  1. Ahhhh,Crapgame(my favorite gamming pastime)you have discovered the mystery of life!!!!"Every man deserves his Dew". "TULLAMORE DEW" is the smoothest irish sipping whiskey this side of heaven and even gives "Chivas 12yr old" a bold test!!! I got ahold of this 30 yr ago and they stopped importing it to the USA 20 yr ago,Only way I could get it up till a couple of years ago,was thru a nurse friend of the wife's who went over to the old country every year or so and would bring 2qt.s back for me.Sadly she died 2 years ago and my son finished off my last bottle while the wife and i were away for the weekend last summer(the fur was flying after that).I had a small stash in an original irish crock bottle and it's almost dry when we get invited to a cousins wedding a couple of months ago and low and behold ;I spied on the desert cart a qt. bottle of "The Dew".I ignored the bar for the rest of the day and promised to make a dent in this rare find.Btw I read on the back of the bottle that it was imported by "Hiram Walker" I hope I can get it here again!!

  5. Yes,yaba...I've had plenty of those situations as well, where one of my(or the enemy) vehicles gets lit up and burns. But i'm talking about tank turret decapitating shots where the turret blows skyhigh and lands near or somewhere else on the map.Or totally blownout vehicles or remnants of squads or crews unlucky enough too have a 105 shell score a direct hit on thier position and be vaporized off the map completely?!! ------------------ "Git thar firstest with the mostest" :Nathan Bedford Forrest
  6. well....what was it that took your vehicle out so spectacularly????
  7. Just to up the ante a little;I'm 49 this year and getting younger everyday with this game!
  8. I just read a review of the game on either TNG or wargamer;where the reviewer stated that he was able to string the replays together on his H?D somehow and could review the whole thing!! so obviously so guys out there know how to do this and should pass it along.
  9. yes..I agree..rush them and the will throw they're hands up.or try running your tank close to isolated Mg's or F/O and same result will happen.Nicht schiesen:miene kommaraden!
  10. with all the great sound and ground explosion effects, why don't we have vehicles exploding or a body of a troop vaporizing off the map when a shell gets a direct hit on him or it? Maybe I havn't played enough yet:but I seem to see a pattern of the old tilted /knocked out vehicle.that's okay a majority of the time but once in awhile you'de like to see a tank turret xeplode like a roman candle.
  11. with all the awards these guys are recieving for this game...maybe buy a scrap WWII aircraft carrier, restore it to a working platform and take the company offshore.
  12. I was at wargamer web site and TNG website and they all have CMBO as "GAME of the YEAR" this is a slam dunk for BTS.
  13. I don't know if this is a "Bug" or what? it seems when I load a saved game to continue later the scenery tend to change or disappesr altogeather. I also notice that troops that were on the move to a destination Have thier final destinations and facings altered. As an example: In "Wilitz"(I hope i'm not being specific & this is the right place to post this )I had a couple of zooks planted behind singular pine trees along the road in ambush.Subsequent loadings have either removed the tree leaving the zook looking like he using an open latrine with his arse for all to see!!! or the tree turns to a scragily desiduious(w/o leaves)tree or bush.Upon seeing this I checked my other positions and found other subtle changes and movement plots changed and in wrong positions. Now I've used this strategy before to great effect and am wondering if the puter AI knows this and is trying to shorten the odds???? Is all this stuff to much for the puter to correctly remember or is the puter AI trying to cheat as I've seen in other games over the years?? ------------------ "Git thar firstest with the mostest" :Nathan Bedford Forrest
  14. Hey MOS,so was mine (12alpha)and I love this game(small gain).I guess my approach was the most unconventional of you guys.I tried your approach at first(pulling back vehicles and men).and paid the price(I take great umbrage a losing any men and vehicles;so it better be worth it).I achieved a total victory in 10 turns only losing 3men(only 1 kia).I did this by playing agressive with my engineers(as we were in my day).Remember...your job is to hold the bridge...not fall behind it a let the enemy cross!! I left my snipers where they were, moved the left enrg.sqd.to the small pine at the curve of the road and brought the jeep and the farmhouse H/T to the left as well and stuck them in the tree gaps overlooking the bridge and it's approaches and escapes;just to the left of the engr.sqd. The MG in the farmhouse stays but moves to the 2nd flr front window. The rest of the guys are lined up on the road at setup to give them ahead start to the ambush positions I've selected. The Zook heads for the small pine tree on the right side of road on the curve with 1 sqd. of engr's to his right and just foward alittle in the next best pine tree.the other H/T I rotate to di di bop outta there and to firring lane thru the trees to the right of the 2nd enrg.sqd.The 3rd engr.sqd. goes left of the curve in the road foward the other units on the right in a small patch of gold trees that sees the approach from the fields just foward and some of the road on the right.HQ runs to the foxhole vacated by the engr.sqd at the setup(good communications). The snipers buttoned them up early(setup ambush sites then hide). The zook took out the lynx and 3 other H/T's(it looked like a junk yard)and the engr.'s took care of everything else that tried to get thru.In fact on turn 8 the 2 sqd.'s of engr.'s had his last H/T cornered on either side behind a tree(appx.10-15m).I ordered them to run and target the H/T's(they still had satchel charges left). After 2 turns of close combat and appx.30 grenades they H/T started crawling in reverse towards the edge of map at his start point with my engr.'s running after it.they finally must have got tired and in the last 20 sec.'s they tossed the satchel charges into the H/T and the explosion knocked me off my seat and I began to howl in laughter(although, upon reflection the H/T should have been blown to bits). On the left side all vehichles were taken out near the bridge approach with the exception of one H/T that tried to sneak thru the gully but that zook turned on his heals and took that out as well.his troops that managed to infiltrate the gully were destroyed in detail by the left forces and the arrival of the greyhound.I thought the game over when I spied a german HMG walking out of the woods behind the farmhouse and my secure positions(what's up with that).I had to wheel my MG aroung in the farmhouse and call on the greyhound and H/T from the left to come mop things up nicely.
