  1. Rewriting history by Humans going back in time is a waste of thought. It should be focused on writing history and trying to impact our future.

I see way too many people sitting back and thinking we cannot impact the future. Right now there is all sorts or major issues as to where humanity is heading and far to little is being done by the majority of us to impact the course of where we are heading. Unless you think we are on a good course.

I would much prefer to see future events from the present and try to prevent some of those evils over the ones we as mankind have managed to overcome in the past.

The next great sinister power will make Hitler and the Second World War look like school children as to what evils  mankind can do to one another.

I'd rather not know than go through the torture of Fire and Rubble again.

I can see your point of view on that statement, especially since it was the one module that you really wanted and having the knowledge that it was out there and work had been done on it.

I can only guess but I doubt they were  happy about having to delay and shelf it also. But it is what it is, they can only work on so much, something had to give.

  3. What is funny, I think BF has learned that keeping things quite as they did with CMCW is a good thing.

So I would not be at all surprised that they might give less advance notice instead of more advanced notice as to what is future releases.

They already made a statement where their present efforts are (patch for CMCW) and they made a statement that they already know what the next project is. They did not share what that was. That seems to appear they have no plans of letting you know until its closer to completion.

  4. Well, when a player losses and complains there is something wrong with the battle. I do not give it much weight normally.

paying $35 bucks, jumping into a battle and playing the game does not make them great military minds. So normally its something to review and weigh once again maybe at the most.

But as to the feed back you have received so far it sounds like to me you have a great and challenging Scenario and it might need no real adjustment.

I mean, even in the comments  you can tell that the methods that lost, there was a reason for it and it had nothing to do with the Scenario design. but the players use of their force.

  5. Playing as the Soviets for the first time, this battle is brutal. And that is playing against the AI, let alone another person.

So losing and finding out what you are up against is not at all surprising.

The designer has more than explained now that the method is to use the infantry to move through the woods and to clear the enemy with arty and atgm's.

But I would be amazed if anyone wins this battle on the first try. I recall I quickly went to the methods needed to advance in my battle, but still ran into plenty of challenges. I walked away with a minor defeat to the AI and felt good about it.

But, if you play it again, using what you have learned about the enemy , you can win this battle.

But no, its presently not a good h2h battle, As likely mentioned. Best played as Russian vs AI

  6. Open them hatches and let your tank Commanders ride to Glory.

At this time frame, they all still can spot better from a open hatch.

As was mentioned above, you will want to button them up once you are within range of enemy small arms fire.

For most other things, the AI does a decent job of having them button up if they start getting incoming fire.

  7. I recall that the view most had at the time was NBC would not be used in a conflict, not in the early stages anyway.

With the concept that if it was used, they knew the enemy would then also feel free to use their similar weapons.

It was looked at as a weapon to likely be used if the enemy became desperate and tried to use it to swing the tide of the war if things were not going as planned.

  8. Well, if at some point you own them all, then it really does not matter then does it.

But if not, I would stay away from CMFB, even though I love it because of some of the available forces. It will never have as much content as the other games. Even the community has not added nearly as much. So it would be up to you to generate more stuff with that one.

  9. Try this to fix the problem

Specifically, go to the CM root directory,

find the application for the game (I tested this with SF2 and BS but I assume it will work with all title using this engine) and right click,

    click on 'Properties',

    click on the 'Compatibility' tab,

click on 'Change High DPI Settings',

at the bottom of the next popup under 'High DPI Scaling Override' click the checkbox - side note: the default 'Application' setting in the dropdown worked for me but you may need to try some of the other options depending on your specific system

click 'Ok' to close the second popup and save your settings,

click 'Ok' again to close the first popup and save your settings,

    play the game!

All of them destroyed through the turret I presume?

At long range, there's more chance to hit the turret. At short range, all shots will hit the strong front hull.

Well, there is no question as to that being part of the problem here.

Since at close ranges, the tanks are going to hit center mass and that is a hull hit, thus part of his problem.

its a weakness in the game, its a weakness that can be resolved.

Maybe when you get that CMX3 engine design you will be able to select where to target.

