its driving me crazy.im starting to think i need to avoid bridge maps entirely.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5nS6j0X_n0&feature=youtu.be
this clip is in a current game im playing against Spjut from Bob.
i havent got the heart to post whats happening on the bridges you cant see in this clip.needless to say when a touch of enemy fire is involved, its pandamonium.
i've also got some serious reservations about building entry points in another battle, which i'll post in a relevant thread.
anyone care to comment on this bridging technique?
-
so far personally only noticed this in CMRT,but,as its a command style i use regularly,it shouldnt be too long before the opportunity arises in CMBN 3.10 to see for myself
-
i havent noticed any issues with vehicles, only an infantry squad
-
good, thanks for clearing that up mate
cheers

It shouldn't matter which order is given first; they execute independently. Without a save game, I don't think you're going to find an answer "why?".
As an aside, expecting a 15s firing pause to rout an enemy unit is possibly somewhat optimistic unless you know the target's morale state has already been degraded very significantly.
i woudnt have thought so.
i probably have a save.thought id try and replicate it first
edit,i will try the target briefly aswell, good idea
As an aside.
there wasnt/isnt just a lone squad marching towards the contact.the rest of the company was/is close at hand.15 secs was plenty, they were not in a good position to survive.one got away i think but he cant go far:)
-
yep, thats the way i remember it.
i'll try again in future turns and see if its a reproducable
can we get this moved to CMRT please?
-
ah crap, this needs to be moved to the CMRT section
sorry
-
right, heres one that may need a look at
playing an Assault QB.
advancing with a squad, near the end of the turn they spot an enemy squad in the tree line about 50 yards ahead.
so,
beginning the next plot,i target the enemy and add a pause command for 15 seconds to the previously plotted move forward turn
ie.as they are moving i pause for 15 seconds while targeting the unit in question, expecting to route them and then continue on.
well,to my suprise, they didnt fire until the pause limit expired.then they starting firing and moving.
is this right? i cant remember seeing this before in the other CMs?
i wouldve expected them to fire and then move on?

First rd of the Bagration Cup tourny at BoB,which i am playing in and is still ongoing.
-
i's like to see an overhaul of the TCP hook up to something a bit more user friendly.hasnt changed since CMBO and is quite frankly still annoyingly difficult to use.
many of my friends whom are just casual gamers cant figure out how to host, even with some guidance they eventually call *too hard lets play something else*
-
Seems the DIF site and server are still down, any chance of someone restarting it or whatever is required please?
-
that"s the general idea
so,the obvious questions that will no doubt flood in will be.
what are you shooting at?
is it hull down?
what are you hunting it with?
but as a general tip, assuming you have the firepower to reasonably achieve the desired result.
Ignore it if you can and try to force it to change position by maneuvering elsewhere on the map.
if you must engage it,more assets you can direct to it the better, this includes small arms fire, mortars HMG,etc
using the pause function to time asset arrival is handy, use for
getting the enemy shooting at something else while you move to fire at it with your designated assets.
other than that,we'd need a screenshot or 2 of the position,if you want more indepth advice.

H2H is the only way to fly mate
you'll learn more playing a human in a few games than otherwise imo
plenty of clubs around to join to help you find similar skill players
welcome aboard

well,i tell you, using steam saves me money
with the outrageous price for certain PC games down under, normally half the price in the US.
i find the game i like on steam and my mate gifts me a copy at US prices,i paypal him the dough, and i save 40-50 bucks.
always a way to skin a cat:)

When computer games used to be in stores like Software etc, babbages, and those other ones Battlefront got a lot of exposure from way back in the 1998 era or around that with CMBO. I bought my first one there so I'm pretty sure it got the exposure it needed to survive all those years if it was good and back then it was pretty good. Can't say I like the new model but the graphics are nice. I don't see Steam as a site that will bring it that much more exposure than it already has. Putting the old series of CM on there and some of the older strategy games would be ok I guess. People can see how good those were and then come here and see the rest. Makes more sense for the most money.
you,d be suprised, have a look at the amount of CM groups already on steam.
i get a few PMs asking what game im playing when im using CM through steam.
using the group search function will give you a large list to ponder through.
every time i post a new screen shot on CM i get a few enquiries and of course,i pass on the relevant info.
-
yea its possible, just use the add non steam game function.
all the steam overlays and functions do work with CM,any auto updates or patches wont automatically install because CM isnt officially a steam product
also, the match making system doesnt automatically connect you to player x,this still has to be done the cumbersome manual connection method.
other than that it works well and has a large community of players and groups

Spotting is a strange beast indeed
experience has taught me to stay put(where possible) with said unit until C2 kicks in and the unit in question gets the sound contact marker visable with the unit selected.i only play on elite or iron so i dont know if theres any difference on other skill levels.
i found the unit will spot and engage the target in a more satisfactory manner this way.
happy hunting

18, including RT, CMBN and FI:)

i got a similar system to yours and if 5mins is correct,i'd say there is something wrong there, shouldnt be taking more than 30-60 secs.
i'd suggest installing on another HD to do a comparison, assuming you have tried different drivers for the vid card?
my installs are on C:drive which is a 256G SSD
before i blew up my Asus Board CMBN/FI would load in seconds,i have a Asrock Mobo now, with similar specs to the asus, but, load times are noticebly slower.
what model motherboard?

i was suffering a bit with the folder locations myself
ended up making a *library*(win7) for my in/out folders combining all the CM versions.
makes life easier.but you could just as easily add any sub folder location you access often.
-
exactly the same with some refinements in the area of multiple versions and modules etc
-
theres something else going on with H2HH and CMRT combined with dropbox
files wont completely upload to a dropbox folder, they get to about %90 then hang.
taken a while to figure it out, but,i can conform its something to do with H2HH and CMRT
if i try and use H2HH in the normal way, files will not successfully upload to the specified DB folder.
if i delete the greenasjade folder from the roaming folder competely,i CAN manually move files around to DB no problems.
its worth noting that even with H2HH running or not i cannot move successfully any CMRT files to DB,manually or otherwise.if the Gaj folder in roaming has been created by running the program at least once.
deleting the Gaj folder in roaming and NOT running H2HH again,i can move files.
but once H2hh is run once, its a no go again.
happening with current CM-Helper and previous version of H2hh.
so?
-
in a a nutshell its goes something like this
i plot my moves and hit the button, you plot your moves and hit the button.
the two files merge and you watch the result as a 1 minute action phase file, rinse and repeat til the time limit expires or surrender.
as i said ,watch some youtube clips and you shall see
I hate artillery, I really do...

your not alone mate,im having a very tough game on the same battle.
my arty wasnt too accurate either on this map.
this is an excellent scenario,a very tough task for jerry to secure some ground in this battle.
