Forgive me for asking, but are there hi res sky mods for CMAK? I have installed MikeyD's mods which lower the elevation of the distant mountains, and some which show high altitude bombers contrails, but these seem to be low res. Are there hi res sky mods for CMAK like Undaunted's for CMBB? I suppose those will not work, or will look funny, if installed in CMAK? Thanks for the help.

Seriously, I used to play these games in '02-'03 and have just come back to them b/c....Combat Mission is still the best tactical WWII game(s) out there. I believe quite a few gamers are in this same boat....coming back after seeing nothing has eclipsed the CM series, even after ~5 yrs.

Agreed MD, awards meant a lot and were not tossed around such as Steiner suggested....I think his charachter was supposed be an extremely disillusioned old vet though. Who wouldnt be, but i agree that is probably a bit dramatic.
Overall though, Enigma has a great point...its way more accurate than most films of the time, or since.

I love the movie. I think the best thing about it is the actual characters themselves. Coburn plays a great Steiner, and how can you not love Kruger and Snowbart?
Peckinpah's style is unique and helps emphasize the terrible things you are exposed to. For example, notice how most action scenes are slowed down dramatically, starting with the raid on the mortar section at the start.

I suppose the big question is which part of the battle are you trying to simulate? Sounds like the early German assaults in August?

In the current battle I'm playing, I have four total HMG-34's and two HMG-42's. It is April '43 in the North, overcast, cold, and wet. Both '42's are currently jammed, and none of the '34's are. Is this just a bad coincidence, or does the HMG-42 jam more frequently? If the answer is yes it does jam more than a '34.....is this also true for the LMG variants?

Ahh, I see...just b/c I rolled an "Inf only" battle doesnt necessarily mean I must use SS Inf just b/c that's my core force makeup. I could choose any kind of Inf(FJ, LW, Heer, etc)?

I just wanted to be sure that your QC didnt tell me what the support troop's exp should be. I will set to Random in the QB generator.
I seem to recall now that if you chose all green troops for example, a few conscript and also regular units would be in your force, which tends to equal out overall to green for the whole force. I dont like this....by god, if im forced to deal with green troops.....id rather have all green instead of a handful of reg/conscript's thrown in!!! You cant even set cover acrcs for them....kind of seems ridiculous historically to have conscript SS Inf in July '42. Ill stop whining....thanks Robert!

Gotcha. So i suppose it is correct that my support force is made up of a mix of conscript and green troops, b/c the QB generator picked low quality troops as it's random pick?

No ww2steel it doesnt. I recall being very disappointed when I rec'd it around 4 yrs ago. It is handy as far as looking up penetration and firepower data, but if they go this far, why not include the whole shabang....blast strength for HE rounds comes to mind as someone mentioned above.
The actual manual that came with cmbb yrs ago is awesome and a lot more useful...especially if youre an old hand already.
$15 for this and then you have to dl and print and bind....the price is too high for what you get.
I only learned one or 2 tips when reading originally i recall....one was to split a couple of SQ's and scout with them in advance so you dont risk too many men being surprised while performing recon.

Robert, thanks for your awesome work on this campaign! I am loving the depth it adds to this game.
There's one thing im not sure about...the quality of the supporting force units. Do you just set the QB generator to Random each time and thats it?

Just checked it out. High compliments all around for CMAK. And if you noticed, I think almost every other game they reviewed received terrible scores, compared to CMAK's 92(a 93 is the highest ive ever seen in that mag). Well deserved praise for an excellent game.

Does terrain effect command distance? If so, how is it possible to tell if an attached unit is actually within the adjusted command range? Or is it that terrain and enemy ZOC do no affect the 5 tile range that an HQ unit delivers?