  11. Well, just for the fun of it, I wanted to see how bad his luck was.

because I know IS-2's are tough, but not that tough.

So I set up a test, 5 IS-2's against 5 panthers and 5 Flak 88's at 670 meters (so 300 meters farther than his engagement.)

within the first minute.  4  IS-2's were destroyed. Three to the mighty 88's and one to a panther.

So they are more than destroyable from the front, as long as you have the firepower.

What he learned was the 75's are not enough gun to do the job correctly

and I think the 88 had some bad luck. That's all

all our products are actively supported.  Even ones released 10 years ago.  The compounding support time that builds up over years is not insignificant.  The good news for customers is the games they bought years ago are not languishing.  I'd rather have a product with infrequent, but meaningful updates, to ones that just say "that's it, no more".

This is the most important statement that has been said in weeks.

For all those that want to see the glass half empty.  None of you want to see the glass as to how it is overflowing in that none of those other companies or games does this. None

What I like about Steve is he has a view of how things should be and he goes on the path that he believes he should follow and he does not allow himself to get diverted off the path by the peanut gallery that think they can proclaim themselves as experts and try to push their own views.

Also, I do recall many a quick update release of fixes if there is some that are found shortly after a game goes out to the masses.  Then what happens is a few months go by and then some additional issues are finally discovered and these are the ones that do not get addressed normally right away since by then they are focused on another game.

So how can these type of issues be game breakers if it takes months after all the hours that players have played to finally figure out what is not right. I agree that it would be nice to get them fixed right then, but I have never lost any sleep over how the game was working  and always found ways to still play it without it affecting the results too much.

  13. Well, this is a perfect example of what it takes to figure out a bug.

First, if you open up your editor. These buildings are all single story buildings. So it is not missing a texture, the roofs are shown too high.

Now I went in and snapped in every single story building and I could not reproduce the issue.

You fix the map by removing the buildings and replacing them

then save the map. (Something most players can figure out how to do)

As for what is causing the issue, I have no clue, this is where, can you produce the issue. if you can, then that might lead to a clue as to how it has happened.

But fixing the maps and saving a new version is not a big issue. Can anyone point out other maps that this can be found in.

Getting maps fixed is one thing. Finding the building that when installed does this is another.

  14. well, sure is interesting. I see it differently. There is many bugs reported by users here that I have seen beta testers take the time and effort to try and verify and duplicate and then if proven. Have reported it thru proper procedures that the company has to see about getting them addressed.

Why do I know that, because they were kind enough to do it on a few that I had found over the years.

You are correct, there is no proper place to report, and I agree. Having a spot for that might improve things.

Presently, it does take getting the attention of the right people to have them want to look into a issue that someone thinks they have found.

And since they are all just doing this as a pastime and its not a job, it s not like they are going to delve into every issue someone might thinks exist.

I found that I needed to find, create test and post my findings to get the process started, then a beta tester might be willing to look at it, then report it up the chain.

Now if you are generally making beta testers mad, complaining and not putting in the hard work of proving what the issue is and how to duplicate it. it might be hard for them to want to take their time to chase after your issue on their own personnel time. So that is the present system, want to have success, learn to work with what is available.

Lethaface, please spare me your Mindfulness exercises. 😀The simple truth is that the delay has been endless because of low priority and more profitable other business. There's no 'wisdom' in the conclusion that 'it's taking as long as it needs to take'. That just complete and utter nonsense. We haven't been waiting all this time because the module needed it to become perfect, but because all these years it was low on the priority list.

    Aragorn2002

You are correct, is that what you want to hear.

Does it make any difference if you are.

When will you accept the fact that the situation is what it is and all your complaining over these years have made not one bit of difference other than to irritate other people.

I do know one thing, Be glad I am not Steve, because if it was my product and I had to deal with someone like you.

I would find a way not to sell you my product. I would Call it a "Band of Purchase"

Oh this is all "Humor" but I am sure it does not sound like it.

  16. Don't ask me why, but no one uses this site for finding games.

I actually did use this site for years and then finally gave up.

As was mentioned, those two sites are good and I expect that Steam will be a main place also as the CM games become common there.
