  1. I'll be giving CSM another couple of days to get in touch .... but would like the final to be underway before the weekend. (If the game was still running then I'd obviously let it take its course )

    Steve, you are obviously in.

Dr Juzzy, as your game with CSM was already underway before losing contact, then by default you win unless he gets in touch.

OK then we'll go with the 2 game final. You both seem happy with 1250 points and 23+ turns, no casualties, so we'll go with those settings.

The date will be 1945 - the terrain was due to be 'city' but as there will be two games with the same settings, I'm happy for that to change as long as both players are in agreement.

Any preferences on force mix / quality / terrain.

(remember BOTH games will have the same settings, but you'll play one as Allied one as Axis)

    Thoughts & ideas !

  2. Hopefully CSM will get in touch soon and things can continue as normal. It may be that the new addition to his family is taking up too much of his time ....(god I remember how that feels )

...If no contact then I'll have to make another decision.

Now a question about the final for Steve, Dr Juzzy, CSM and anybody else with an opinion.

To avoid one player getting an unfair advantage with the QB settings - how do you guys feel about deciding the final over 2 games ... same settings for both, but swapping sides. Adding up the scores as normal and the highest total score wins the tournament.

I know some of the games have been taking quite a while to play out. So they could be smaller battles, it depends on your turn rate .... Could even run both games at the same time !

    Any thoughts / ideas ??????

  3. In McMMM you shouldnt need to uninstall one mod before applying another for the same type of unit.

I didnt see any similar problems when testing ... and if there was going to be a problem I dont think it would show a 'white' area on the unit.

Of course if thats what you've got then I could be wrong...... :D

If you want to send me the mods ... or links to them, then I'll give it a try and see if I can reproduce it. Otherwise if there is a genuine problem .... use the 'send bug report' option to let GaJ look into it

    Lou

  4. Steve ..... Thanks for that ... It sounds like it was a good battle and not too one sided, or a forgone conclusion from the outset. On to the final for you smile.gif

Dr Juzzy .... I'll give CSM another few days to see if he makes contact. As we already have one finalist waiting I cant give him too long before making a decision on on what happens next.

Most probable outcome will be that you go through to the final against Steve.

  5. Buzzer.

*CMMOS and MCMMM are not "compatible"... soooo, which one should I use?

... Non CMMOS mods are not compatible with CMMOS, however McMMM can handle CMMOS mods as easily as any other mod.

    Limey.

You can download mods from CMHQ and use them with McMMM but you would have to remove all the extensions to the bmp number first - an extemely lengthy and boring task but lots of people have done it.

.........Not actually true. In McMMM, just select the CMMOS mod and the program will do all those 'lengthy and boring tasks' for you. It will also re-pack the bmp's into another zip file and label it exCMMOS_modname. You can then either backup or delete the original CMMOS mod.

    massimorocca.

Another question from an old Cmmoser now migrating to the new tool. I can store my mods in Cd abd tell the program to extract' em directly from the Cd, to spare the hard disk's space
I never tried that when testing McMMM, but I very much doubt you could, as McMMM creates a few files in your chosen mod directory. It needs these files to track what bmps have been overwritten

Overall : I'd certainly use McMMM. It can handle CMMOS and NON-CMMOS mods with ease. It doesnt need any confusing filesets, nor does it need the mod author (or 3rd party) to convert the mod to make it 'compatible'.

Oh and a big bonus is that it can support CMBO / CMBB and CMAK all from one interface..

I know GreenAsJade is currently working on adding more features.

Any more questions ... just drop a line and I'll see if I can help .....

And for those of you using McMMM ... how about giving GreenAsJade some feedback on its use/features ;)

  6. The NOWT final is getting closer.

It looks like SteveS is through to the final - Congratualation !

Wesreidau - hard luck .... its been a long slog from the first NOWT game .... there will be a place in any future CMAK tournament if you want it.

Any feedback from either player on the way the settings effected the game balance would be welcome.

Any update on the CSM / Dr Juzzy battle ?

  7. I dunno when the release dates will be, but two good dates would be......

18 Nov for the demo - Anniversary of Op Crusader, the (3rd) attempt to relieve Tobruk.

Also IIRC the first major operation by the 8th Army.

7 Dec for the full game - Anniversary of the end of the (242 day) seige of Tobruk.

The first major defeat of German land forces in WW2.

.........Fitting dates for a NA game, but I wouldnt complain if it were sooner ;)

  9. If you are looking for feedback on your map (and any future ones) why not pay a visit to The Proving Grounds and post it there.

(check the links in my sig)

The site has lots of beta scenarios and maps from authors wanting feedback ... and more importantly, actually getting some feedback.

.... and you can also find CM opponents.

  10. McMMMv152b.zip

GreenAsJade recently released version 1.52 beta of his new McMMM mod manager that was made available on the front page at the cmmods website.

With his permission I am providing a temporary link to the zip file until cmmods is back up.

It has been well tested with CMBB and CMBO and should be fully compatible with CMAK once released.

No need for any CMMOS type rulesets or compliant mods ... it should work wit all the graphic mods that are currently available.

Read GreenAsJade's McMMM help file for details:

    McMMM Help

Its easy to use and it does the job

Any comments or suggestion should be directed to GreenAsJade or posted here.

