  1. In CMAK Italian Allied troops? and R.S.I fascist puppets? Of course Kingdom of Italy under rule of Mussolini is represented but what about Italy after armistice , Italian co-belligerent forces and Italian partisans in Allied side (1943->) and fascist puppets, the so called Italian Social Republic (R.S.I) or "Republic of Salo" 1943-1945 in Northern Italy. Probably not I think so. Yes, I have not yet bought the game (CDV or Euro € version), although I'm living Helsinki, Finland
  2. 28.11.2003 release date of CMAK CDV euro version! If you did not notice more info in this thread! Possible release date..? At least in Finland an so it seems also in Germany
  3. Ilmestymispäivä : = releasing day or publishing day(or whatever it is in English) 28.11.2003 , so probably same time also in Germany And this is info from finnish game supplier Plan1. Information: Coming Soon Games by Plan1 and Combat Mission Afrika Korps (PC) CDV release by Plan1 in Finland
  4. He probably means, are both included in CMAK the "good" French or Charles De Gaulle's Free French forces and the "bad" French or Philippe Petain's Vichy France? Charles De Gaulle Henri Philippe Pétain If both are included so somebody can do Syria scenario, were French are fighting each other, or scenario were Vichy French are fighting againt Americans in Tunisia or was it in Morocco? If the Vichy French forces would had better motivation in North-West Africa against Americans and Jean-Francois Darlan would had not changed to Allied side. If I remember right the Vichy France airforce in 1942 was quite effective compared to it's size and equipment against Allies ( I mean fighter planes), unlike its ground troops, Maybe the fighting in Africa would had last little longer. French flags (I hope Battlefront uses right flags for the French, but if not flags are easily moddable) French State, Vichy government (1940-1944)Etat français, gouvernement de Vichy Flag of the World web site - French State, Vichy government (1940-1944) Free French Forces (1940-1944) Forces Françaises Libres (FFL) Flags of the World web site - Free French Forces (1940-1944) By the way US recognized Vichy goverment, US had ambassador in Vichy. Vichy was collaborationist state, but It was not Axis country. Petain did not want to participate in war. Most disgusting on behalf of Vichy France was deportation of jews to the hands of Nazis and so to the concentration camps Vichy France was if not fascist at least semi-fascist country far from democracy. You could say the Petain was the dictator, but after the Germans invaded in 1942 the whole France (with Italy?), the Germans run the business totally in Vichy France, and Vichy French were totally puppets of Germany after German invasion of Vichy. Petain just want guard the sovereignty of France and it's colonies or what was it left after German invaded northern France and Paris and third republic collapsed, so in his eys the Free French were rebels. Pierre Laval otherwise wanted that Vichy France would militarily cooperate with germans, he was collaborationist in every sense, if not nazi at least truly opportunistic bastard. And of course in Charles De Gaulle's and Free French eyes the Vichy French were traitors of Motherland.
  5. New Screenshots of CMAK on Wargamer site Publication Date: 8/29/2003 Italian buildings, American soldiers and armour and German soldiers. The Wargamer - Screenshots Feature Combat Mission: Afrika Korps At least I have not seen these screenshots before.
  6. Switzerland and Sweden most clever nation during WW II? Your Opinion? Either did not take part in this worldwide conflict, neither were Allied or Axis, not good guys nor bad guys. They were neutral countries They managed quite well during the war, both Switzerland and Sweden made trade with both Allied (Good guys) and Axis (Bad Guys)maybe little bit oversimlification, but you get the picture. Sweden sold Iron ore to the Axis (Germans). Swiss had Nazi money on their banks. Sweden sold also grain and maybe also Switzerland. After the war those countries were relatively affluent and still belong to richest countries of the world. Switzerland and Sweden, immoral, greedy and opportunistic bastards made trade and prohited, while other countries suffered did not fight againts evil (Nazis) or clever, pragmatic countries, more clever than warring nations? Switzerland and Sweden did not waste their national resources and man power to the war. Maybe those countries were lucky bastards, because they could afford luxury of neutrality? Maybe unlike Finland? Many small countries were neutral but they were overrun by Germany during it's Blitzkrieg phase or like Finland choosed the German side PS. Yes we finns are quite jealous for this reason to Swedes. What is you opinion?
