  1. Some good points about rallying to quick. But i have seen routed units leave the map if still under pressure from the enemy.

I would have to disagree about routed units dropping there weapons and fleeing. From most accounts I have read men who even suffered from severe battle fatigue would not give up there weapons. Of course I mean rifles and such not crew served weapons. Many men who routed in one battle or even the same battle would go on to recover and give good accounts of themselves.

One way I like to keep units from rallying is to drop arty on them. Any fire on a routed or broken unit will continue and worsen the situation for them.

Very few men Routed totally out of the army that would be dissertion. From what I have read men who routed we're not austicized by other troops. Maybe because they could understand the pressure those men were under.

  2. A friend of mine

and fellow wargamer works at TACOM (he is working on an armored recon vehicle with the British) Detroit and showed the game to the armor survival guys. They are now using it to learn armor tacics and angles ETC..

So maybe BTS could get the big Government contract and really rake in the big bucks.

Nah. Then they would forget out us little guys smile.gif

Man you guys crack me up. You see a simple word like church and you go off the deep end. When i say church I also mean synagogue, mosque,Temple, ... I do believe that the teaching of right and wrong by the various religions makes a big difference in society. The hedonistic teachings of modern liberalism and the lack of right and wrong have brought about the madness that we see today. A society when we blame an inanimate object for the lack of resposibility of individuals.

What I am "babbling" about is.I am tired of people blaming everyone but themselves for their problems. Blaming schools and bullies for school shooting when they don't even know what there kids are doing or watching. Blaming people who play "wargames" for violence. Blaming gun owners for the nuts who shoot up schools. Cowards who expect a cop to lay his life on the line for them for $25,000 a year but will not take the resposibility to defend themseves let alone others. Cowards who like, no love the freedom they have in this country but don't respect the sacrifices made by others to give it to them. If thats NOT clear enough I can go on.

  7. "Seven roads to Hell" a screaming eagles account of the battle for Bastone. A quick read but one of the best first person accounts of battle I have read.Happens to have been written by a guy just up the road from me in Michigan. There are at least 10 different battles that could be recreated in CM in it. I am playing one right now. Don't know how those men held out.

  8. Well guys all I have to say about all of this is "I'm tired oF cowards" cowards who are willing to pay some cop $25,000 a year to kill for them but won't do it themselves. Cowards who will let the schools teach their kids right from wrong but won't do it themselves. Cowards who say seperation of church and state but won't take there kids to church. Cowards who will go into a school and shoot up what ever they see but when someone points a gun back at them ****s their pants and puts up their hands to surrender. Cowards who want to blame everyone but themselves when there kids go berserk. Cowards who say gunowners are responsible even when their house is broken into and their guns stolen. I for one am sick of COWARDS. I am a man. I am responsible for what I and my kids do. I will defend myself and my neigbors and anyone who is weak against tyranny. I am an american. How many are ther left?

  10. There are "hunting rifles" sold in 50 cal variations for extreme long range hunting. Ie. over 500yds. The round is very accurate in the right hands. (not mine frown.gif ). I had the same live fire experiance as Abbot with about the same results. eek.gif but actually firing the 50 is just so awsome you have to experiance it for yourself. Just read an account of a paratrooper actually carrying one like a Sub-machine gun and firing it in an assault during Bastone. Now THATS a real man.

  11. In the spirit of You might be a redneck if ...

How about a thread of you might be a CM addict if...

... You haven't seen your CM CD in weeks because you never exit the game anyway just minimize it.

...You have changed your route to work because there are just to many good places for Schreck ambushes

...You can't drive anywhere with out figuring out how you would defend the village you pass through or think what a great place for a pak 88 look at that LOS.

... your dream car is no longer a Mustang cobra convertible but a Kubelwagen.

    Alright guys there's a start lets see'em Y'all biggrin.gif

  12. OOPs my mistake. redface.gif Yes the term sharpshooter comes from the civil war. Morgan's Rifles were concidered marksmen. But I think the relevence is still there. This is the first time that a unit actually practiced to hit an individual instead of using volley fire.

Interesting topic with "Enemy at the gates"

coming out. Who will be the last one on this board to see that one? And who will be the first to pick it apart as inaccurate?

  13. Just a little history for Y'all. The original Sharpshooters were Morgans rifles during the American revelutionary war. Sharpshooters and Snipers have been a part of the U.S. armed forces every since.

I think the sharpshooter units in CM are really used incorrectly. Most of the times I see people(including me smile.gif )using them as scouts or screening forces not as true snipers.

There is a very good artical in the most recent American Rifleman about sniper rifles since WW2.

  14. Interesting post by all! I think this is where different national training and organization comes into play. Each way of organizing a squad has it's advantages and disadvantages. One needs to take these factors into consideration when using different infantry formations just as with armor abilities.Personally I'll take the bigger squad with more fire and staying power, than the smaller ones.

Plus for the Americans there's always the great equalizer of Artillery. A well placed barrage will really reek havoc on the smaller squads of the Germans.
