  1. Thanks for the link gnarly.

    @BLSTK, I wish I was all seeing...

What worries me though is when I first joined here, I purchased SC1, Combat Mission and Tacops,

    10+ years later....(still playing tacops!)

    but

Is Battlefront now putting all the eggs into the CM basket?

I hope it doesn't become a one trick pony.

  2. Major,

One reason why this game may not have seen too many user created scenarios may be due to the already excellent standard scenarios.

I have enjoyed the wide variety of that shipped with the CD.

...given you are now answering forum threads, I can only assume your holidays are over, and that work on V.5 has resumed smile.gif

@P.Nelson, currently getting into CEAW, but once that wears off, I'll get back into Tacops. It is the one game I always end up returning to, as it seems to present a great solo challenge.

  3. Welcome aboard Paul,

I have not found any ANZAC specific scenarios as standard, but it is quite easy to interchange existing scenarios with aus units.

-another Aus. player is most welcome; including you, that makes 3 that I know of. (it makes network games a little more possible when you're in the same timezone)

    regards

    -Smith (Melbourne)

  4. Thanks Marcus,

I'm waiting for the 1st CEAW patch before I mod the counters. There is also some issues with alpha map masks etc. that complicate the process, but I couldn't agree more, they are rather simplistic. Have you downloaded the 'old style' map for CEAW? absolutely brilliant. (what kills the game for me at the moment is the 1024x768 resolution; a little fuzzy). aside from that, fun to play.

The MWIF counters look awesome, (I'm not so convinced about Advanced Tactics however, not enough info on the counter, but made up for by the info bar.)

The best unit counters on any game I have played are in Anglo German Warfare, beautiful game, but has a pathetic A.I. and an impenetrable scenario editor. A real shame.

I started a map mod, (terrain and resources) for SC2, in the theme of tactics 2 and some of the old avalon hill games, but the SC2 patch has put that project 'on ice'; plus I was not happy with the mountain contours....

I will need to update the counters at some stage, as I have noticed that the allied minor flags do not quite sit proportionally in the HQ unit.

Thanks for the feedback, any comments or thoughts about improving colours or using camouflage patterns is welcome.

  5. Great thread people. smile.gif

What's going to happen when Victor releases Advanced Tactics? The game has hexes

The screenshots at matrix look

Could this become a never ending thread of threatened 'Fanboys' endlessly bemoaning about competition.

...try remembering back about 5-10 years ago, and think about how few decent wargames were even available, and rejoice in having CHOICES.

  6. Welcome aboard,

Yes, it is one of the great games.

No super flashy graphics or gee-whiz sound effects, but nail-biting action and suspense.

Also a very friendly, active community.

  7. @John,

thanks for message, re commenting to mailing lists.

There are 2 reasons why I don't do so.

    a) Partly it is intimidation, until I get a few more cpx's under my belt, I don't feel there is much that I can contribute to; as the regular contributors are the Tacops HARD CORE and often ex or serving military. as a gamer who just enjoys the challenge, I can offer little in terms of unit data or detailed links to new weapon systems etc...however, I am an avid reader of the list, as I like to see the momentum the development of V5 is heading.

    B) I've never actually seen a 'how-to' about the procedure for contibuting to the mail. I'm sure it's as easy as replying to the email, but again, polls are generally conducted at SZO/ EG and the forum thread there seems better populated than here; (perhaps because of the file repository options.) So I have seen little need to add my comments into the mix.

    regards

    A

  8. Dude, Victoria Monday March 12

    or

    12/03/07.

ie. this weekend in victoria is a long weekend, so melbourne based tacops players (am I the only one???), should all be signing up for the cpx this coming sunday morning.

    -NUFF SAID!

  9. The nxport automated mailing list, where all the serious (and not so serious) discussions about tacops takes place.

I'm too intimidated to post there, so just read the posts.

if you want to know how to get said mail, I'm sure someone a little more senior here can point you in the right direction. I've forgotten how I started it, but I'm glad I get it.
