  1. I believe Kingfish's question is rhetorical. He is just placing emphasis on the fact that after all the games are completed, the quicker we turn in our AARs the quicker he can release final scores. Which, as he implies, is something we will all want.

  7. Nolloff, Sounds great. I need a practice round, since I haven't played much with CMAK yet. Send me a scenario, maybe something small to medium. Do you still have my email? Wellsonian
  8. Hey Nolloff! BTW, I did not represent our section well in the ROW III finals. I mastered the "Die in Place" and "Rout Off the Board" techniques. Hopefully I learned something. In my defense, I went up against some very good players. Want to see if it is possible for you to get another shot at me? I was fairly lucky in our first go around, so I figure I at least owe you an opportunity. Wellsonian
  9. Here is an interesting thing. I just received my CMAK. It occurred to me that the only reason I bought it was to try and participate in ROW IV. Don't get me wrong, I love the CM series, but I can honestly say that I wouldn't have bought it (due to RL, new kids, etc) if it weren't for the prospect of getting a chance to participate in an excellent tourney with excellent and friendly opponents. While I was lucky to make the finals against probably superior players (and then got crushed BTW)I believe that ROW tourneys and other such things are a great addition to the hobby as a whole. Awww, I guess I just want to post an appreciation to all the people who make this event happen (Kingfish, Treeburstl, Nabla, and the scenario designers who amaze and stun every time). Simply outstanding!
  10. Whoo Hoo! Now that those meddlesome twin girls of mine have been born, and they are now 4 months old, I can get enough sleep to participate! Not that I would ever, ever use my precious girls as an excuse for my, er, lack of performance in the ROW III section three finals. Ah, who am I kidding, I just simply got my head handed to me. But I'm game! I love "learning."
  11. I have to agree that the feedback provided by AAR's is probably the single most important part of entering a tournament such as this. It furthers the hobby, provides a vehicle for improvement, and should be considered the "cost" of participation. Having said that, I freely admit that I have only written 4 of 5 AARs, and I admit that only two were really to standard. Real Life does intrude, but maybe we should emphasis methods to help members complete these AARs. I remember reading a post from I think Holien, who stated that he writes AARs as he goes, instead of trying to spend the time writing it at the end. I have used this technique in the finals, and it is excellent. An extra 5 minutes per turn in most cases, and you are caught up. Anyway, maybe we need to share ideas on how we can "keep up." Shock ease up on the force multipliers. Don't you want a close game!
  12. H, And after re-reading my post, I apologize for my unintended tone as well... it sounded so much more reasonable and less harsh in my head! I meant my comments a little more tongue in cheek. I certainly don't think you were tooting your own horn. I've appreciated your sense of humor this whole tourney. Insomnia seems to be striking us all. W
  13. Stoneage, These comments are meant in the most constructive way, so don't take my comments harshly! I understand you trying to help your group and all, but I think you are missing several points (first being that the guys you mention finished better then 3, not 4, of the finalists). The biggest reason they don't go by total score is that it does nothing to ensure the best players are in the finals What I mean is that I could score a 0.12, and win my section because we were all very good. You could score a 0.81, simply because you had a good draw with five mediocre to worse players (not saying that is the case LT Bull!). I agree that it could work the other way, but at least this way we maintain a tourney format, and not a free for all. Add to that the fact that there is a 'newbie' tourney (tourney 3), and how fair is that for the new guys? Would you just throw them to the Holien (read experienced) wolves? By the way Holien, your use of parenthetical marks for the term, "Winners" to refer to other sections is a little, well, frustrating. I believe your intent was simply to give credit to your well established and veteran section, but dang guy, it was on a message board for all of us "winners" to see. Care to teach me a probably well earned (and possibly deserved)lesson? Now, a wild card concept is interesting, but only if it doesn't replace section winners. That would increase the incentive for players to finish games and do as well as they could, with the hope that they could get in on the wildcard. Regardless, good discussion. I know that I was very fortunate on several occasions (Nolloff, Jim) to even manage a few minor victories. Oh well, I will now take my grumbly self to bed.
  14. Nolloff, I'm about two days from finishing the AAR on our battle "The Beast." The long time is not because I have a better product, but because I have been busy dealing with Real Life (and taking Seahawk behind the woodshed, nervously wringing my hands with Ron and Jim, and mildly being rebuked by CDAT). Sorry Seahawk! Just kidding! Far from over! Actually, this AAR was very interesting. We both have some unique perspectives, and seem to have both made critical mistakes. Like I've always been taught, it comes down to the training and actions of individual soldiers. I will copy you when I send it of course. Our section is doing very well. Ron, please respond whenever possible. I'm dying over here!
  15. Kingfish, Excellent. I have no qualms whatsoever in continuing, and that seems to be the general consensus. Back to the Front!
  16. I really must say that all the maps are very well done (haven't seen RearGuard yet). Excellent work! I'm impressed, and now feel duty bound to return the favor by writing some decent AAR's at the completion of the regular season. CDAT, check your email!
  17. I am completely delighted to have secured the last spot in this Tourney. That has to be good luck, right? Right!? I have now "designated" myself the 72nd RCT, er, or BCT, or Task Force / Team / Battalion, well, whatever. This blind scenario thing has really messed with my naming conventions. I guess I will go with just the plain old 72nd. Can't wait for January.
  18. Hello! I'm quite possibly the newest of newbies to this forum, but reliable. I already spend a ridiculous amount of time with this great game anyway. Hopefully I'm not too late. Email - On The Way!
