  1. Buenos dias: I have just finished "Ghosts of Radziedchow" scenario (kudos to the designer, attacking as the Russian has taught me a lesson of humility on my purported mastery of the game now I have realised I never got past tactics 101!) As I was losing my tintoy armada alarmingly fast, I decided to go all or nothing with the KVIs, one of them crested the main ridge and stopped in a patch of scattered trees, I was chuckling as I expected the (known ) German armor to run away tail between the legs when..."clank"... disaster struck, my kitty was inmobilised and the crew decided to call it a day and bugger out. I am really puzzled as to who really killed my beloved KVI. In the movie it just shows a plain "Hit" and that AFAIK means it has been hit by infantry close assault weapon...now on checking the map after the battle there are just two enemy squads in tha scattered trees patch one of them pinned and the other one in good order, I could swear the latter was the one who nailed my precious cute monster but it does not show up in the kill count box. Is FOG still in place in the AAR screen? , thanks in advance for the replies and sorry if this topic has been brought up already.
  2. Very interesting thread. On who won the Peninsular War: well nobody has mentioned the Spanish Army. Sure it was crap and Spanish Cavalry was even crappier but one thing easily overlooked is that every time a battle was lost the beaten forces rallied to fight back the French in no time, something the French were definitely not used to. Before 1808 it had been one decisive battle won and a Peace Treaty signed inmediately. First defeat of a French Army after the rolling victories of early 1800s was at the hands of lowly Spaniards at Bailen ( admittedly a massive stroke of luck ) On a Napoleon CM game: As mentioned above, no need to be same scale as current thing. I am no grog and the thing that hooked me up on CM was its 3D look. For me it was the right mix. My brother owns all Battleground titles but they all look as unwieldy and ,let me say ,boring as old boardgames , never fell in with it...but CMish Nappy with the amount of detail these guys put into their products and the simplicity of the interface, oh man!
  3. I was writing in jest obviously, there is no way the three guns can fit in such a small space without being one on top of another ...alright , agreed
  4. Have not you guys heard of the almighty Spanish three-barreled thingy?, a bit unwieldy and cumbersome it was, but devastating indeed. Notice the fellow with the funny hat on ( there is just one thing missing: a couple of flamenco dancers ) as he crouches to set the fuze alight. Pity forum rules forbid gore pictures since the follow up one would show those Polish lancers blown up sky-high
  5. thanks for the heads up. I googled up a review of LGAA...and silly me its 2 yrs old! , although it seems that the game needs further cutting of the rough edges. I am a bit wary of dipping my toes in it yet so I would rather wait till I get material feedback at the forum on its release. I'll stick to CM and dream on for the time being
  6. Buenos dias: Has anybody tried this? . I think it is real time but with the FOW and major c***-ups inherent to sending orders to your subordinates via messenger as someone pointed out above. It has an strategic side also where you pool resources available to build your army. The screenshots are very CM-esque (which is a good thing). I personally have not got my teeth into it , the forum seems to be deserted and I have not figured out whether the game has been actually released , or it is still in the developing process, but I am holding my breath for it. Imaging fighting "La Guerra de la Independencia" (that's the Peninsular War for you non-spanish ) on a strategic scale . I already envision my Spanish regulars trying to escape from a pincer move from the frogs errr french and then zoom in to slug it out a 3D battlefield...and have my regulars routinely crushed by the French Cavalry
  7. Buenos dias: It happened that I passed by and saw this thread about the SCW and since I am bored at work I went to google up a couple of pages that may be useful to the community. Unfortunately it is all in Spanish. on tanks: . If you scroll down to the links at the bottom, you'll fnd some really weird vehicles , never heard of them. I especially liked the armored Hispano Suiza, its Batmobile look rocks. Aparrently 200-odd were built using planks of metal, spare parts etc collectively known as "tiznados" =(blackened, soiled ). On Republican posters&propaganda . handy to give an pleasing to the eye historic coat to the layout of would-be SCW CMMOS, me thinks. Warning: some of the links are broken. Red yellow and purple instead, no?
  8. Buenos dias: Dear tiny slimey pond dweller (aka Louie the Toad) : It did work eventually , there is definitely a set-up time modeled for mortars, after a while into following turn they started lobbing shells at the target. To Tomik: the mortars were in woods and no house was in between them and target, I disagree on movement not affecting as per mentioned above. To Sargento Garcia: ¡Deberías ser degradado a cabo por falta de atención!, estaba hablando de morteros a pie thanks to all for your answers [ March 12, 2003, 06:42 AM: Message edited by: Belico adalid ]
  9. I should have been clearer, I was referring to CMBO (hence the British 3"). Target is past minimun range and HQ is not hidden (although this does not matter in CMBO IIRC ) and I could AREA TARGET the building although the spotting HQ could see just a side , not the whole of it. Anyway I guess set-up time is modeled internally for big mortars and it is not shown on screen as it is in CMBB. but it definitely pissed me off as I counted on the boys to do their job .THX for the reply
  10. Buenos dias: Sorry if this has been discussed before, I did a search but found nothing tackling this issue. I have a battery of three British 3" in C&C of an elite (+2 on Everything) HQ. Now this HQ has LOS to only one side of a building that I wholeheartedly want to blow up. LOS tool shows Building Area Fire tag (admittedly at the edge), the three gold lines are all locked on target...but not a single shot is fired . I am a bit baffled as to what went on. Do heavy weapons need a set-up time as in CMBB? (I moved the mortars to get in C&C the turn before. Thx in advance.
  11. Buenos dias Mike T has done a cool mod already with summer and two winter sets ( including makeshift winter camo using blankets in 41) posted at the MOD database. He went into further detail adding very useful info on the division for scenario designers , I am waiting for him to get it CMMOSized. Small wolrd , the authors of the book are two good friends of my brother's. They live in Toledo, Spain. Sometime 10 years ago they decided to honor a promise made to their grandma on her deathbed ( or so the story goes )and set forth to repatriate his KIA uncle buried in Chutiny?? and in the process they got involved in helping others repatriate corpses of relatives KIA in Russia serving for the Wehrmacht (I am not sure about the other side though, ), the book is an account of the trips to Russia...darn now I will have to call them and ask for a copy and read it
  12. I think that is superb after sales service. ¡Feliz Navidad a todos!
