one and then leave him at headquarters.

What use is having small arms on board? thats for missions where you board another board and search it..it does happen.

I saw a discipline menu in live streams.  Yet all Ive seen for burning eggs was cleaning toilets or arrest.  (Maybe execution was there) but its only come up for burning eggs. lol do not execute! arrest or toilet clean. if you are not getting all the options yours is bugged.

I had one guy hamdle stress will and he got a pipe icon over him.  But no other benefit I saw? it just means he is cool under pressure and kept calm..when others panicked.. not sure if that is has any other benefit apart from he didnt flip out.

Promotions dont work yet? not that i am aware of.

How do I reward say a guy doing that? dunno yet

How do I punish cowards? You can yell at them or knocknthem out.  Yelling at them seems useless. Knocking em out gives XP but then nothing else...? dunno yet howver, one of my officers strangled a coward lol

Have you seen any unique discipline situations arise besides panickinv crew during alarm and the scrambled eggs? see above

The lighting. Yes I know morale benefits. I know blue is silent runnjng.  You cant set your engines to it though?  When you can close off compartments theres an option that turns the lights off so to speak.  Whats that do?saves electricty not sure if it does anythimg else..blue lights send sailors to bunks to conserve oxygen..i am told.

    @para

    Thanks

  11. Sorry i have not been on here, I have been busy sailing :-)

    top tips

1 Want to stay under longer? Potassium in the ventilator.

2 Discipline. Vary the types of food in the galley itself. Veg, fruit, canned fish, canned meat, fresh meat and cheese. Play music, fresh air through surfacing and venting, play cards, relieve men from duty.

3 Flooding. before you set off on mission give metal parts and rebreathers to the mechanic and engineer.

Para how you liking it? Ive got likes dislikes so far but more I think from simply not understanding all the mechanics.

I *do* think modded and out of early access we have a winner...

I am loving it to be honest. Not having much issue with bugs and it looks really nice. I am getting used to a different way after Silent Hunter but i think its going to be a classic.

  13. lol i know what you mean but its not too difficult to set up and fire a 90 degree shot or salvo. Its just practice.

It can be as simple or as difficult as you want it to be. Lots of good tutorial vids on youtube now.

    Distance - 800-1000

    Gyro - 0

    Track Angle - 90

    Angle on Bow -90

    Bearing - 0

Torp speed - medium or fast

    Merchants usually about-10knts

I could never get/bother to make them all work with 5. I did it all with 3 and 5 was so underwhelming and bugged when I messed around with it for a week...

Good to know though can I message you to hear your thoughts when you do?

    @para

I have TWOS installed with SH5 and i enjoy it.

Don't play 100% realism. Only thing i do not do is real navigation.

Yeh no probs i will let you know what i think. We already know its not a full simulation but i would hope that the modders will improve it..sharpish

The ability to mod it will come in around Summer according yo the devs.

Anyone seen youtube vids?  Looks really impressive though seems it lacks variety in missions but its still verrry early.

Anyone else considering snagging it on the 30th?

Thats a yes from me. It will go nicely with my fully modded SH5.

On one thing I totally agree with Trump and that is that Europe should take care of it's own safety. With or without NATO. US will more and more concentrate on China and Putin will try to take advantage of that. US will not want to alienate Putin too much and drive him even more in the arms of China. Europe should follow the example of Finland and arm itself to the teeth, but at the same time try to have 'normal' relations with Moscow and Bejing. No more adventures in the Middle East, no more listening to 'his master's voice'. We have enough to worry about in our own backyards, for example the time bomb of the Baltic states, Ukraine and terrorism. I'm not saying we should turn our back on the US though. A good relationship with the US is still vital for the future of Europe. Same goes for  Britain of course. We may not like each other, but in the dangerous times ahead everybody will need alies.

Not all Brits hate Europe or voted out. Indeed 16 million of us wanted to stay.
