Which was eerily similar to Napoleon's Grand Armee sitting by Boulougne for nearly 2 years waiting for the English to give in (or waiting for the Franco Spanish fleet to gain the upper hand; wait, was that a flying pig?) Without a ironclad control of the sea, amphib operations are very risky. The Guadalcanal operation could have turned into a tragedy for the Americans, had 2 of the naval battles gone badly for them. Even then, it was certainly no walkover.

 I don't remember that much, especially the last couple hours. We did go over the one scenario in our section that was completed by both of us, and it was resolved that the levels of victory reached by both of us would be about average. Which I was glad to hear, cuz I thought that I had gotten my butt beaten so bad that all the hair fell out, which would have meant my honorary UberFinn membership would have been revoked... :D I think that I am still a little hung over here, I think Rune and Berlislipped me a mickey.

  3. There were 7 of us(how magnificent) and there were no pictures taken as one of us is a bit camera shy and wanted no evidence that he/she is still alive. Damn, let that cat out of the bag. How many will suffer from that slip....oh, and it was agreed that 30-40 percent of the people that regularly post here need help; yours truly defintilyl included.

sorry, too much pilsmer druken tongiht. I would hat e to think that some would tink I am the iron chiekf.

So is this the time and place? I will try to be there. Hope I am not alone and holding a beer by myself....

  5. Friday the 26th is my game night. I would skip, but we are playing Battleground miniatures. It is our Bulge campaign, first major engagement at Stavelot, and I am the American commander.

Plus, based on the responses, I would have to say that the geographic center would trend further north than my bars' location in Richton Park.

The following Friday or Sat the 27th may be better, but that would just be me. You know, Hellfish, you could just go ahead and pick the date and place(NW it would seem) and post it. Otherwise, the only other thing would be an email poll for everyones open dates, correlate the date that has the most hits and pick that one.

  6. Here I come again to ask a question.

So after all the formulating is done and the "three wise men" are selected how is the final done. I would assume that they would play the other 2 in one battle each. Would they same scoring system be used? If so, could you use the median again with such a small sample to work with? Or, would the final scenarios be "balanced" so that the scoring system would not be needed? I know that the finals are "way in the future", but perhaps this is the time to discuss and address this.

  7. Personally, I hadn't reckoned on this degree of responsivness, but it is appreciated. Originally, I was just concerned about the "linear" nature of the original proposal. This has been addressed quite well in my opinion. Thanks to Nabla and Treeburst for all the time and effort that they have put into this system. I think that we will all be happy in the end. God knows that I may need this in one scenario, cuz I may be a "bit" under the median in that one it appears.

  8. I have just done 2 of those three. Squads were split during setup. On first turn, changed mind(no, I am not Blonde)Moved one half to the other and ordered it to hide.Non-moving was already hiding. Movement dot was placed on top of non-mover. At beginning next turn, they were one again and hiding. No foxhole was involved, though. That was the reason they had been split in the first place, to generate extra foxhole for 2nd line of defense in Operation. Damn thing was, it didn't give me any. Guess I lost too much ground in the first battle and didn't have time to dig when we "advanced to the rear" :D