  7. Karelian front or Finnish front, The front between Finland and Soviet Union during The Continuation War 1941-1944. Continuation for Winter War 1939-1940, Finns tried get back their losed territories, which they lose because of Soviet aggression during Winter War and it's aftermath, Finns also occupied also Eastern Karelia, which never before belonged to independent Finland. Lost territories were Hanko cape and Hanko town (part of Finland also today), Petsamo in far north, Karelia and Karelian isthmus and Viipuri second largest town in Finland after Helsinki the capital situated in Karelian isthmus Because of invasion East Karelia United Kingdom also declared war to Finland, although it had also understanding Finnish desire to get back it's lost territories like USA had also understanding for it. UK warned Finland that if Finns cross the "old border" or invades Eastern Karelia it declares war to Finland and it declared. USA never declared war to Finland, but it warned also Finland, that it should not keep fighting againts Soviets 1944 and it should make armistice between Soviets as soon as possible. There was never actual fighting between Finns and British or British Commonwealth, Brits bombed Germans in Northern Finland and UK's airforce violated Finnish airspace in Far North, but there was no direct military action against Finns. Finns declared that they just want to fight against Soviets, and they have nothing against Western allies. By the way slavic, orthodox, czarist Bulgaria was counterpart to Finland, it was in war against Western allies but not against Soviet Union, but did not save Bulgaria, it became Soviet satellite after the war. Because the Soviets were in Western allied side, Finns could only get help from Nazi Germany. Finland was only democracy in German side and victim of Stalin's Soviet Union during Winter War, so it get some kind of sympathy and understanding from UK and USA. Of course Finns were not saints, at least we were in wrong side, if we think Nazi Germany and it's concentration camp's, but we did not have much choice, Hitler or Stalin? Vasal of Germany or slave unindenpendent country of Stalin's Soviet Union. Of course we could have choose most clever way, the way Sweden and Switzerland and be peaceful and neutral country and make profitable business with both Allies and Axis, that's why after the war Sweden and Switzerland were so relatively affluent countries and still are. But our politicians and our people desire to get lost territories was so great and Germany seemed so powerful and Soviet Union so weak against the Germany. We never know what would have happened if we have had decided to continue our neutral policy like in Winter War 1939-1940, could have stayed out of miserable war or would we have still slipped to the war against our own will because our proximity to Leningrad and Murmansk. Maybe one mistake was opportunistic invasion Eastern Karelia (building of Greater Finland= SuurSuomi) same time Finland got better defence positions, but I did not could keep those defence positons because of massive onslaught of Soviet forces 1944. Finnish independence was saved 1944 after initial collapse of the front, determined resistance of Finnish defence forces, German material (Panzerfausts, Panzerfausts, STuG III:s)and military assistance (German Stukas [Kurt Kuhlmey's Luftflotte 1] and Stug:s, Soviet diversion of it's forces against Germans, and armistice and peace between Finland and Soviet Union. Eastern Karelia was definetely and legally part of Soviet Union, although it's population was Karelian finno-ugric people, Karelian language is very close to Finnish language, it's quit easy to understand Karelian for a Finn. Finland was in very difficult and severe situation in those times. After the war, we finns had maybe little bit of odd view of the war, we were ashamed that we were in Nazi Germany's side, but still we were proud and still are proud of our defence forces and our war veteran's which saved our country's independence second time 1944, previous time was Winter War 1939-1940. PS. Nice pictures, but where is the pictures of major enemy in Karelian front, the Finns.
  8. Two last parts? O so I missed both last episodes, damn! I did not read your message first carefully. I hope they will rerun the documentary series here in Finland.
  9. There is still one episode left, Which Yle tv2 will broadcast next week, I did not see recent episode so I don't know which Soviets are referring the Germans, maybe "Fritz" I do not know, besides I don't understand Russian (little bit German but that's another case)and in finnish subtitles, translators have possibly used word "sakemanni" that's finnish counterpart for "Fritz". I don't know where the "sakemanni" comes from, possible sake from finnish word Saksa. Saksa means Germany in Finnish. Saksa word possibly comes from Sachsen (German state which capital was Dresden. And manni comes from Swedish word man (in english man) But maybe I could have figured out word "Fritz" from Russian, but as I said I did not see second, recent episode. By the way Finnish used also at least little bit also "Fritz" from Germans during the war at least grandfather which served in Finnish Fieldartillery as sergeant during the Continuation War. He said when he was travelling in the train in Finland during the war, he could see quite many "Fritzes" or German soldiers in the train, but "Fritz" guys were first our waffenbrüder not the enemies until later when Lappland War started .
