  1. I just finished a PBEM scenario and my opponent and I reported different things in reference to the victory flags. I saw that I held one of the flags from turn 5 or 6 all the way to the end while he said that it went from my possession to neutral and back to my possession. And similar differences with the other victory flag. Has anyone else experienced this?
  2. I'm sorry, I"m playing CMBB. So basically, in my case, I have to 'unhide' the HQ, and then choose 'Target' with the mortar unit and it should be able to fire on those units that are within LOS of the platoon HQ, correct??
  3. I'm in the middle of a PBEM battle and I'm having trouble getting a 50mm mortar unit to fire. I've got an infantry platoon hiding in some trees with the platoon HQ 'hiding' on the edge of the woods so that he has, in his LOS, 3 enemy infantry units about 70 -95 meters away. I have a 50mm mortar unit about 25 meters in back of this infantry platoon but still within command range of the platoon HQ. I always assumed that if a mortar is within command range of an HQ and that HQ has line of sight to an enemy unit, that mortar can indirectly fire on those enemies because the HQ has LOS. However, in this case, when I attempt to get a target with the mortar I keep getting 'Sight Blocked' and cannot get a target. It's true, the mortar itself doesn't have LOS but the HQ does. What's up? adam
  4. What do you guys think is an effective range for these weapons? Is 100 meters too far away to take out a tank, etc....
  5. I've purchased motorized infantry or recon units in the past and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to purchase transportation separately or if they just move quicker than regular infantry. Basically, what i'm trying to find out is, what makes these units 'motorized'. Please straighten this out for me. adamo
  6. in a recent scenario, I loaded an ATG onto a halftrack but I had no idea how to unload it and aim it. Any tips?
  7. OK, on the cooling front. I removed 'tons' of dust from my heatsink and the intake grills on the case. I was amazed that the fan on the heatsink was even able to keep the cpu from burning up. I"ve been running idle now for about 15 minutes and my cpu temp is around 48 C, much better than the 75 C I was getting the other day. I think what I'm going to do for now is continue running the game with recent drivers and FSAA turned on just to see if the problem was temp related. If I continue to get freeze-ups and my cpu temps are not too high then I'll turn off FSAA and then change drivers--not necessarily in that order. Let's hope, this works. I really want to enjoy this game. Schrull, you are god! I can't explain how much I appreciate what you've done for me. thanks again adam
  8. Update! By the way, before I start blabbing, this is an Antec case with AMD 2100XP and Geforce 3 with 512 ram on Gigabyte 7VRXP mobo Opened up case and found lots of dust between heatsink and heatsink fan---possible cause for high temps. I also noticed that I don't feel too much airflow between 2 Antec fans in front of case (blowing in) and 2 Antec fans in back of case (blowing out). The fan speeds listed in BIOS are CPU fan 4821 rpm and System fan 1739 rpm. With all that said, I just played CMBB for about 25 minutes - a miracle in itself. Then I immediately turned off the game and quickly restarted and went to BIOS to check temps and they were just about what they always are - 75 C. Now, granted, I was playing with the case wide open so airflow is much better than it usually is. I am still playing with very recent drivers, version 52.16. What do you make of all that? I know for sure that tomorrow morning I'm going to unscrew that heatsink fan and clean it out. And then I'm going to work on the fans. Do you know if it's possible to increase fan speeds? thanks adam
  9. Schrull, I just went to BIOS and got a CPU temp of 75 C, and a system temp of 40 C. My thermal shutdown temp is set at 110 C. This reading of 75 C was not after playing CMBB for an extended period of time. I guess I should play it for about 15 minutes and then quickly restart and go to BIOS and take a reading. If the reading is nowhere near 95 - 100 C then my freezing's probably not temp related. By the way, I said this before and I'll say it again. I REALLY appreciate all the help you're giving me. Do you work for Battlefront? thanks a million adam
  10. Thanks for the link, Schrull. I just DL'ed a utility called 'Speedfan'. I'm still trying to figure which temp is which but the 3 temp readings are listed as: Temp3: 81 C Temp2: 75 C Temp1: 65 C Now this is with me just on this webpage with no other app's open. Just antivirus and the basic processes running in the background. CPU usage is very low--- 0.1% . Are these temps high or do they look OK? adam
  11. Speaking of case temperatures. Is it normal to be unable to restart a computer after it has been running for awhile because of high case temp? Sometimes if a program freezes up on me and I'm forced to 'pull the plug' almost all the time I am not able to restart immediately because (I've always assumed)that the case temp is too high and must cool down a bit in order to be at an acceptable 'booting up' temperature. Please note, in the past I've run lots of graphically-intensive programs for long periods of time without freeze-ups so I'm not sure if my CMBB freeze-ups are temp related. adam
  12. Thanks, Schrull. How can I check the temp of my case? I've heard of some utilities that I can download. adam
  13. Yes Schrullenhaft, we do appreciate your help! adam
  14. Up until now I've just been installing new video drivers by downloading them from Nvidia's website and just running the .exe file. Should I be 'uninstalling' the old drivers first or does this .exe file automatically handle the whole process correctly? I read here something about 'making sure the old drivers are fully deleted before installing new drivers' or something like that. In case it matters, I've got a Geforce 3 on WinXP. And, I'm getting tired of this game constantly freezing on me. adam
  15. Please help! I'm running WinXP with a Geforce 3. I've tried many different drivers with my antivirus disabled but the same thing continues to happen: I play for about 5 - 10 minutes and then the game freezes and I can't even Ctrl-Alt-Del out of it. I've read some stuff about disabling FSAA but the troubleshooting guide sugggested this was for immediate freezing and/or 2D 'text' issues. I've had this game for about 1 month and I love it but I'm getting really frustrated with it. My PBEMs are continually getting messed up because of this problem. If you can suggest a driver that you've used successfully or some other trick, please enlighten me! thanks adam
  16. Ashberry, Gamespy is for the birds! Use the opponent finder forum. This game isn't like BF1942, you don't 32 people to play.
  17. I realize that, and I apologize if I bothered anybody but I figured that in the 'SC Forum' I'm going to find a bunch of hardcore SC players. I don't want to hear from them because obviously they love the game. I wanted to know what you guys thought about it. Nothing too in-depth, I'm not going to beat this to a pulp. Just wondering if any of you CM players are playing SC. adamo
  18. I know this is not the SC forum but I was wondering if any of you CM players are playing SC and what you all think of it. Thanks adam
  19. What do you suggest is the best stance for a recon or infantry unit to assume if it wants to sit and watch for enemy units? I thought it would be 'Hide' but it says in the manual that units in this stance have somewhat limited 'view' and is not a good stance for recon. Any tips? adamo
  20. Is it possible for units such as AFVs, mortars, etc to get resupplied during a scenario? In a single player scenario the other day I had a halftrack expend all of its' ammo after about 6 or 7 turns and after that I just moved it back. adamo
  21. Will mortars continue to fire until they are out of ammo once given a target or do they fire once and then await orders?
  22. Does an onboard artillery unit have to be 'in command' in order to launch an indirect fire attack? The reason why I ask, my last battle I attempted to target an enemy unit with an onboard mortar attack and when I clicked on the 'Target' icon I was able to move the 'line' around the battlefield but everywhere I moved it, it said 'Out of range'. I was confused as to whether this was meaning that the target was out of range or whether the mortar unit was out of command range.
  23. Hey Junk, I got it going for the most part; still crashing but I'm just saving after every turn. I must say, this is a great game. I'm still in the middle of Steel Panthers PBEM game but I can see this game taking over soon. thanks adamo
