  1. 0% exposure is because troops are positioned behind a wall, and have taken fire and are taking cover. The "wall" in CM is something like 4 ft. high so they are fully protected. I don't think that vehicles get 0% *exposure*, it's just that some units (for example bazookas) might be at the limit of their range (~200 for bazooka/PIAT or 220m for panzerschrecks) so you might have 1 or 0% chance "to hit".

Yes, that is true of mortars (on-map) especially if they are firing indirectly because their HQ unit is spotting for them.

All Artillery spotters (incl. mortar spotters) will show up as "Crew?" as far as I know.

  3. CMBB won't necessarily save your from tank crews gone mad. I was just gloriously taking a StuG IIIB on a flanking mission right into the thick of the enemy infantry, hoping I could rout the Soviets w/ the StuG's cannister shells. After being shocked (heh) the StuG then ignored my orders the next turn and went charging AHEAD even further forward, well away from my other troops, and it was ultimately killed by a squad's molotov (I think).

As for the Cromwell VIII, it doesn't surprise me that it won't fire the C ammo as often as you'd like. They don't use them unless they've already bracketed in an armored target w/ a few HE shells... I guess those are just hitting for you. Smart crew... they don't want to leave themselves defenseless by wasting C on low% shots.

  4. I'm sure my CMBO .bmp folder is well over 1 Gigabyte. Never went back & zipped anything, it's all extracted and full-sized (heh heh). I wouldn't think it would really affect performance, since the game is always looking for the same .bmp #'s regardless of CMMOS, folder size, etc.

  5. Even in CMBO, in the MIDDLE of a turn, if you exposed a tank, all enemy tanks tend to stop what they are doing, and race over to get LOS. So that was a big advantage for the AI, b/c your tanks of course can't do that without orders. If you're only moving 20-30m away on a shoot/scoot, you may still be in LOS of where the TacAI controlled AI tanks have moved from when they 1st sighted you.

So, 7 appears in folklore and popular superstition throughout the christian world, though not always with outspoken connection to the origin in religion.

7 is big in the Mayan's Tzolkin calendar/diagram of galactic energy. They have 13 "baktuns" of approx. 394 years in length, and the middle or 7th baktun is the most sacred, it covers ~748 to 354 BC, when the Buddha lived amongst other stuff (I can't recall the other significant events).

    Some reasons?

    No arty Shockwaves.

    /SNIP/

The lack of shockwaves certainly accounts for alot of the missing "fun" IMHO.

    Please no pointless flaming.

No shockwaves...? I'm 99% sure that there's a mod to fix that. I hope that's not the bulk of the reason for why you don't play CMBB. Overly panicky troops can be dealt w/ either by using a LOT more suppression than in CMBO, using higher quality troops in QBs, keeping them in command at all times (a must whilst under HMG fire in exposed terrain), etc. Hope this helps...

    No fun in CMBB?

    Try this:

lower the Fog of War from Extreme to Full. Should make spotting much easier. Alternatively, make sure you don't play in reduced visibility conditions like dawn/dusk, overcast, fog, rain, etc.

Play with Veteran troops, Regular at the minimum. Should reduce the irritating crawl thru MG fire (heh). However you'll still experience the "improved" MG-area fire/suppression from infantry and tank MGs.

Give the attacker a 10% bonus in troops.

Do you think these will help you? They should help to make CMBB more "arcade" like... much like the easier gameplay of CMBO, but with all the improvements still intact.

    that is a GOOD point

not having enough fun in CMBB?

Try fightling with ALL Crack or Elite units if that is your idea of fun.

and YES your fun might actually increase (if fun means winning without working hard for it) if you play at only FULL FOW and not Extreme EFOW.

those two factors right there are like turning on the CMBO fun switch I would guess.

Great Suggestion Silvio, but please don't mess with the REALISM of CMBB because it should be more like CMBO, IT should NOT be more like CMBO at ALL!

Read my sigature line below if there is any doubt as to where Steve G of BFC stands on the issue

  10. It's too late, but i was going to say that if you could have your PzIII and StuG fire from HEIGHT, it will negate some of the sloped armor advantage of the T-34... the higher in relation to that sloped armor the better.

Alternatively, you could possibly have tried to get the T-34 to "dance" if terrain allows... have your 2 tanks move in and out of LOS, causing the T-34 to pivot turret, and break lock... probably not possible over steppes.

T-34 w/ cannister is NASTY!!! My opponent in a PBEM has been hurting me badly w/ T-34's at point blank (about all he can effectively do b/c I have many Stuka's buttoning him), other T-34's are suppressing me and his PPsH-toting squads then mop up the pinned Krauts.
