  1. lmao....I can tell you are Scottish, George Mc...several give aways..."fur noo" in your sig but most recent..."...if they are in the road" Now I know what you meant...but other people might think you meant only if they were actually on a road!
  2. I'm probably very much in the minority here...but I'm saddened they are going back to WWII. I'm all "WWII'ed" out. I was enjoying the new era (although I'd like to have seen some Cold War, Falklands, 6 Day War, Suez...even Vietnam stuff)
  3. I heard a rumour (did a search and can't seem to find it confirmed)...is there going to be a British Forces add on for this? Also, any other Red Forces? As for the Marines module, I see it's almost done. Will I be able to use it with my GamersGate download? I presume it will be sold on GamersGate? And lastly, with the add-on, will there be water in the map maker? Thx
  4. Oh, don't worry....there's nothing "historical" about any scenarios I would take up!! I'm currently working on the Battle for Goose Green in The Falklands Conflict and I've got US troops assaulting a Syrian captured Goose Green...with airstrikes from F-15Es!!!
  5. Adam That isn't really an awful lot of info to go on. Don't you have any "specific" battle in mind? What about the Ia Drang Valley battle??
  6. It makes sense to place trenches on the top of hills or the side of a hill facing the enemy...but with the editor, once you select trenches, the elevation map disappears, making it pretty impossible to effectively place trenches. Any chance there's a way of allowing the user the ability to toggle showing the elevation map when selecting other types of map objects?
  7. Thx very much for looking at it, Webwing. I have to say, one possibility is that I set the "friendly area" of the map wrong in the first place and, thereafter, it ignores what facing you give it. I don't know. I don't even know if I did give them the wrong facing. I do know that I did change the facing a few times...most certainly to try and rectify the problem...but the problem could've been caused by wrong facing initially...so maybe Battlefront could just make a quick check to make sure that facing is changed after it's initial setting. As for my scenario, thx WebWing. It is "very loosely" based on the Goose Green battle in the Falklands Conflict. I was hoping to create it, test it, modify, test, modify, test etc, etc...there isn't a great deal I can do with the Falklands with US and Syrian troops but what I hoped to portray was what 2 Para did on that night...advnance up a very narrow strip of land with little effective arty, facing a much larger force of enemy...and close with them, advancing over open ground. We'll see. It won't take me as long to do the map as before because I spent alot of time working out how to work the heights tool...so I really wanted to revisit it anyway. One question before I get into it...how do I add water? I see I can add a pond...but a large water mass? I don't like the fact that my map is so "rectangluar" Thx again for looking.
  8. No probs...whenever is convenient. I'm not using the editor until I find out what's going on, because for me, with this issue, it's been an area of great frustration. Regardless of whether it's a fault in the engine or my design, as long as I know how to remedy it, I'll be happy. Thx btw...what were your findings with MarkEzra's scenario?
  9. Webwing I've sent my scenario to you also. I've just lost the energy. I placed every single Red unit and gave every single Red unit a facing. When that didn't work, I deleted all the Red units, saved the scenario, exited, opened up the editor, loaded the scenario, gave Red new units, placed every single one and gave every one a facing and STILL they face the wrong way.
  10. Well, I removed the RED units I purchased and saved the game. I then reloaded it, added RED units and deployed them, with a facing towards the BLUE forces. But still when I load the game to play, I play as blue. As soon as my unit spots a red unit, I click the red unit and TAB, so I am seeing the red unit from it's facing, and they are definitely facing away from the blue force...which is why they're not firing (although one would think they may turn and fire back, regardless of where the enemy are coming from!) Also, when I select all my blue forces and march them forwards, once the pass the red forces, all hell breaks loose. So the fact that the blue forces are being ignored up until they are in LOS (even though they have been firing at red!!). So it's clear that the units are facing the wrong way. I've tried the "Red Friendly Area" of the map on several different settings, but to no avail. I've spent a day on creating this scenario and, tbh, it's not worth carrying on.
  11. Is it because I haven't baked the scenario? I didn't want to bake it because I will be making loads of changes to it as I play test it.
  12. By board edges, do you mean N,S,E,W? And, if so, when I'm looking at the map in the map designer, I presume top is North?
  13. Fair point. It is a gamersgate issue after all. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it's fine.
  14. How come I can get the 1.08 patch from here http://files.filefront.com/CMSF+v108+Gamersgate+All+Inclusive+Patchexe/;9937199;/fileinfo.html and yet Gamersgate download manager shows the latest patch as 1.07?? Why?
  15. I apparently installed the wrong patch (the incremental patch - I bought the game through GamersGate). After installing the patch, I got a message saying it couldn't find the eLicen40.dll file. So I've downloaded I think!!) the right patch...full 1.08 (179+MB) and installed it and I'm still getting the same message. Do I have to uninstall and reinstall the game now?
  16. I've created a scenario. I've assigned objectives. I've placed troops in 3D map mode. But when I come to play it, (I play as blue), the enemy are facing AWAY from the blue force and my blue force is easily taking them out. The red force doesn't seem to want to fire back, and they are facing back towards there own lines (which may account for why they are not retaliating). As I said, I've placed the units in 3D map and checked the facing...they all face toward the blue setup zone. But when I come to play, they are not retaliating and not facing the blue force. Any help would be appreciated. Thx
  17. I'm just going to try it out...bit one thing I noticed with this scenario (when I first spotted it, I thought I was crazy...but I've just seen it again)...when playing this the first time, I was certain I saw Wittman as a loader in one of the Tigers. When I loaded the scenario again to try it, he was commander. But I've just loaded it again, and he's loader. Does the game dynamically allocate people to units/positions? Even though< I presume, the scenario creator made Wittman a commander in a tank?
  18. It appears I was playing under Elite level and that the sighting works as some people stated here under Veteran. My apologies and thank you.
  19. I'm pretty sure the "hull down" is more of an exaggeration in that the hill is pretty tame...(if anyone has played this download mission, perhaps they know the hill I'm talking about) Well, there's nothing else to try. THx...I'll try it.
  20. Well, I can't remember what level I'm on...perhaps it's to do with Elite/Veteran/Whatever. I'll start a new game on Veteran and see.
  21. Well it doesn't here. I had no units selected and an enemy vehicle showed. I highlighted the enemy vehicle and saw dark shaded icons and light shaded icons. Clicking on ANY ONE of the light shaded icons, each time (from what I can remember), the enemy vhicle disappeared and became a ? So whilst I'm glad it works for you, it doesn't seem to here.
  22. Thx for taking the time to answer though. At least you tried )
  23. ht-57 I know how to perform area fire...I just don't think it's appropriate in this instance. From my perspective, the tank has CLEAR LoS to the enemy...they just don't think they have. I could be wrong, but to be completely honest, I personally think it's porked. I'm taking hits from units I can see but apparently can't trace LoS to...even though it appears to me I have very good LoS to them.
