  1. In some of your scenarios I have found out with delight those small unit battles. Right now I'm PBEMing some of them, including the Sapristi. Fun and thx! Can you list some others here?
  2. 'Yes, but as the average CM battle is battalion sized, or regiment/brigade sized at a push, it would make little difference to the game. It would make a difference in an operational game.' You hit the point Firefly. I understand that. I was just trying to say that the Eastern Front has a much greater immersion factor for me as it was by far the deciding front of WW2. Thanks.

  4. I have been reading about CMAK battles and no doubt they are interesting, but compared to the Eastern Front they seems like micro scale battles. Bagration alone boasted ~15 times the number of troops. The whole DAK probably won't even make an army in Russia. I know they can be ideal for CMAK battles but just thought I would let you know my thoughts. The Eastern Front is so huge in scale, no other theatre can be but a complete sideshow to it.

  6. Hi folks, What special advantage or disadvantage does the 'dawn' time of day signify?
  7. Ah, I see, I mainly play ME's. Thanks Dorosh and Sergei.
  8. By the way, has anyone noticed the heading of this post? 'Fermale Players?' What is a fermale? Umm, fer + male? So am I a fermale? May be!!
  9. Hmm.. a quick glance at my profile would show differently, unless you're another one who thinks Michael is a girl's name . </font>
  10. Nice article Bill. Thanks for posting. COG </font>

  13. Forgot to add the smily. It's for you to decide if it's true or not.
  14. What if I tell you I just found a beautiful 22 year blue-eyed blonde playing CM(BB)?
  15. Have you ever seen them used? I wonder how effective they are.
  16. Hmm, don't keep me waiting, tell me their handles pls . New to this board so don't have an idea!
  17. Umm, I have seen the occasional female scenario designer (Alanna Darling??), but no female player yet. Funny thing is, I thought FIONN KELLY of all ppl to be a FEMALE player LOL!! So, are you there in this board girls?!? Would be nice to see some in this ***MALE*** game.
  18. The Most Brutal Battles of The Eastern Front I know that you ppl have a lot of readings on the battles of the Eastern Front. You all have your own mental images and visualizaitions of EF battles. What, in your opinion was the most brutal battle of the Eastern Front? Why do you think so? Enlighten us pls. For me, it is, ofcourse, Inner City Stalingrad and the Cherkassy (Korshun) Pocket. The 700,000 dead of Leningrad also haunts me, but they weren't direct war casualties. Other incidents include the Zeelow Heights and one description of a AG Centre battle where German Medics, who went in to treat the wounded Russians were shot at. This shows the barbaricness if the war. The breakthrough of the German 9th Army also seems to me to be very desparate, though I have read little on it. Kursk will always be on my list of great battles, but Prokhorova for me will be brutal. Actually, I don't have much readings on the Eastern Front. It fascinates me tremendously, but I haven't yet been able to find many literature on it here. I would have to look a bit more and hopefully I can find some more books. It's your turn now!
  19. Hi Wild Bill, I am a tremendous fan of your great maps. I have thought several times of mailing you personally and thank you for providing such great entertainment but I am damn lazy. 7 of my 9 current CMBO PBEMs are being played on your maps. If you didn't know already, most of my PBEM partners also like your maps very much. I was a bit disappointed to find no CMBB maps from you (I actaully though WWB = WBW but later found out it was not you, though Wyatt's maps are great too). Thank you for doing all the hard work. Have a nice easy life and crank out some great scenarios for us pls. God bless you!
  20. In which situation can it be of most use? Is it mainly for the use of assault or recon units? What exactly does this command do? I have the manual but can't get much out of it.
  21. Is the Russian 12.7 mm DShK heavy machinegun like the .50 calibre USA one? In which situation is it most helpful (I mean in which case it would be extra advantageous to use them over the cheaper Maxims)? Should it be used at all?
  22. In CMBO, I was (and still am) very much a fond of Wild Bill Willder's long, informative briefings. They taught me a lot and I throughly enjoyed reading them. Unfortunately CMBB scenarios doesn't have much in the way of briefing. IMHO this is one thing CMBB lacks which CMBO had in plenty: great briefings. It can also teach you a lot. What do you ppl think? I hope CMAK scenarios get bigger, more informative and historical briefing. Another thing happens in CMBB (and also sometimes in CMBO) that I play a battle an keep wondering who actually won it in RL. Some CMBO and CMBB scenarios tell of the aftermath. Unfortunately, a large number of scenarios do not. Don't you think including battle aftermaths for a scenario except for a few special cases can increase the attraction and incentive to playing that battle somwhat? It would also be nice to compare things with RL. TIA. -- Monwar
  23. When playing CMBB, do you sometimes feel like you're really battling in the Eastern Front? Do you sometimes get that immersed? I have some such experience. Firstly the weather settings provide a great atmosphere. Extreme Cold and Deep Snow makes me shiver sometimes when I really get into it and try to place myself in the soldiers boot, in this case a Finnish Jaakari squad. Sometimes my troop choice makes me feel helpless against the other side. Like in one of my current PBEMs I just have Finnish Vickers T-26s and the opponent has T-34s. Sometimes the whole game environment provides that feeling. Going to the first level view ('grunt's eye') also helps in getting into the game. Would like to know your experience.
