  1. 1. I prefer contour lines, however, I'll take a grid. The simple fact is that although this is a three dimensional game it is displayed on a two dimensional screen. I need to see the subtleties (sp. I tried that three different ways) of the ground. I'm a sneaky bastard. I like the military crest and the blind spots. I can't see them well enough on the screen, and while perhaps that is more realistic, the fact that I can pan and zoom and swoop around like a bird isn't very realistic. If you want true realism, wouldn't you keep the viewpoint in "1". If I can fly around like God over the carnage I want to discern the lay of the land, seems a small step after the omnipresence factor. Besides, I'm a sneaky bastard. Oh, wait, I said that. 2. I want to speed the game up, and anything that helps...well, screw it, I'll stick with I'm a sneaky bastard.
  2. Another goodie..."The Road to Berlin, Stalin's War with Germany", John Erickson, New Haven and London, 1983.
  3. Any scenarios out there representing german shallow and deep recon troops (Front Aufklarungs Truppen and Kommando). During summer of 44, German troops penetrated Soviet lines up to 180 kilometers deep. Often linking up with Ukranian National Army guerillas. Supply was by air drop. Any RNNA (Russian National Army)?
  4. Try "The Threat, Inside the Soviet Military Machine". Andrew Cockburn, 1983, New York. Good look from the bottom up at Soviet Army.
  5. Wicky, Too much time spent in NYC, wit da goumbas.
  6. Every once in a while the perfectionist crawls out from below my facade of rubble. "Other", thanks. That terrain grid..is that like contour lines? My many years of reading contour maps has warped my mind, I'm lost without them curvy little lines.
  7. I know I was like a kid at Christmas when the game arrived. I didn't even read how to install it, just jammed the disk in and forged on. How many people read the instructions first?
  8. Can I shoot prisoners without a penalty? Are live prisoners more valuable than KIA's. What happens when I leave prisoners behind? Can they rejoin the fight?
  9. All these wonderful graphics. The banners are even interesting, so what's with that comic book screen shot of Germans in the snow? A screenshot of a good city battle or tanks on the steppe would have seemed more appropriate.
  10. Duly noted and corrected. Not a bad memory on my part though. I remember that from college. Thanks for the help in the old noggin department.
  11. Avalon Hill still in the collective conscience? Must be twenty years since I sent those red hordes packing. Love to see the old bastard ressurected. Keep us informed.
  12. After several scenarios involving armor in cities, I can only thank God I never faced any in real life. Geez, can you imagine them f**ing Somalis with Stalin II's? It's been ten years since the Mog, and I never realized how f'd up armor and infantry in a city can be. What a fantastic game. Expect to hear more from the new virgin on the block.
