  1. Ok. This will be a first for me too. I'm thinking a TCP/IP game would be fun tonight, I've got the rest of the week off and cold brew in the fridge. I might go see Terminator 3 tonight, but that'd be about the only thing that would interfer . A PBEM is doable too. My e-mail is bonehoard@yahoo.com. More about my skill level...I'm not a hardcore grog so I don't know the in's and outs of all the equipment. I'm not one of those guys that has the perfect fighting combo down. For that reason I like to play *gasp* random forces sometimes but whatever is fine with me, I'm sure it will be fun. Like Hunter Thompson said "No, learn to enjoy losing."
  2. NG Cavscout, I'll play you if you'd like sometime. I'm a veteran of CMBO but I've never played CMBB against a human. I've just been bullying around the AI. So I'm pretty green.
  3. I'm glad you guys got a good laugh out of it. I made this out of frustration lol. It seems the only good battles in WW2OL have no significant outcome on the overall war. The lamest battles (spawn camping) directly effect the war. It bums me out. But I guess they're doing things to fix this, making multiple spawns and stuff.
  4. Do you need to actually move your squad into the hedge or wall to gain the benifit of having it's cover, or can you just be behind it?
  5. Hey guys I made a map for CMBB that simulates 90% of the battles in WW2 Online. If you're wondering what it's like try it out. If you've played ww2ol then you might get a good laugh. Oh and PLAY AS ALLIES FIRST. Here's the goodness.
  6. Yep tried that mike. Did some searching though, it seems like a major win for the Axis is next to impossible.
  7. Ah the search feature, thanks. Now I see I'm not alone in my defeats. Tough map.
  8. I've had 2 tie games as axis. I just can't seem to pull it together for a win though. I'm looking for any advice from some experienced players. One of the reasons I'm focusing on this map is because I feel it would have been alot easer in CMBO as Axis. I'm finding I have a really tough time attacking at all in CMBB. I'm sure this is much more realistic but it's hard adjusting. I need help
  9. I might be able to host. How big, on average, are these PBEM files? I have my own business with a website that I might be able to use. It's sort of inactive so I don't think it would be a problem. http://www.arroyostudios.com [ January 08, 2003, 09:23 PM: Message edited by: FreeKitten ]
  10. I loved downloading and watching Fion's PBEM games. I've searched for PBEM games for CMBB but I haven't found any. I used to watch his games like I'd watch my DVDs, sit back and relax with a cold brew... I wish there were more =(
  11. Will we be able to download the PBEM files to watch them afterwards. I'm not interested in playing, I'm a horrible player, but I love to watch other peoples' PBEM games and learn from what they do.
  12. I see your point, but that's why it should be an OPTION. Just like warning lables is an option. I don't ever play with warning labels on, too much clutter for me. I prefer to watch the action over a few times even to the point where I'll watch each unit the whole 60 seconds. And that right there is another point, this isn't a twitch game so sorting out the battle instantly shouldn't be a worry. This is a war sim, not Martha Stewart's Tidy Countryside simulation where bodies and things you don't want to see are instaly tidied up.
  13. I'm sure it would take more CPU power to display even a soldier sprite. But it wouldn't take as much as a 3D model of a soldier on the ground. It would just be 2 polys per soldier sprite (I think, 2 polys to make a rectangle) . I think most computers could handle it, and if they couldn't, there should be an option to turn them on and off, seeing as how there is no major advantage to having them displayed. I was hoping this would be added for CM. I love these little extras. After all, we all love to see our enemies wrecked, smoking/burning tanks lying dead on the battle field. They're almost a kind of visual trophy.
  14. Thanks for the list. I guess, more specifially, what I was looking for was the actual PBEM files with the supplied password to view them. So that you could watch the battle play out on both sides. I always feel like I learn alot from watching other people play. Know where I can find these for CMBB?
  15. I think I know a way where they could show the bodies of soldiers and not suffer performance loss at all. I think I have to agree that they would be a visual helper...letting you see quickly how much damge you're dishing out to an enemy squad, etc. They could have bodies displayed using the same method as shell craters. If I'm not mistake, craters are just flat sprites pasted on the ground. Well, you could have several different sprites for different soldier types that just lay flat on the ground. I think this would be great. Any comments from battlefront on this? [ October 25, 2002, 03:01 PM: Message edited by: FreeKitten ]
  16. Hi all. This is my first post. Anyway(s), down to business, I'm just curious as to what happened to all the AAR or PBEM games that people would post of their past games. It seems like they was more popular with CMBO, but now that CMBB has been out for a while I haven't seen any of them. I really liked the Fion Kelly games that were on CM HQ. Is there any chance we'll see more of these in the future? Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place...
