UK BOAR - right now we have a pretty comprehensive build planned for the UK units as they transitioned from their 1974 structures - to where they landed in 1980.
So how many different British TO&Es might we see?

And do I recall correctly it was CF-104s for Canada?

As I recall, only the 3rd Cav at Ft Bliss still had Sheridan's in 1979. One could argue of course they would have been brought over eventually had WWIII started.

. And hopefully some Sheridans, which were strangely absent from the main release.
Not really strange, as USAEUR no longer has Sheridans in 1979, which is the beginning timeframe of the base game.

Ah, okay. Thanks, I get it now.

They're not the guys that started the feud with the French Canadians, are they?

I am working on a special Easter egg just for you, but let's see if we can pull it off.
I can't think of what such an Easter Egg for Aragorn may be, other than the entire Dutch Army, but that goes well beyond what the standard definition of what an Easter egg is.

It is a saying attributed to the German knight Gotz Von Berlichengen.
I'm familiar with the insult. I'm just wondering if it was historically attached to the 17th SS.

The community can quickly pump out some unit vehicle mods for the "Licken Mein Arse"... division. If they don't already exist.
Is that a historical nickname or a Kohlenklauism? Hey, I coined a word!

Will we get both earlier and later Canadian forces as well, meaning both Centurions (early), and Leopard I's (later)?
-
Yeah, I ignored that movie. Probably because I saw Star Wars 3 times, and a Bridge Too Far twice.

How different was the F432 from the M113?
-
As I posted in the other thread, I'm guessing this will mean Sheridans and the M114 for US units down the line perhaps?
P.S. I can personally verify the 2nd Cav was still using Sheridans until spring of 1978. As I was stationed in Bamberg at the time, and they had a battalion there.
-
Wasn't Bee Gees at their apex 1979 which we have already? Perhaps you mean Elton John at his apex. I'm guessing it means Sheridans and M114s.

Hello,
I'm assuming the decision to move the timeline forward was made by the Cold War Family developers, from whom the game is a passion project, and not by the Battlefront owners.
The game wouldn't exist without these guys, so I trust and support their decision, though I was looking forward to playing with the Bundeswehr sooner rather than later. All things come to those who wait, but I'm hoping to coax some behind the scenes decision making as to why this path was chosen. In board wargaming 1985 seems to be a prominent year for the balloon to go up, possibly influenced by the John Hackett book.
-
Not to hijack the thread, but are there any UK Army units still on the continent battalion size or larger?
-
The response we're seeing from many on this thread is why we don't get more bones threads. It's nothing new for those that remember the response to the very first CMBN screenshot with the Tiger Tank.

Is Refresh Monkeys a Battlefront thing or is it more widespread?

I don't recall this. Was this a mod to make soldiers look like Santa or something?

The Battlefront Yacht: Steve claims the Battlefront owning partners are hidden in the deep wood of Maine, but we really know they have spent part of their vast fortune made from Combat Mission sales to purchase a luxurious yacht where they sip Pina Coladas while sunbathing somewhere off the Florida coast.

Aah... for the glossary, you simply cannot leave out "the Cesspool"...
Herr Oberst, I assume you are referring to the Peng thread, which finally faded away after how many years? When is the last time anyone had a Peng sighting by the way?

Bren tripods. My memory is a bit sketchy on this one, but I seem to recall the debate on this one became infamous.
-
Special Operations. While scenario designers have shown amazing imagination in creating special operation scenarios, this again is not the Battlefront engines forte, and development resources are most probably better spent on features that are a better fit for the engine.
-
Visible Airborne/Helicopter insertion. Adding it to gameplay would be another heavy use of resources that, while nice eye candy, almost never happened within shooting range of an enemy.

Thanks. And do I guess correctly Canadian formations were more stable in the timeframe?
