  1. It's true that (bad) luck affects very small battles more than larger ones, but I still prefer smaller, more manageable battles. I usually play scenarios (QB maps are usually boring), and my favourites are usually company-level fights. (e.g. a company of infantry & AFV platton + support). At this level play is still focused and I don't generally get too sloppy. I do play big battles at times, but I find my play suffers when I have to give orders to a combined arms battallion. I can't be arsed to spilt squads, or set complex tophat-lowsky orders to my tanks etc. I'm maybe just lazy, but I've seen the same happening with my PBEM opponents, too.
  2. Didn't the AVRE also serve as transportation for a team of combat engineers? I recall reading somewhere (culd be ASL Chapter H), that the vehicle carried additional demolition equipment and men. However, this isn't modelled in CM.
  3. OK, so maybe I'm not the grog I used to be, since lately I've been running CM with the sound turned off. Ambient background noise is currently provided by Radiohead's Kid A, selected Aphex Twin and Future Sound of London. When playing at night it's usually Portishead & Protection by Massive Attack (to spare the next door neighbours). I do have to confess that when I was plotting my turn last Saturday (August BankHoliday as the Germans), I lapsed into some vintage Sisters of Mercy and Fields of the Nephilim...
  4. Of course the original land-battleship: T-35 Zakalwe
  5. Not to mention that most of the 41 Soviet AFVs can also be used in scenarios covering the Winter War in 1939-40. (Assuming the Finns are in.) If as has been noted, Finns are included, I can't wait to see the most fearsome AFV of WW2: BT-42. If this puppy is included, I'm a happy camper indeed!