  10. Damn, I missed the yesterday episode. I hope the Yle will rerun the Stalingrad documentary series. The first episode was not so good as I expected, there was no fancy 3D computer graphics or such neat things as were mentioned in the documentary series homepage, if I remember right. And there were only German and Russian (Ukrainian etc) interviews, not Romanian, Germans blamed the romanians for the Stalingrad pocket. There was no mention about Romanians or there was very little about in the first episode. The first episode ended to Soviet "pocketing" of Stalingrad and its surrounding area.
  11. Here is also description about the German Stalingrad documentary series in finnish (Yle TV2 www page) Translation to finnish Tässä on myös kuvaus saksalaisesta dokumenttisarjasta suomeksi (Yle TV 2:n www-sivull) Yle TV2 Dokumenttiprojekti: Stalingrad
  12. Hey all finns! German documentary about Stalingrad on finnish YLE TV2 channel today 22:05 finnish time Documentary series consist three episodes. Today they will broadcast the first one. Homepage of the documentary series It is produced for ZDF, TELEAC/NOT In association with finnish Yle public broadcasting company (you can compare finnish YLE to British BBC or in some extent to American PBS it's noncommercial state funded) and Russian Television.
  13. Some Hungarian armour words are misspelled in 2nd Edition of Strategy Guide Part 3 Page 13 "1 Zyrinni Assault Gun" , it should be 1 Zrinyi Assault Gun and "1 Casaba armoured car" it should be 1 Csaba armoured car. In the same page "The sharpshooters, two half-squads and the Casaba (right spelling Csaba) can scout out the enemy." In the same page "Once those assets are neutralized the Zyrinni (right spelling Zrinyi) assault gun can move forward to support the infantry's attack on the Victory Point Locations." And in the same page title text for screenshot picture "A Zyrinni (right spelling Zrinyi)assault gun blasts enemy positions." Also in page 3/27 "4x Zyrinni (right spelling Zrinyi) Assault guns" Anyway I would like to thank Battlefront for this new "free" second edition of CM:BB strategy guide.
  14. Thank for info regarding video cards Schrullenhaft! I can tell this Finnish winter is not so nice even for überfinn ! It could be about -25°C (-13°F) during the day even in Southern Finland, Helsinki area, and in warmer days city or town streets are like skating rings. In this winter many here in Finland have broken their legs and not this time elderly as usual but working age people in their hurry. Warming of apartments and broken legs cost lot to this country.
  15. Can somebody show me visual difference between Radeon and Geforce, I mean screenshots of CMBB with fog(Geforce) and without fog (Radeon) and with anti-aliasing (Geforce) and without anti-aliasing (Radeon. I know what term anti-aliasing means, but it would be nice to see in practice with screenshots of CMBB . That information could also helpful for other people who are considering buy CMBB (or already have like me) and updating their PC system. I have played CMBO and CMBB at my work with my Celeron 500 Mhz(or something like that) equiped with old Voodoo 3 videocard (don't ask why I have gamecard [and lousy 2D card] in my job and not good 2D videocard like Matrox or Ati with crystal clear picture not blurry). So do you know does Voodoo 3 support CMBB fog? Because I'm not sure if I have seen fog in CMBB. Maybe I have not played that kind of scenarios, which have fog or I don't remember, because it's longtime ago when I played CMBB (I have been about six weeks in sick leave, because I broke my ankle, when I ran on streets of Helsinki during Christmas Holidays [i was in hurry, because I did not want to be late from display of "Two Towers] at movie theater), so last time when I played CMBB was before Christmas holidays. One positive thing salary is running and I don't have to do nothing for it, thanks to Finnish system. I also spare money, because gasoline is very expensive here [very high tax] in Finland, because Finnish state want discourage private motoring and courage usage of public transport, public transport those pecularities of Old Europe ) When CMBB arrived to Finland, I saw people playing the game (CDV version CM2)in game department of Akateeminen kirjakauppa (Academic bookstore part of largest and finest department store Stockmann in Helsinki and in Finland ) The picture looked better in store than in my work's computer screen, I was quite impressed by the picture quality. So I asked from salesman what videocard they have in their display machines, he said Geforce 2 mx  , I wondered so good picture with that better than with Voodoo 3. Is there even noticeable difference between Geforce 2 MX and Voodoo 3 or is the cause my old Nokia monitor?
