Of course not - we buy woollen clothing from the store!! Sheesh!

Okay, maggots, I've got a couple of PBEMs nearing the end,

Where's my feckin' turn then you maggot of maggots???
  2. I played the Kiwis against a human PBEM player & got caned - the flag was neutral at hte end, but I'd pursued a cautious attack, sending 1 platoon around the rear of hte Village to the left, and 2 platoons to the right.

My tanks both got KO'ed by the mortars - although 1 did use up all its ammo first!!

In all I think I only inflicted 24 casualties on the germans & lost 60-odd myself - a historical charge up hte guts wouldn't have done worse!!

The 95mm how. did because the short barrel needs extra weight to balance the breech mechanism.

The 6pdr was fairly well balanced, by comparison

Were the tank-mounted 6-pdr shorter than the original AT gun?

The later AT guns were a couple of calibres longer than the early ones (L45 vs L42.8).

    Details as they become available.

    Great stuff.

I had a similar story this Christmas.

One of my mother's uncles was killed on an Italian POW ship that was torpedoed in hte Mediterranean.

Mum had found a book by a survivor of that attack, with a chapter dedicated to Uncle Don, who had been his best mate for a while, and who he was sitting right next to when the torpedoe struck - Uncle Don was killed instantly, the other chap wasn't even scratched & this book was the first hand account of how the 2 were captured and how Uncle Don was killed.

    war is hell!

Very hoary - in the British tradition Warrant officers are "mister", and no self-respecting NCO would stoop so low as to require anyone to call him "sir" - NCO's work for a living after all!!

Warrant Officers hold warrants from a minister of het Govt (Secretary of Defence in the US, Minister of Defence in hte Commonwealth), whereas Commissioned officers hold their commission from the head of state (Crown, President, etc.) - hence the difference in authority they wield.

I remember a very senior WO1 RSM completley politely and deferentially obeying a particularly pointless order from a Lieutenant (shutting down the "wet" canteen on the last night of camp IIRC) - then having a word in the Bn CO's ear, and the Lt being hauled over the coals and posted somewhere unpleasant - there is no doubt that a 2nd Lt straight out of his officers course outranks a warrant officer - but choosing to exercise that rank would normally be a career limiting move!!
