Are we questioning the iron-clad good sense of Adolf Hitler?Originally posted by aka_tom_w:BUT did anyone say that Hilter was a DOLT as a military strategic leader??
Like how crazy and megalomanic do you have to be to voluntarily decide it would be a "good thing" to open a 2nd front against a nation as HUGE and resource rich and long and deep (as in about 500 million football fields long/deep) as Russia?
3) Hilter was a dolt and and chose to invade Russia for What good reason  ???
THE reason Hitler sent Germany to war WAS to attack Russia. Yea, he wanted to get back at the French, and he wanted to get the corridor back, but Hitlers eyes were always firmly fixed east.
Hitler also knew that he could not resist a Soviet invasion with present borders. And a Soviet invasion would have happened eventually.

CMAK is a must own, IMHO, for any tactical wargamer.
I still favor CMBB, because I like the Ostfront better, but that is not to take anything away from CMAK. Great game, stop thinking, just buy it and don't thik twice.

Thanks for adding to the tremendous support which has been flooding in...
I too, think the floating OOB screen with interactive unit listing is a good idea. Of course, that has NOTHING to do with this thread! Now, if only there were a (drum roll) dedicated CMx2 Forum, your idea would dovetail nicely into a thread there.
If, in your wanderings, you stumble upon a thread about a dedicated CMx2 Forum, you may wish to find time to add a measure of support to it.
(The central core of this thread is the organization of the unit interface in the purchasing stage of a Quick Battle or the Scenario Editor.)
Thanks,
Ken
I was getting carried away.

have you thought about messing with their supression level?
-
No doubt about that. This is evident in my Iron Crusaders scenario. Very annoying. I think I read somewhere that victory flags would help help to anchor the defensive AI, but I'm not sure it helps much. And victory flags will tip off the attacker sometimes ruining an advantage given to the AI. I would like it if enemy infantry were less likely to leave foxholes or trenches early in a defensive scenario.Originally posted by gwta:I don't understand this aggressive defense either.
I have noticed the same, on many established scenarios, the defending AI will send its troops out of its prepared positions and right into wire, mines, etc.

When the time comes, such an idea would be great. As it stands now, some discussions and good ideas could get easily lost in the endless amount of threads and posts. Besides, the Brain in the Jar doesn't have to read the forum.

LOL, I would love being able to see the detailed OOB of my units, without having to write it out myself. And to be able to jump to each formation and give orders from that window. It could always be made an option for those who don't like the idea. I know this kind of idea has been kicked around these forums for a long time, so I am sure BF.C is aware of it. I do not recall their current stance on the issue. Any info about the new engine would be much appreciated, though.Originally posted by c3k:Thank you for adding your support.
BF.C, as you can see, there is a veritable ground-swell of public opinion rising to support this idea. You cannot hope to fight the increasing tide of consumer desire.

Thats a pretty good idea, I think.

I think a version of Combat Mission up till about 1990 would be very interesting an could be done.
Hell, I would even settle for just CMVC

I've had a chance to play just one scenario in CMAK, and I've enjoyed it. It is an awesome game, so I guess it comes down to which theater inspires you more.
I will always lean towards the east front. It's where the entire European war was won and lost.

That is very true.Originally posted by easytarget:hope you remembered to take some of the cmbb respones with a grain of salt
afer all, you did post your question in the cmbb forum
what did you expect these guys to say

I'm sure. But the CMBB manual is printed and binded, which is much better than .pdf's.Originally posted by MikeyD:"...And the manual is better"
Well, actually if you include the CMAK 'QuickGuide' and very nice color pdf manual the CMBB and CMAK manual(s) seem to be practically word-for-word identical! After all, most of the controls and terrain features work just the same in both.

My 3rd purchase from Battlefront.com (the others were CMBO and CMBB) and the 3rd fast delivery. Great work as always.

Still need more playtesters, a PTer at the Proving Grounds says:
I assume he played against the AI, but he didn't really state so.Hi, I have to say I seriously got my butt kicked in this one playing as the Axis!See the rest of the review here. But there are some minor spoilers. Please download from the link in my sig and play as the Axis against the Allied AI or PBEM and let me know how it goes.

LOL.
I just noticed that the topic of this thread could be read as "Die Wildnis 'I needs playtest'"
The "I" is supposed to be the Roman numberal. Not the word. As in Die Wildnis ONE needs playtest....
-
I would get CMAK and CMBB if I were you.
But if you can only get one, I would reccomend CMBB. But I'm an East Front nut at heart. And the manual is better.
CMAK is a great game, and I will have lots of fun playuing it, but I will not neglect CMBB just because of CMAK, and I think that many people will continue to play CMBB after the initial CMAK stuff wears off.

The Proving Grounds is a great resource. I hope to PT a couple scenarios tonight to help some designers out.
I also love getting the feedback from the other guys there.

Thanks. I responded to your review at TPG. Am interested to hear how it plays from the other side.Originally posted by GJK:Hi V,
Saw your scenario, I'll grab it in just a few and give it a spin solo tonight. Reviews and discussion will follow at TPG.

In the CMBO days, I used to get all my mods from CMHQ. I hardly ever go there any more.
I guess about the only thing its good for is its chat function, but I have not used that in some months.

Shouldn't be too hard to find the W@W series.
You might be able to rent them.
My father in law got the set on VHS for Xmas a couple years ago and I believe it has been released on DVD.

Hello, I am looking for playtesters to try out my newest CMBB offering. It is available for download right now at the Proving Grounds, the link is in my sig.
It is a small scenario, only 25 turns with about 800points total. Axis attack against Soviet partisans in a heavily wooded map.
I am looking for playtesters to try it vs. Allied AI and as PBEM or TCP/IP.
Please help me out.
It should be available at the scenario depot very soon.
