You are unfortunate that this baby from Asus needs an Express Card slot and you only have the PC Card slot on your laptop.

The PC Card slot is mainly used for modems and network cards (e.g. wlan).

  2. The mission editior does not include a map editor - unfortunately... There will be around 30 maps included with the release version. Not all of each map is playable in each mission. So you can see different areas of the same map in different missions. You can play each map at different times of the year. That way we should get more variety than what the first impression of "30" maps implies.

There are no desert maps included in the release. All combat takes place in Poland, France, Russia and Germany. Maybe an add-on or a ToW2 - all depending of the (commercial) success of ToW.

Because NTSC probably wont work on my PC?

So which format will be sent to me?

NTSC and PAL is just the "output" format on your TV screen (e.g. number of rows and screen refresh rate...). The actual DVD should be the same for the whole worldwide market.

  4. The quality of posts should be relevant - not the quantity.

But nevertheless, after it being relativly quite over here, the sale announcement for the 19.04. has pout some life in the ToW forum. And that be itself is a good thing.

It seems there's no way around shipping in the order form...

Just check out the reply of Madmatt to a similar question before:

Hold up moon.....let me get this straight because your previous post does imply $35.

So for Digital download customers only - pre-ordering gives no savings, its $45 regardless?

If you Pre-Order, you will get the Download and Mail Delivery version for $45 plus shipping and handling.

If you want just the DVD version or just the Download version, you will have to wait until April 19th to order.

On April 19th, the Download and Mail Delivery version will go back up to its regular price of $55

Good luck with the game anyways.

Kes, I remember from orderng CM:BB that people without a credit card got together and ordered through somebody with a credit card. So, one person ordering for e.g. 5 others.

Do you not have some friends, family, computer buddies, work colleagues that could help you out here????

  7. IIRC Moon stated once about the walkthrougs that they are meant as tutorial missions. In them they want to make sure that you have the chance to try out all the possibilities of the game. Therefore capturing of equipment is probably overemphasized. Everything stands and falls with the scenario design and how well the scenario designer did his job (e.g. green crews leaving their equipment behind and running away..)

Realisitc delays of artillery and air strikes is something different. I have not read about the actual delays in the game.... But you get an icon on screen when e.g. an artillery strike is available. The delay from activation this icon to the actual strike was not mentioned yet.

  8. I have not come along precise info about the AI. But one thing could be interesting.

There is the option of having scripts in each scenario. That is one step to avoid the "wave after wave" attacks. With scripts it is the task of the scenario designer to improve the "visible" AI. This way the scenario designer can force a flanking maneuver of the AI troops. But, as you have mentioned it, how flexible the AI is to adopt to new situations..... we have to wait and see for the demo. Than we can see how the AI reacts to changing tactics of the human player.

Beside that let's hope that the AI of ToW will be challenging enough to improve replayability.

You know that with the 19. being a Thursday everybody who preordered it wants the game for the weekend before ;)

  10. Congratulations to the two teams!!

A long wait after first hearing about this game in 2002 comes finally to an end. Now delivering a good game and fulfilling all the expectations of us gamers will be the smallest step ;)

Normally I am very, let's say 'sceptical' about marketing statements. But I will definitely sign the two statements of Moon and of NB. How true about the development phase and our hopes for the game.

Now I wish us gamers the ball of our lifes with ToW and 1C and Battlefront a commercial success with ToW. May there be many add-ons and sequels coming....

    Amen

  11. Thanks for keeping us informed in such detail!

After intensively following the discussions on the ToW forum here at Battlefront for the last 8 months I am convinced that the majority of the comming customers (that voiced their opinion!) are happy with your decision to prioritise the quality over the timeline. And hopefully everybody else will agree after the release.

  12. Unfortunately you are wright :( At least in the way I guess you are aiming. In general there can be urban combat in ToW.....but it would be 100% streetfighting. In the first release of ToW soldiers can not enter buildings.

Battlefront said that this would be one of the bigger issues they would address later on. But AFAIK the have not mentioned if it could be added in a patch, add-on or in a -hopefully to come- ToW2.

  13. Maybe industrialised production of creative, non industrial products like good movies, good computer games etc., is just not the way to get the best products at the end......

But industrialised production is a good way of producing non creative products like hair dryers, toilet paper, standard movies and standard computer games. You can produce them cheap, repeatable and therefore relativly risk-free and plannable. And customers seem to be happy with them! At least with most of them.
