If you don't believe me try it.

This scenario really rocks... :D best example of the AI I have ever seen attacking... give it a +2 or +3, turn up the surround sound, grab onto your chair and hope that Lt Oberloskamp and platoon doesn't miss a shot... :D

FRAPS is a program that allows one to make movies from one's games, etc. As I understand it, it captures each frame to a file which is formatted as .AVI(?)

    Hope this helps.

I have FRAPS and its a good product.. Yes it does make an AVI and you can edit it.. Just beware that it creates really huge files... 60 second CM turn I have seen as 621 MB...

and also if you dont have a high end processor it wont run that great.. I would say a 2.5 and above plus you need XP or 2000... It will let you adjust to FPS and 1/2 or full screen files...

    Hope that helps...

Theike ...... (Man we miss you).. .Master of da Maps... post it at The Proving Grounds I get lots of feedback on my scenarios.. about 1 feedback for every 6 downloads... of course they are in playtest mode... but we got about 90 members who are real aggressive with the design, testing, and feedback...

GJK .. Come on now... just cause you kicked my ars in the last battle doesn't mean you can do it again... but you can try... Standartenführer Krockover :D

    That is all...

  4. I design all my scenarios for my own enjoyment. If others can get enjoyment from them too thats just dandy. I do however believe the site owners (Scenario Depot, CMMODS, The Proving Grounds, and others) deserve a little tickle if players and designers can afford it, because without those sites the vehicle to play and distribute Scenarios and Mods would not be there and thus the CM world would be a duller place...

    That is all...

  5. Quoted from RockinHarry

"Although one could say that a typical CM scenario is too short to include new intel given during game play by units/HQs outside the players forces (Air recon, POW interroagation ect.), it also can be implemented with help of external applications. I think I even read it already somewhere in the CM boards. As CM unit leaders can be renamed, you can use the available 15 characters for other purposes, like ZIP file codes. Have a low point sniper/scout unit (with no ammo) coming in as reinforcement at a certain game turn and have the leader named as a ZIP file code. Example: Sgt. "CaseBlue", where "CaseBlue" is the code that you need to use to decode a ZIP file (shipped with the scenario file by the scenario maker btw.). This ZIP then contains a Word/Plain text or Acrobat file that gives you new intel of any sort. Example: "Corps Air reconnaissance reports armored columns moving from...to...". Or: "Interrogation of POW results in identifying of the crack "100th division" facing us..." ect. Off course you can do this sort of stuff in a CM operation, without the need to task switch out of CM and open Word/Winzip ect., but if you want it to make single scenarios more interesting...

Used it in some SPWAW scenario couple years ago, but again..didn´t receive any feedback on it. Oh well.."

This is an awesome idea, bascially an on battlefield update via a "runner" of sorts... I believe this could greatly enhance "battlefield intelligence" during game play.. I am going to play around with this and test it out on some of my scenario's over at The Proving Grounds

    Thanx RnH

  6. Hello John Kettler

No offense taken... I am a little rough around the edges and have a tendency to attack (thats what makes me a lousy wargamer :D ).... Just ask people at The Proving Grounds.. I did send files to Marco at BFC and hopefully he will give me a response... maybe Sergei is right and it was a rare occurence... but somehow I doubt it... And thank you John for your input... the last thing I want to do is upset one of the finest online communities I know

  7. Thanks for the Help John Kettler...

First off I am not posting any spoilers.... except maybe I got an Arty Spotter... Second off if you read my thread it says I was playing the AI... Not Chris F... who is the scenario designer... Actually he is looking for feedback on his scenario thus the link to The Proving Grounds Discussion Area for that Scenario Third I only have the starting point of the 3rd battle for BFC to check (but they dont have the time based upon all the other threads I have read here)..... So basically I was asking if anyone had seen this before.... I hope I didn't piss anyone off  being so offensive and such a newbie.... I was just looking for an answer!!!!

Next time I will ask elsewhere ... Thanx

  8. Hey All

Playing a great operation vs AI (Chris F - Battle Between Swift Rivers)( Here is the post I left) and on the third battle I receive reinforcements... one is a 76mm Arty Spotter with 240 rds.

So I place him (within the setup guidelines of battle 3) and bang I get hit right there first turn of that battle with HE.... So I says to myself... since I saved last turn.. I will put him somewhere else... not moving anyone else.. they are still in the same place... hit go... Wham... HE right where the spotter is.... did the same thing again.. different spot for the Arty Spotter.... Wham.... same thing again... Whats up wit dat...

