  1. Hia Guys, A Big thanks to Scott and all who helped put the article together. Cheers mate and cheers to all in the CM community!! Sulla
  2. Erm, I have heard that that boxart was not very popular. Its strange as CDV are usually a top notch publisher. They have certainly done a good job on the PR side in the UK. But, having said that, this particular box art is not of the best... Glad you guys like the review Sulla
  3. Hia Guys, MGO has just posted a full review of CMBB. Its won the editors choice award and scored 9.5. (deservedly so ) You can find the full review here: Combat Mission II - Barbarossa To Berlin By Tim Catherall Hope that you enjoy the review and well done to all at BTS and all who worked to bring us this bloody good game!!! 4. Hia Carl, Is there any chnace that I could post this on the MGO website? Do you have any screenhots for the AAR? As a major fan of SC, I would love to publish some AAR's from SC on the MGO website. Has anyone else published any or posted any here? Cheers Sulla
  5. Hia Guys, MGO is glad to be able to host such a great quality website as Toms. I was checking it out tonight. Its a really well done site mate <Tips Hat> Easy to nav and easy to use. We should see a lot more CM stuff appearing on MGO in the future, if any of you have any ideas for additions or things you would like to see, drop me a line or post here. Tom, I have added you to the hosted sites section, I will aslo announce it in the news section in the morning, when I get email from you mate. Sulla
  6. Hia Guys, Just thought I would let you know that two CM sites will soon be taking up residence at MGO. MGO will very soon be hosting two of the best Combat Mission sites around, to add to our already great line up of Combat Mission sites. Toms Combat Mission HQ and The Combat Mission Times will both be added to the MGO sites very shortly. Both sites are currently in the process of moving to MGO and should be up and running very soon. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome them to the MGO gaming community. You can read the news announcement and screens here: Two Great Combat Mission Sites Heading For MGO Cheers Sulla
  7. Hia Guys, MGO has just published one of the brand new AAR's from The_Capt. The scenario itself is named High Cost Real Estate, by Wild Bill Wilder and you can find it on the Boots & Tracks website on MGO. High Cost of Real Estate - Combat Mission - After Action Report (AAR) We hope that you enjoy it and there are many more to come. Many thanks to Wild Bill and Scott. Sulla
  8. Hia Guys, Not butting in here (at least I hope not) MGO offers free hosting for many sites, if any CM site ever needs hosting just drop me a line. Its all banner and ad free space with basically unlimted space/BW. Just a word of caution about hosts, a lot of hosts say no bandwidth limit, what they actually mean (I know this from bitter first hand experence) is that its unlimited until you have : 1) Too many users and it impinges on their shared hosting enviroment. 2) Its unlimited, BUT, allows you no downloads (ie: zips, mp3 files etc) If you do go the route of getting a new host for your sites (any of you) always read the small print on their conditions of use pages etc and always try and find another person who has used the host and can recomend them) It can save a lot of heartache believe me. If any of you want to get a host or need a host really badly and need to check some out try these forums: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ You will find that every host there will offer you the best deals possible and all have sites they can show etc and good client lists. BUT, having said all that MGO still offers free hosting to all CM sites Sulla
  9. Hia mate, Thats actually the first of many that will be going up on MGO. Thye make for such good reading and really get you inside a game. Sulla
  10. Hia Guys, Military Game Online is starting a whole sries of Combat Mission beyond Overlord and Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin (upon release) AAR's. These will be by many different authors and many different scenarios, some you may have seen before, but most will be brand new. We hope that you enjoy them and of course is you have a great AAR, send it in and we will post it. You Can Read The First AAR Here:Combat Mission - AAR - Sounds in the Night - Greg Redeker The next to go up will be: Rumblings Of War AAR's and many others. Sulla
  11. Hia Guys, Glad to see you taking part in the poll. I knew word would get back to the CM VolkSturm @Lou2000 I spoke to somone at UbiSoft last week and Harpoon4 is still very much alive and kicking and should be released before the end of the year. Sulla
  12. Hia Guys, This is an amazing game and takes me back to other (much older games) but hubert has brought a WW2 Strategic game to us, practically single handed. (development wise) makes you think of the many games out there with huge budgets that are truly awful !! Also Battlefront deserve a big thank you for picking titles like Strat Com up and bringing the finished games to us! Sulla
  13. LOL, Man thats a weird one  However hard you try there's always one that sneaks past lol Cheers Shaun
  14. Hia Guys, Just wanted to let you know that MGO has just posted a review of Strategic Command and it gets a well deserved 9/10. Well done Hubert You can find the review here: Strategic Command: European Theater - Reviewed By Jim Cobb EDIT: You really should have a govt health warning about addictive things on the box guys !! 15. Hia Guys, In a way following on from the AAR request. I am looking for somone to help out on the MGO site, adding in news of CM SMBB and CM mods. This will be a regular feature of MGO and I feel it would be good for both CM and MGO. It will involve posting articles on MGO regarding any CM related news, tourneys, mods etc. Also helping with the preview and review of CMBB as and when. As MGO already hosts 3 CM sites, i think we need a regular news feed into the main site on all the CM news. If anyone is interested in helping , please email me or posts here. shaunw@militarygameronline.com Cheers Shaun
  16. Hia Guys, MGO has been running a series of AAR's for various games and I would very much like to post some quality ongoing or one off AAR's for CM on MGO. AAR's are a great way of spreading the word about CM and also spreading the word about tactics mods etc. I would very much like to get some CM AAR's as a regular part of MGO. If any of you are interested or know of some AAR's that would fit the bill, drop me a line at shaunw@militarygameronline.com Regards Shaun