  11. They're not singing to eachother are they :D

    I laugh everytime I see it !

    ================================================

Due to electrical works on my home, I have taken the webserver down.

If anybody wants I can put it back online later .... but at the moment I'm not planning on putting it back up, as there has only been limited interest in the last 24 hours.

  12. Thanks to GreenAsJade...............

The latest version of McMMM (1.52beta) has just been sent to me by GreenAsJade and is now available. (all feedback to GaJ please).

No need to uninstall the previous version, just extract to the same directory and overwrite the files ..... It should all work just fine.

    Lou2000 Temp Web Server

There is also a copy of the latest McMMM help

file so that those who have not tried it yet can get an idea of what McMMM can do.

Plus another small mod just added

  13. Lou2000 Temp Web Server

Not sure if there is still a need for this ...though it has had some use over the last couple of days.

I've changed it so that only newly uploaded mods and GreenAsJades McMMM mod manager are available for download.

If anybody has any new mods that they want to share here temporarily until cmmods is back on line, then just use the 'upload' function and they will be shared instantly.

There have been 13 new mods and 1 map pack uploaded in the last couple of days.

As an afterthought.... I've alos added the CDV UK patches ..... and if you are in need of a laugh ... check out the BushBlair mpg file in the Misc directory :DSuddenly it all makes sense !!!

If you are still looking for a copy of McMMM then try here Lou2000 Temp Web Server

Its on the first page .... there are also some new mods that have been posted since cmmods crashed.

    Lou2000

P.S. I am in no way connected with the new mods ... they are just here until they can be put up on cmmods.com

  15. Ebusitanus, did you try McMMM for managing your mods ?

You dont need all those rulesets or special compliant mods and the interface is very easy to use.

Using the mod details option you can view the bmp files before you actually install it into the game, and if you dont like the mod then just uninstall and McMMM will put back your original bmp's.

cmmods.com is still down, but you'll find mods and a copy of McMMM here Temp Web Server .

There are also a few new mods previously unavailable at cmmods.com

If you are still looking for a gridded grass then the CW_Grass and CW_steppe files at the above link should be OK for you.

You would be better backing up your bmp folder if you can .... I just zipped mine up and put it on CD for safe keeping.

There really isnt that much involved in using CM mods and as another poster mentioned, you dont actually need them !

  16. McMMM is a CM mod manager created by GreenAsJade.

If you are new to CM and mods then I suggest you use it to install and uninstall CM mods. It will allow you to install and remove mods and will backup and restore any bmp files that are overwritten.

All you need to do is tell McMMM where the game bmp directory is and also the location of a mod directory with all the zip files in it.

Then click New Mod and select those you want to try. It will then load the mod into the 'uninstalled mods' window. From here you can view the bmp's and any other files (text/jpg's etc), then just install into the 'active mods' window and its all done.

When you start up CMBB you will see the mod in place, if you dont like the mod just use McMMM to uninstall it and it will return your game to its previous state.

As an extra precaution you could always backup your CMBB bmp directory before you start playing around with mods ...... you shouldnt need to, but that way you will always be able to reload the BFC originals without fully reinstalling the game.

Some of the zips have readme files or a jpg image inside them , but that is up to the mod author.

The normal place to get mods is cmmods.com, however is it down at the moment (as explained in other threads), but it usually has a better description of the mod.

The temp webserver I have active will only list filenames ..... it should be enough in most cases. Sorry but thats all I can make it do.

Make sure you download McMMM, that way you can view the readme, bmp and image files before installing and if you dont like it then just use McMMM to remove it !

    COG

Not a problem. It's not a cure but may help a little. As I said, any mods uploaded can be forwarded once you have things under control.

Any sign of that from my firewall and it will come down and I'll change my IP address.

I have Norton antivirus and firewall active all the time, but I'll be watching

And ALL IP addresses get logged.

  19. To whoever was uploading the BERGMAN_20MM_FLAK mod. Can you resend it ..... I was part way through changing the upload directory location and the file came in corrupt. My fault :(

    The rest are all OK.

I've moved my upload directory so that all mods uploaded will go straight into a 'New Mods' directory and be instantly available ..... The only downside to this is that if you try to download a mod that is still being posted then it will be corrupt .... I suggest refreshing the webpage to see that the file size isnt changing.

..... I will regularly check that dir to make sure there isnt any 'JUNK' getting uploaded

Any files uploaded here will be sent to COG once cmmods is back working again.

Remember there is limited bandwidth ....I'm on broadband, but I'm not a commercial webserver !!

  20. Actually you dont get the Upload option in the free version ... only the Pro version, but as I use it between home and work I got this bought for me smile.gif However the 'upload' is a selectable option in the pro version. Along with password protection, but the free version is fully usable as it is ... no banners, ads or popups etc.

Also be aware that your IP address gets logged when you download.

Also if there are any Mod designers out there who want their new releases sharing then I'll be happy to put them in a 'New Mods' directory and share them from my PC.

I'll also edit/update the URL after I reboot / reconnect, but I only do that every couple of days. I'd also put a thread up in another fourm so the link wouldn't need bumping etc