  15. hey jeff, just ran the training sceneairo with the engineers and the last unit I had to destroy was a german halftrack that i had surrounded on both sides with 2 squads of vet engr.'s w/ satchel charges left.well...after 2 turns of running after this thing while it's heading off the map at a slow crawl in reverse and throwing something like 30 grenades they just got tired and threw the satchel charges in the damn thing and the explosion nearly dropped me from my chair,I laughed my ass off .So I guess you better use good ol' engineers from now on. and BTW the organic bazooka teams work best behind a tall pine tree hanging by the edge of the road.I get 3-5 kills per man, they really turn the road into a junkyard
  16. Ahh yes...I get buck fever too...still after playing these games all these years myself.one little fact about german armour;though maybe you didn't know maybe was that german armor designated in the P-series,like III's & IV's are mainly anti-infantry armor and are best used for breaking through strong infantry positions after they've been softened up by artillery or mortars.or use the Pv's for mopping up after breakthru's and destroy his acillary equipment.
  17. Hey..Clubfoot.Where is this Grafenwhor traing exersise located??I just got the new game..ver1.12 and played the two traing missions listed.one was an assault against A/T guns and the other was an engineer defense against recon forces.that last one the AI tried to cheat by bringing new or lost troops into the game behind my secure positions after I totally whipped it's butt by turn 9 and wouldn't surrender til turn 13 with only three(3) men left???? I havn't played any game scenerois yet,but have never played pbem or tc/ip games yet but want to get my feet wet.I want to practice a couple of more training missions first and served in Grafenwhor traing area durring the '70's and know the terrain well!!1
  18. All .....RIGHT,just received my offical copy of CM today and wanted to know if the CD-Rom has the ver.1.1 patch already included. Can't wait to load this sucker and get crack'in
  19. Okay...okay,try this one. I've been in love with ssi for many years and own all of thier wwll combat games.I've tried others and they never measured up except for ssi;so much so that I had to take a year off cause all the darn clicking made me hands and wrists go numb.I decided to get back into wargamming this xmas and got 4 new (to me)games.Fightig steel(great game compared to GNB),Panzer Gen.3D Assault(game)&scorched earth(demo)Okay games for me being out of the loop for a year, but still all the clicking.and I'm anticipating the New release of SilentHunter II this summer.I also recieved A couple of Talonsofts games which I usually stayed away from as they seemed inferior to me.They are 12 O'clock high:bombing the reich!an interesting game but not what I was really looking for as I thought possibly it might be like silent hunter as I'd be in a B-17 orB-24 or such choices and while I was on my way to a bomb target misson I'd be able to also do pilot and gunner positions and shoot some Me-109 or FW-190's out of the sky(how about battlefront.com doing that one!!!).Last but the least was TAOW-century of warfare.Way to much clicking and graphics and maps fuzzy.Ihad tried to e-mail norm koger several times with some help in trying to get his old game age of rifles working on my newer computer but the sound and music function wouldn't work(maybe i need old drivers?).This annoyed me as my family who founded the famed "Irish Brigade" was represented as a unit with our generals name "Meagher".Needless to say I'm devastated, got no reply with help at all from mr. Koger and his new game is daunting. Then I read a Review in "NEWSDAY" about this renegade company called Battlefront.com and thier new game you can only buy over the internet, the reviewer gave it rave reviews, but i was a little dubious and figured "what did he know about wargames".I downloaded the gold demo over my cable modem in 2 mins. and "Viola",the best game i ever played was on my computer.I did this on Jan.30th and have been playing CM to the exclusion of all others;and it's just the demo.I couldn't wait to order and now have to wait till 2/26(and where am I on the list).I would just like to finish by saying this game is somewhat similar to SSI's "soldiers at war" than any others i've played and I also downloaded talons little clip on thier new game and I can safely say CM has nothing to worry about.I'm sold Hook,Line&Sinker.BTW will new games shipped on 2/26 be updated and have any new patches included .
  20. I am also for #1 but am going to try #3 so we'll goose the total to 1) 4 2) 0 3)12 4) 3 5) 3
