  1. No their right, the armor slope is the second number though, the first is it's thickness in mm.
  2. Sergei: "Damn it's cold in here, would it kill you to put up the top?" Vasiliy: "Yeah, we'll pick up lots of chicks with the top up." Segei: "WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF F###ING NOWHERE, do you see any chicks?" Vasiliy: "It's a matter of principle" Segei: "See if I care when they cut your black frostbitten hands off.
  3. It's been about 3 weeks since I saw the episode of Band of Brothers but yes, it was in the 3rd or fourth episode. I remeber having read about it on a website a day or two before and then seeing it on BoB was a pleasant surprise. Yeah it's overkill but I would imagine that that happens a lot in combat. Course if you think about it a .22 is all you really need to kill someone, everything else is just insurance. [ November 26, 2002, 11:15 PM: Message edited by: KwK43 L/71 ]
  4. Kinda makes me wonder if he's ever played SP:WaW. If he had he'd never complain about the graphics again. Given the size of the battles the models are as detailed as they can be without incuring major performance penalties.
  5. I've had my copy for all of 60 hours and the first time I actually yelled at my infantry to hurry up and take a house before the reds did I knew I was hooked. "Move your asses, Schnell, SCHNELL!!!"
  6. Oh hell, I just dropped my Oreo in the milk, damn, anyways... I just got my copy of CMBB installed last night and so far I've played three QBs. My first was a 500 point meeting engagement on a medium map, medium trees, village, almost no hills. I took a Pz IVG (late), two companies of Panzergrenadiers, and two each of panzerschreks and MG42's all SS. The second was pretty much the same but with 700 points and an extra Pz IV. The third I went to 1000, 2 Pz IV's, a Puma, a Werbelwind, and a Spkw251 37mm, and two infantry comps with some LMGs. Still all veteran SS. I cleaned house in all of them winning a Major Victory, a Tactical, and a Total. My main question is, do I need to give the AI more of an advantage or did I just do something right? Also, my Puma on the third QB was a dynamo, he took out 3 armored cars, 3 machine gun carriers, and caused 10 infantry casualties. Unless someone can make a really salient point as to how the 50mm Puma really sucks I'll be taking one along with my for the rest of my days and putting him on Light armor detail. How effective are the flak wagons (Quad 20mm, Quad .50cals, 37mms) against infantry? My wirbelwind didn't seem to inflict any more casualties then my Pz IV's. I have to admit I expected more. What is the infatuation the computer has with the B4 armored cars and machinegun carriers? In all three scenarios the AI brought atleast 3 B4's and one MG carrier, in the third it had 6 B4's and 4 MG carriers. Just my assorted ramblings, and oh look, there's my Oreo, completely turned to mush, crap.
  7. I know that the Jagdtiger's was seperate loading for a fact, don't know about the other's though, have to check my bookshelf. Most modern tanks that I know of use unitary rounds, however most modern tanks are using guns specificly designed for tank use, not rapidly adapted artillery pieces. Modern technology, fatter cartridge cases, and big tanks allow these 120mm rounds to be one single round. However if memory serves I think that even some modern Soviet/Russian tanks with guns of 125mm use seperate loading shells and charges. Also I don't know of a single 155mm artillery that uses unitary rounds, far as I know they are almost all seperate. Except maybe for that wierd Swiss SP Arty, the one with the auto loader. The Pershing was going to have seperate loading ammo until they designed a new gun that used a cartridge that was shorter but fatter. Gave the same bang for the buck but was easier to manuver in the turrent. [ November 20, 2002, 05:32 PM: Message edited by: KwK43 L/71 ]
  8. WOHOO!!!!! It just got here. DAMN!!!! I can't play. Suddenly I despise college, I have a physics II exam Friday and then my brothers wedding all weekend. What kind of supreme being would condone such irony? Oh, I ordered it Friday afternoon and had it by midday Wednsday, I'm east coast USA. I have to say though that that is the most rapid delivery of anything I have ordered on-line yet.
  9. Considering that it was a rocket propelled mortar I would think that the odds of a Sturmtiger hitting a moving target would be pretty low. However, if that monster projectile did hit the blast alone should cause some serioius damage, destroyed optics, damaged running gear, basically anything outside the main armored shell would likely be trashed. Don't really know if it would get any penetration but with an explosive charge that big I wouldn't surprise me.
  10. The weight and length of those projectiles made loading them as a single cartridge almost impossibly awkward within the close confines of an AFV. Also if I remember both those and the 128mm were developed from artillery weapons where seperate shells and charges are the norm. They wanted to be able to rapidly adapt the weapons without having to majorly redesign them and having to create new production lines.
  11. That is just gorgeous. My copy of BB hasn't even arrived yet and I dl'd it.
  12. I bought this book about 3 months ago and I reckon ya'll might get a kick out of it. It's basically an encyclopedia of all operational German AFV's of WWII. It's slanted towards the tanks but still has quite a bit of info on half tracks and the like. It also has info on tank cannons, engines, radio's, ammo, and optics. It doesn't have technical drawings but it does have more then a thousand pictures. Title: Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two. Authors: Peter Chamberlain and Hilary Doyle ISBN: 1-85409-518-8 Just thought I'd throw this up here, thought somebody might get some use out of it.
  13. Same here, ordered it last Friday so I hope that it gets here before next weekend.
