  1. How do you get these into the game? HSG's "Cats and Crocs" scenario features a pair of them. I'm trying to design another scenario with the Crocs, but when I go to the unit editor they are nowhere to be seen. I'm using the "Italy" setting and my date is June '44. How did HSG get the Crocs into the game?
  2. Oh, and something that will mean roads won't bend in all sorts of curious ways when negotiating undulating terrain.
  3. 1) More ammo or the possibility of re-supply. 2) a total re-modelling of hedgerow terrain for Normandy bocage scenarios. There should be two options: - something that works like the "roads with trees" now do to model roads and tracks running between parallel hedgerows. - Individual hedgerows to separate fields where there are no roads or tracks present alongside. The hedgerows should be shown as earthen banks about 1m high on which shrubs and trees grow, that is what they looked like mostly, as opposed to the "manicured" effect currently portrayed. Infantry should be able to gain strong protection from fire by setting up "inside" the hedgerow terrain, which should be just a narrow strip. Hedgerows should not be passable by tanks, but it should be possible to blow gaps through them using engineers. Infantry should be able to move through or along these obstacles but at a very high time cost. Most of my other pet ideas have been mentioned by previous posters.
  4. I have created a full Normandy mod for my own use using lots of elements from Magua's CMBO Normandy mod and bits and pieces of other, pertinent CMAK and CMBO mods. It satisfies me, but I'm not sure it's good enough for circulating. The problem is that Magua's bmps are low res and the trees, grass and hedges in particular don't look as crisp as the rest of the CMAK higher res stuff, including Mickey D's Normandy skies and AF's North West Europe uniforms. It doesn't bother me, but maybe other, more fastidious players won't like it so much. I'm also not too sure of the implications of posting something I've put together using other people's work, as I wouldn't have the first clue of how to produce bmps to a half-decent standard myself. All I have done is change some file numbers and use Winzip and CMMM to create a full Normandy mod; as I said it looks good enough for me to enjoy it as the atmosphere is just right, but at zoom level one some things get a bit blurry.
  5. OK, here's what I have researched so far: in CMBO buildings mods there are 8 smaller and 5 larger buildings. In CMAK there are 11 smaller and 6 larger buildings. There is one church only in both. CMAK has two more files (6074 and 6075) that have no equivalent in CMBO mods and one extra larger building facing (6090) that seems to be on its own (?). CMAK also has one set of damaged images for each building, while CMBO mods do not. Magua's smaller buildings images are 128 x 128 or 56 x 128 pixels high/wide, and 72 x 72 dots per inch resolution. The larger buildings images are 256 x 256 pixels high/wide at the same resolution. Panzertruppen's CMBO smaller buildings mod and CMAK are 256 x 256 or 128 x 256 pixels high/wide, and 28 x 28 dots per inch resolution. The larger buildings images are 512 x 512 pixels high/wide and the same resolution. This seems to lead towards eliminating Magua's buidings from a possible conversion because of the difference in resolution that might show up badly in the finished product. What do you think? In order to produce buildings with a more Northern European look one can mix the whole set of Panzertruppen buidings with those already in CMAK that wouldn't look too out of place. Only 3 smaller and one larger buildings would need to be selected from the existing CMAK set. Someone would need to explain to me what files 6074, 6075 and 6090 do. I would also need lots of advice on how to distress the Panzertruppen buildings to produce damaged images as I have absolutely no experience in this kind of work. I would be doing this only for my own use if the original author objects to me making the mod available, as I find the buildings included in CMAK too "Italian" for use in Northern Europe scenarios, but many others may not be as fussy. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. I can also be contacted using the following e-mail address: fabio@avro.co.uk
  6. Is there any way that the excellent Normandy mod by Magua can be adapted to work in CMAK? Is it just a case of changing the file names to a different number? If so, how do I find out what file numbers to use?
