Have you checked out the tutorial in CMBB? It's not quite as small as what you have been talking about, but it's pretty small.

  2. Cause I'm sure if your not some middle aged grograd who already knows everything, the community doesn't want you, and BFC doesn't want your money.

BFC may indeed be shooting for a different market with this game. The questions we seem to be asking are: Why did they do this? and How can we change their mind? The question we need to be asking (and one that I hope BFC is considering) is How can we get people whoever never played a real wargame intrested in one? as opposed to say Starcraft.

  3. There's an old saying, it isn't the size of your command, but...

Seriously, we've heard that a battalion is the largest force we will "officially" be able to command, but what about the other end. I'm assuming that it is going to be a platoon, but I havn't heard anything about this.

Personally, I'd like to see a very small mission, say 5 or 10 turns with just a squad (2 fire teams) just a simple take a LMG or clear a house sort of thing. Perhaps it would make a good start for the intro campaign? Just to introduce moving around the map and very basic infantry tactics in MOUT.

    Just an idea.

  4. I know, just stating a fact. I just find the Arnhem campaign intresting because its a bridge for the german units between the early war (for the western front anyway) and the late war Gomer Pyle formations.

But I think we would all agree that with the new mission objectives availible with CMx2 a stalingrad game would not be unwelcome. smile.gif You are on notice Steve.

I wouldn't be suprised if we see one in a few years. And as far as I know I have the best record on the boards for predicting unannoced releases. tongue.gif

Arnhem sounds like a too narrow subject. Wasn't there only a battalion of Brits, just for a week.

No, the whole 1st. Airborne Div. made it to Arnhem. It's just that only a battalion or so made it to the bridge. The rest of the division got trapped on the western outskirts of the city, where they fought a vicious week-long battle to try to hold on to the DZs.

But to take your point, it would make a better module than a whole game series.

That'll see if steve can put his "CMx2 can do anything" money where his mouth is.

And if scotty giving out diagrams, why not just a pershing, make things a lot easier than a sherman.

No silly, because Swedes don't have any enemies! Closest they have is the Norwegians ;)

  8. C'mon you know you want a Stalingrad game with the new urban warfare mechanics. I realise that this is going to be a longway off (after CMSF, CMBO2.0 and CMSLOD) but I would be suprised if 1 of the 2 remaining games wasn't an eastern front game. I think it would be a crime not to include old S-grad in an eastern front game. As I said, a long long off, but any other support for this? And any other ideas for an EF game? With the new plan we'll prolly only get 1 battle, at least for the initial release.

    Abbot, (snipped)

    Steve ,

I know I was a bit out of line and I thank you for your graciousness. I did not post anything I do not personally believe. I felt that someone needed to speak up in defense of our great nation.

    With respect,

  10. Well, the thing to remember is that BFC is a pretty small company. Unless CMSF sells serveral orders of magnitude beyond what the current crop of games have been selling I think we can rule out any licensing of other IP. That being said I would love to see a sci-fi game about highly mobile infantry inserted onto a planet from space in power armor. It would be similiar but legally distict from the book Starship Troopers. Also, I may be wrong here but I had heard that Games Workshop (the Warhammer 40k people) actually owned the rights to the names Space Marine and power armor.

So does the swedish AT4 have the "this end tword enamy" with the little cartoon man pointing that away from himself. 'Cause I always found that funny.
