Well thank goodness, Boo, at least I am not the only one in NE Ohio without the game!Originally posted by Boo Radley:I don't have it yet and since, in a moment that I can only think of as the most stupid one of my life, I asked my wife to get me a copy for Christmas, I won't be playing for three more weeks.

Michael,
I don't normally act as a grog or historian, but one comment on the pictures posted on your site. I think the picture you have listed as overhead communication lines is actually a well. Travelling in Hungary, you see these canitlevers on the plains everywhere. With a weight on one end and a bucket on the other, little effort is necessary to draw up the water.

I believe the size you need is 64X64. Use pixel settings. Double check after you resize. In one or two programs I have used it may give you 64X63 which actually bombs.Originally posted by Rob Murray:I'm getting pretty good at home "CMMOSing". I can churn out quite few converted mods in a day. Problem is I'm having an awful time resizing the icon bmps for the mods ( I can't seem to get the right size ). I've got paint & I sort of know how to use it. What's the best size for an icon bmp ( & should I choose cm or pixels )? Lost here & would appreciate some help.
Thanks.
Been a few weeks since I did it, but I think this is what you want.

So there I was, minding my own business, when into my inbox drops a missive from someone named Boo. "Who is this impudent whelp?", I ask myself. (Speaking quietly, to not attract any unwanted attention) "Yes," I say. "It is that Graphics Designer from just down the road in Rubber Town. No, wait, he was quite upset with me last time I called him that. He prefers to be called a Commerical Photographer. Yes, that's right Boo is that reprobate who takes pictures of tires, or if he is lucky "Boudoir" shots of overweight, middle-aged, trailer dwellers trying desperately to be young again."
He said something about dipping my toes back in the MBT, as one of the Ladies of the Pool requested former "participants" to check in. Baa. Why should I do such a thing.

Interesting thought, however:
1) I believe it was last year that a company in Europe tried to market a mods disk. It was quickly squashed due to copyright and trademark infringement. Most of the modders do it for the love of the game and community.
2) CMMOS mods equal far more than one CD. I think I am up to 2 or 3 full disks.

Astrocat and Jwxspoon, can you try again to load the mods, then email me the CMMOSLog.txt file that resides in the CMMOS root directory. I tried again on my machine and don't seem to have any problem. However, since I did the original conversion to CMMOS, I may have manually updated the files.

email is in my member information

Mike, check under ...GEM Software Productions\CM Mod Option Selector\CMBB\Mods\ and you will see a copy of all loaded mods. These zip files are identical to the files downloaded from CMHQ, so the original copy downloaded can be deleted.Originally posted by MikeT:Jussi, email me at home as well. I will look over things at home. I think I have a solution but need to make sure I am not lying. I think once a file has been installed into CMMOS you can delete it from your original download site. It is not stored in CMMOS itself.

Steve,Originally posted by MrSpkr:To what directory? Can I download them to my desktop, run CMMOS and adopt the rulesets, then delete them from my desktop?
Should I download the rulesets and mods into the main CMMOS directory?
Steve
You can download the mods to any directory. After you "load" the mods into CMMOS you can actually delete the downloaded file, as CMMOS saves a copy of the zip into the ..CMMOS\CMBB\Mods\ folder. As such, the downloaded mod is redundant.

Folks,
As an American who worked in Budapest, and married a Hungarian lady, I would like to point out something. Many Americans do not appreciate History. On the walls of Buda Castle, and on buildings around the city, are scars from bullets, grenades and arty fragments. They come from the WWII battle for Budapest and the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Very few places in the United States reflect history in this way.
Budapest (and Hungary) is a beautiful city full of history. Can anyone living in the United States say they can go to a church that is nearly 1,000 years old? Respect for the past goes beyond having a favorite German uber-tank or knowing the date of a battle.

Kev,Originally posted by kevsharr:I d/l'ed all the ruleset's and thought I had installed them but when I go to cmmos and select b to b I am told that no rule set's have been installed.When I go to cmmos in explorer and click on the cmbb folder it shows the ruleset's.One interesting thing is that the building and misc.rulesets have no bmp's only disc.and text.Cmbo has no problem,when I click on it in explorer it show's the ruleset's just like cmbb but has a lot more bmp's per ruleset.If I remember right cmbo's ruleset's were self-installing because I don't remember having any trouble running cmmos for cmbo.Can anybody help I have'nt downloaded any non-cmmos mods because I don't like the hassle of backing up my bmp folder{limited hd space}
Make sure that you set the pulldown on the initial screen to Barbarossa to Berlin. Hit the configure button. Choose the Rule Set tab (at top of screen). Then use the add button, find the ruleset on your hardrive and hit Open. The new rule set should show up on the tree on the left side of the screen.
Some rule sets do not come with built in rules. The rule files are copied into the ruleset when you load individual mods.

MikeT, you promised not to do this. "I am avoiding vehicles", you said. "I am working on uniforms", you said. I had barely downloaded this mod, and was about to ask you for the appropriate numbering, and I see this!! Now run back to the uniforms!Originally posted by MikeT:MikeyD, I just made a CMMOS version of this mod.
A hint here, if you created the necessary bmps for any other unit that Elepants were assigned to I could easily factor that into CMMOS.
You could even change damage or move damage, change placement or types of external stores, etc.

While I won't speak for MadMatt or MikeT, I can say that conversions to CMMOS are still occuring. A small group of us has continued to support Gordon's utility. The key question now, is where we will end up posting them. www.cmmods.com is an obvious option, but the bandwidth issues discussed above remain. MikeT is working hard to find the mods a home.Originally posted by Rex_Bellator:Then a few other great sites began hosting mods, Matt became fully involved with BFC, Superted had other priorities, and the updates became less frequent over at CMHQ. Now aside from the occasional CMMOS release (and it looks like we've had the last of them) there's barely any point going there at all.

Penetrating hits don't kill as much?

I can say that I have seen this as well. My question is should there be a difference based on the target. I know this sounds strange (and probably impossible due to the game engine), but my example had an Italian tankette taking 5 40mm (A1 Cruiser) penetrations and continue to maneuver and fire. I thought that was strange in a relatively small vehicle like this.
