  1. Very Cool! I am new to CMAK but looking forward to trying this out. This is just the kind of thing I was looking for - I was considering doing a conversion of a North Africa chit and hex wargame with battles resolved in CMAK, but this looks even more interesting... Edit Update: I am having problems with the spreadsheet, but I don't know if it's me or the spreadsheet. I sent you an e-mail. [ February 11, 2004, 10:06 PM: Message edited by: Ansbach ]
  2. I don't know for sure, but my guess is "Heil Hitler". 88 was the old telegraph code for "love and kisses", and 88 was also slang for "Heil Hitler", H being the 8th letter of the alphabet. (If I am correct then partial credit goes to the Great Sage Known Only As Google. ) [ February 11, 2004, 10:08 AM: Message edited by: Ansbach ]
  3. You are right of course Xerxes, but I think his whole point was that in this case the jeep was not firing at the more threatening target and he didn't know why...
  4. Goofy is correct. It's funny because I had this exact same question yesterday, but before I asked on the forum I thought I would check the rulebook (don't feel bad - I printed out all 200+ pages and put them in a binder with sheet protectors ) Under The Combat - Cover Arcs: How well your units stick to the assigned zones depends on their experience, whether they are in command, and their commander's stealh skill. I have a Newbie question though: why would you put such a narrow cover arc over a single unit like that with your jeep, instead of just targeting them? 5. A comment on this bit specifically: the British soundly, decisivly, and with finality defeated Rommel and his DAK only when they rejected "the tough lessons dealt out to them by ... DAK." </font>
  6. Hi all, new to CMAK and the boards but have been lurking for a little while... anyway, I am ready to start downloading mods and was looking for a "Newbie's Guide to Essential Mods". Not "how to", but rather I wanted to know if there are any 'essentials' out there that everybody uses? Like maybe sounds, terrain, etc. - before I start selecting individually modded equipment. Also, I thought I read something about mod-manager software but I couldn't find the post again. Thanks in advance!
  7. New to the boards and just wanted to add my vote to the "Rommel is overrated" camp. I thought an old, out of print Osprey book I have hit the nail on the head, in reference to the Africa Campaign: it said something to the effect that Rommel's dashing, aggressive style and the 'bumbling' style of the British just showed a contrast in inefficiencies... He obviously had moments of tactical brilliance as well, but overall I would take Guderian over Rommel. [ February 09, 2004, 03:36 AM: Message edited by: Ansbach ]