  16. What videocard is good for CM:BB? Radeon? I can not play with my current PC CM:BB at home. Now I'm buying new PC bit by bit and I will assemble myself. Mainboard with processor with fan is already attached to computer case. One of the hardest thing is to decide which videocard would I buy? I'm considering Radeon because, ATI has traditionally had good quality cards and new Radeons should also be good for 3D games. I use my home computer for serious use like Photoshop and also for games. I'm considering to buy Hercules 3D Prophet 9500 Pro 128Mt TV/DV (It's Radeon, but here in Finland and in Europe in general I suppose, they mostly sell only third party video cards not original ATIs). Is Radeon good for CM:BB? There is some problem with fog (fog tables ?) ? in CM:BB with Radeon cards, those cards don't support/show fog in CM:BB am I right? Any experiences? Suggestions?
  17. The Holzgaser (Holz=wood)was also common during war in Finland (unoccupied country). Maybe in civilian cars it was more common than petroleum. Finnish term for Holzgaser is häkäpönttö . häkä=carbon monoxide, coal gas pönttö=bin Häkäpönttö uses pieces of wood as it's fuel. Burning wood pieces make wood gas. Wood gas is used by the car engine thus the name häkäpönttö. I did not find any wartime pictures of häkäpönttö cars from the net, I have seen some pictures about them in Finnish books, but know I don't remember in which books. I found only one modern day Finnish picture from the net. One Finnish man installed häkäpönttö to French Renault (1980) car. He made himself the häkäpönttö (Holzgaser) Here is the picture Here is also article about the car, but sorry it's in Finnish Häkäpönttö car This Renault car is hybrid because it's also uses petroleum (bensa or bensiini in finnish)system and häkäpönttö system. There is to gas pedals in the car one for petroleum another for häkäpönttö. With häkäpönttö Renault's top speed is 70 km/h (43 mph). Car's engine is 1.3 liter. With 2 liter engine car's top speed could be considerably over 100 km/h (62 mph).
  18. I might be wrong, but I think that this one is modelled. It's got a twin machine gun in the bow doesn't it? </font>
  19. Yes! That I meant thanks to everyone that gave me information! So at least these are missing models Missing models list (included in CM:BB but don't have own model yet) BT-42 H-39 Hotchkiss Somua S35 Pz M15/42 738(i) SPW 251/17 Flak HT SPW 251/21 Flak HT 75mm/L46 armed HT 75mm/L46 Armed armoured car T44 and IS3 (poss. IS1 as well) SU-76i SdKfz 6/2 Flak HT SdKfz 10/4 Flak HT Pz I Grille Sturmgeschütz IV Marder series (5 versions share two models) PIV/70(A) Any other model to add to list?
  20. Any list of missing models of CM:BB included vehicles (after v.101 Patch) anywhere? I know that finnish BT-42 assault gun (or maybe more proper term for it is self propelled gun) is still missing, it uses Soviet BT-7 model if I remember right. BT-42 (the only finnish made armoured vehicle of World War 2, actually constructed from Soviet BT-7 chassis and from Swedish Bofors gun, if I remember right), sorry last urls are in japanese ( but still some pictures). Czech Mareska/Artur resin has made 1/72 model of Finnish BT-42. Sandman's & Overlord's small scale afv pages Vaclav's BT-42 Japanese BT-42 model page (looks plastic model) Japanese page about Finnish BT-42 and these two French tanks H-39 Hotchkiss (in Hungarian service and in German service) and Somua S35 (in German service) are missing, those vehicles use same model as another French tank R-35 (in Romanian and in German service. Because Battlefront does not make all missing model for vehicles which are included in the game. That's way, in my opinion BT-42, H-39 Hotchkiss, Somua S35 and other visually remarkable different looking vehicles (especially all Axis minor, because there are not so many Axis minor vehicles, and all so German and Soviet) example Pz M15/42 738(i) (if remember right it was Italian tank in German service with new name) should have own model in next patch V.102. But not German and Soviet variants (like some Pz III,Pz IV variants) which do not differ much visually (Only real grog can tell the difference), those would not have own model. So is there any missing model list of CM:BB included vehicles (after v.101 Patch) anywhere? And what is your opinion of most important should least have new models regarding 1.02 patch?
  21. Heh, Heh, Very funny ! sometimes it's difficult to understand british or english humour