All three times Spotter was out of LOS/LOF... now how did the AI know he was there... "Good Intelligence" I guess....

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this

  9. Hey dugfromtheearth

Thanx for the feedback.. I agree with you about the Briefings they do need more "dash"!!! I being a technical type do not have a flair for writing but I will work on it.

The map is based upon Camusett State Park on Long Island. It is actually a 1920's estate built by Marhsall Fields. I grew up right there and know that park like the back of my hand. I like you idea about the garden (the real garden has apple trees there). As far as breeze and fog. I grew up on Long Island sound.. and hell there is always lots of Fog and yes it can be breezy. I think inland the Fog is less dense and has a tendency to break apart. But thick fog with a breeze is really spooky especially at night..

After I get some more feedback at The Proving Grounds I will consider some of your terrain suggestions.

Thank you again for your input.

    Regards and Happy Holidays

  10. Hey Dug!!!

Its simple... The Angel (she is a sharpshooter with no ammo) appears as a reinforcment with about 10-15 turns to go in the enemy occupied Mansion (you should have that secure by then or you lose).. You then have to get her back to the water and on assault boats that have shown up and exit her off the map... it plays very much like my Something About Nadia CMBB scenario...

hope that helps!!! There are screenshots and briefing information at my website

  11. Hello All

Just posted at The Proving Grounds a new CMAK scenario called Angel of Sicily

    Overview (Fictional)

As the Allied forces invaded Sicily, a secret British Commando raid took place on the North West end of the island near the town of Custonaci. The British Commando’s, lead by Major Bob Millard were brought through the Gulfo di Bonagia to land on the shores of the Confano Mansion. The mission was to rescue Maria Tito (The Angel of Sicily) from the hands of SS-Stabsscharführer Krockmann who has been interrogating her. Maria knows of vital allied attack plans and must be rescued before the SS get the information.

This is not a typical Combat Mission Scenario. The Victory Objectives are not to take VL and kill enemy troops the main objective is to rescue The Angel of Sicily.

FEEDBACK - Good, Bad or Ugly is always appreciated.

I will also be posting it at my CM site (link below) with my other CMAK Scenarios

    Damn I love this addiction!!!!!

    Regards...

  12. Hi Biff

IMO I have seen that on my laptop with CMBO.. some of delay is the need to draw the added features in setup.. Bases, Setup Zone Lines... also does the secnario open with all options set... i.e. Extreme Weather, Extreme Trees, etc.. also the Horizon can play into it.. question for Kwazy Dog (who by the way is member no 1 at The Proving Grounds) does the game load the setup turn from options loaded in the scenario file and then after loading switch to the options of the latest settings in the game .. i.e. No Weather, No Trees.. I think that would explain it... but I am not sure..

Hey and Kwazy come back an visit once in a while ... your missed

    Regards

  13. Welcome to the world of CMBO Dug

Now play CMBB and try the same tactics... I would be interested in what you feel is the difference in tactics... IMO most of the time in PBEM's that for each CM game one should have seperate tactics... not based upon scenario (cause I believe scenario tactics to be tendencies of your opponent) but tactics for the two games are completely different.. just look at the HMG42 ... Hory Cow...Am I describing the Human TacAI vs Human AI... jeeezzz its been a long night..

  14. Hi Michael...

Based upon the rating system you described, I believe that your rating system would be a bigtime benefit to the scenario designer. A lot more then the current rating system.

Being fairly new to the CM series (and also being fond of designing), when I first went to the Scenario Depot it appeared to me that the site wasn't really intended for feedback to the designer but more for the multitude of players looking to pick up different scenario's to play ( I think that Admiral Keth has done an awesome job with that site by the way).

After posting 4 scenario's at the Scenario Depot and watching each get downloaded about 100-200 times without feedback I went on a search. Thats where I discovered The Proving Grounds of which one portion of the site was specifically developed with the designer in mind. Right now there are about 40-60 very active members (mostly designers) that are giving, discussing, and receive quality feedback (via Playtesting) while developing the best possible scenario's they can for posting at The Scenario Depot. I believe your rating system could be very advantagous to TPG and I hope GJK will look at it closely.

Thank you for the detailed breakdown of the ratings.. I think you hit the "nail" on the head

    Regards,

    FredRocker
