In one of my PBEM games, I have just had an infantry squad simply vanish. It was there throughout the movie phase, was not fired on at all, only moved slightly. When I click "done" it vanishes. Completely gone, no dead guys, nothing. Any idea why this would happen? More important, can it be fixed?

Night of the Living Dead
That's what St. Edowardo's reminds me of.
Dark night and zombies everywhere!

As the great Captain Kirk once said, "Everything I say is a lie."
-
I only do it with a few selcted units normally - recon units or other special functions. But mainly because it's a pain in the butt to have to move all those teams around. So no objection here.
For all my opponents, I want to add that it's possible that I might do it with all my squads in some games, then again, I may never do it.

Congratulations! I would second the recommendation for the book "What to Expect Your First Year." A nice reference guide, especially for when you have no idea how to handle the situation. Mine are 11 and 9, but those years go very fast. Enjoy!

Group 11
All battles underway! Yeee Ha!
-
Yes, that was the score. But I'll point out, that was a MINOR victory.Originally posted by Kanonier Reichmann:Yes you do Sergio. Refer to the top posting on this page where I reported a result of 59% (me-Allies) to 41% (Dangerous Dave- Axis).
BTW, I was kidding about the rework of the stats. I'm sure you have more important things to do.
Regards
Jim R.
What a wild battle. I still have nightmares about my best armor stumbling into a patch of 25 pounders in the dust, getting blown up and not being able to see anything! It became a bit like Little Bighorn, though we both bled like Custer I think.

Group 11 - 3 of my 5 underway. I hope to get St. Ed's and Highlanders out tomorrow.

Is it still "GAMEY JEEP SPOTTING" if one uses a kubelwagon?

That's cruel and inhumane punishment.Originally posted by Kingfish:Perhaps the sections with Walpurgis Nacht and Kanonier Reichmann...
Actually, I'd rather welcome another lesson from Walpurgis. As for Her Reichmann, would like to play him again, but I'm concerned that CM-X2 would come out before the games are complete, thus making it impossible to focus on finishing.

Don't mess with the Rat Patrol.Originally posted by Elmar Bijlsma:I'm not thanking anyone just yet. I played Proof of Honour as the Germans. I still wake screaming at night with a vision of a AC hurtling out of the fog, past my Jagdpanzer IV KO-ing it with it's .50!

Excellent. I'm in too. Cleaning weapons, zeroing sights, tuning up engines, resupplying, and all that.
And thanks, Kingfish, for another ROW.

You mean you don't have total divine control over your forces? Obviously they don't respect you enough. I suggest a few arbitrary executions to teach them a lesson.Originally posted by sand digger:Thats it, no more games, at least for a while. The final straw involved the TacAI, surprise surprise, tank commnader ordered to keep buttoned up, TacAI says unbutton, sniper shoots commander. Two tanks out of five stuffed by gamey snipers and the game has hardly begun
The TacAI is way too intrusive, in some situations the game you are supposed to be playing is taken over by the TacAI, and usually stuffed up in the process.
That plus the restricted artillery, the over emphasis of infantry survival on terrain type, the bomb proof Matilda tank.....
Great effort though, what else comes close, really looking forward to the next generation game Which will be out, say again?

The rumbling grows louder!
Thanks for the update, Kingfish.

Is it ready yet? Is it ready yet?

When I was in the infantry (never in combat), I don't think most of the guys in my platoon even knew who our battalion C.O. was. The only time we ever saw him was at battallion formations. My guess is that, in the scope of a 30 or 45 minute engagement during WWII, the loss of battalion HQ likely would go unnoticed by those actively engaging the enemy. If the whole HQ gets taken out, the sr co commander would take over. Here, at least a relatively experienced commander takes over.
Loss of company HQ would have a great immediate impact, if we are talking about the C.O., X.O. and First Sgt all at once. They have day to day contact with the platoons, especially Top (1st Sgt). Of course, if the Co. HQ get's taken out, morale is probably suffering already because the situation is bad.

Finished Champenois and Proof. I don't think we are going to finish Wolf within the time, however. Great batch of scenarios, guys, thank you!

Great news! That is one of the most beautiful CMAK maps I've seen yet and a great battle.Originally posted by jwxspoon:FYI, the balanced and revised public version of ROW-IV:Squeezing the Melon will be out this week.

I would also recommend a scenario by CSDT - St. Vith. A brutal slug match but pretty well balanced I think. You can get it here:

Thanks for all the input guys. I thought South of Vevi was a great one too, Brent. That was my second favorite in that round, my favorite was Squeezing the Mellon (coincidence that those are the two that I won perhaps?)
Hans, I'll check those out. Much appreciated.

I was curious what scenarios players have found to be most balanced. I have been playing mostly tournament games and quick battles. When I have played scenarios, it seems like they are often a bit unbalanced. Any stand out as particularly balanced in the view of others?
The most balanced one I have played (head to head) was probably Spaghetti Western.

Oh great. Thanks for the response!Originally posted by Splinty:All you need is the current game file. CM will fill in the other information from the game engine.

In the middle of some PBEM Games. I want to take my games on the road with my laptop next week. Which files do I need to transfer, just the most current turn file, or do I need the first file for the game too?

Let's be frank. You're no more capable of a thoughtful, intelligent or witty comeback than you are of actually interesting a woman in your person. Your posturing only reveals the fact that you're angry at the world for filling you with desire, while leaving you incapable of either a good taunt, or the ability to interest or satisfy the Fairer Sex.
You came in here hoping to meet chicks. Instead, everyone on this Forum is trying to look away from the fact that you look like a little child posturing over the fact that you've developed pubic hair.
Dear God. "Don't get laid, much?"
I've owned fecking pets that had more on the ball than you.
I've already told you about the rabbits, dangerousdave... </font>