  17. Hia Guys, MGO is running a monthly picture caption contest. Just come up with the funniest or most original caption to win. The prize this month is a copy of Airborne Assault, kindly provided by BattleFront. You can find the contest here: MGO Photo Caption Contest EDIT: Wrong forum and game to start with man .. sorry guys lol.. Cheers Shaun wallace [ May 29, 2002, 09:09 AM: Message edited by: CSO_Sulla ]
  18. Hey Guys, I actually get to play quite a few different games as you can imagine. You can I am sure imagine how some games are, however THIS game is one of those games that from wthe moment you start playing you lose a couple of hours. I played it again last night and got so into it I lost another large chunk of time. The game is addictive from the word go and has so many nuances, I am looking forward to the final version now Well done Hubert! Shaun Editor MGO
  19. Hia Guys, We have just posted an intervire with Hubert on MGO. Thought I would post here and let you know. You can access the interview here: MGO Interview With Hubert Cater Cheers Shaun [ May 23, 2002, 12:44 PM: Message edited by: CSO_Sulla ]
  20. Hia Guys, MGO has just posted an exclusive developers diary for Combat Mission Barbarossa to Berlin. It gives a great insight into the making of various aspects of the latest CM. You can find the article here: Developers Diary For Combat Mission Barbarossa to Berlin MGO will also shortly be bringing you a detailed preview of Airborne Assault -Red Devils Over Arnhem. We will be doing as much as we can to promote BattleFront and all of its games. Hope that you all enjoy the diary. If any of you have a CM Mod site that needs hosting or have a fan site MGO are very happy to host any quality mod sites. We have just added a new (for MGO) mod site The CM Depot to MGO's hosted sites. Also if any of you have a mod site or fan site and could provide a link either text or banner to MGO we would really appreciate it Regards Shaun Wallace
  21. Hi Guys, Well the first CM website has found a new home and is up and running. http://www.strategy-bunker.com/CombatMission/Alla_Keefek/ Cheers Sulla
  22. Hi Ellros, Bandwidth was one of the reasons as well as having a cenreal point for all mod and map downloads, that I set up closecombat.org. A lot of the mods are large ie WF is around 35mgs, and if you have a lot of people downloading large mods and maps (maps average 6 - 7mgs) it eats up bandwidth. A lot of maps etc were hosted on the old Xoom and geocities sites, these were sometime hard to download from and the download speed was awful. ON CC.Org we host over 300 maps and hundreds of other mods/files. The bandwidth is very good and the new server has great bandwidth. This is one of the reaons behind the new site, to offer the same facility to other war games. A good reliable host thats not favouring any games company or that has banners everywhere. Just a site for war games by war gamers. This site is open to everyone who needs a site for a wargame for mods etc. From CM to Silent Hunter. BTW: Has anyone seen the new reviews of the beta testing of S HunterII and Destroyer Command, these two games on multiplayer look to be awesome. Check out this URL: http://www.sh2fleet.com/subsim1/destroy_sh2.html Cheers Sulla http://www.strategy-bunker.com/ http://www.closecombat.org/
  23. Hia Guys, I set up about a year ago a Close Combat mod and maps site. (also the home of a 260 srong CC gaming group) This was to make available all the mods & maps for CC in one place. Alos to give the mod and map makers a place to have the file hosted. The site has proved hugely popular and is now up to around 100,000 views a month. I am now trying to do the same for CM and all Military Strat games. I have set up a new domain and site. This includes 1000mgs of server space. I am aiming to have a one stop site for strategy games and mods. From CC to Silent Hunter. This will take me some time LOL. But the site is already up and running. (somewhat bare) Any ideas you guys may have are very welcome, what makes a good strat games site? I know there are some out there, but the ones I have seen seem to have lost their focus and seem very commercial. This site and all webspace will be banner free and you can build your sites or move them to the new domain as you want. This is open to any of you who want webspace for a site, that is banner free and reliable. I can add a froum for each site if needed. The server is fast and the only requirement is a knowledge of ftp etc as I am not setting up a geocites page builder. If any of would like a site hosted email me: sulla@closeombat.org I have also added a GI Combat section to CSO, which has the new FAQ on units and weapons. Eric has also posted that he is looking for some serious input both on the game itself and on the best way of making the game modable ie: what aspects etc. Check out the CSO GI Combat site for details: http://www.closecombat.org/GICombat.htm and the GI Combat forum. http://www.gicombat.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi? I have created a GIC webring for anyone interested in adding it to their site. The URL for the new site so (far up) is: http://www.strategy-bunker.com/ Cheers CSO_Sulla Straegy Bunker Military Games Site
  24. Hi guys, A lot of the posters here will recognise me from CC HQ and SSI forums, if you are not one of these hi I have run closecombat.org website for some time. Its basically a clan site and a map and mod download site. I will shortly be adding CM mods to the downloads. (www.closecombat.org) Together with this I have just set up a new strategy directory. I am hoping that a lot of web grognards both CM - CC - and others will use this as a resource. Basically its a directory (as in Yahoo etc) but just for strategy and military links/sites. I have already set up quite a few categories and sub sections. I have set this up as a one stop resource for all strategy and military sites. So that instead of trawling the nets hundreds of engines, you can just use this one. Here's the site link: http://www.closecombat.org/cgi-bin/stratref All ideas and comments are welcome. If you have ideas for categories or you have sites you know would go well in a particlular category just click the add a link. Its taken a fair bit of work to get this all working, but it will only really work (as in be useful) if its used and has people adding sites etc. If you know of a great strat site add it in guys Hope that you think it may be useful. All comments welcome. Sulla ------------------ sulla@closecombat.org www.closecombat.org
