  1. How can molotows be effective against tanks if a flametrower is useless?
  2. I don't know your particular notebook, but I posted a similar question a week or so back. I'm thinking of getting the newes toshiba notebook, which has a s3 128 chip with 8Mb of ram in it. Madmatt told me that I would only get limited performance and that the chip would definetely be slowing things down. I was also told that I could forget about user mods and such. My problem however is that I havent found a single portable with a better graphics solution. They all seem to have 8Mb of video ram as max. I'm thinking maybe I should wait for the new Geforce2 Go from nVidia. Unfortunately, according to their faq the only company who's already signed up is Toshiba. They will start shipping sometime first half of 2001. These systems will most likely cost an arm and a leg as well! Bernhard
  3. Thanks Matt! I guess I will keep looking for a while! If anyone has a suggestion please post! Bernhard
  4. Ok! Since nobody answered my last post I'll try to pose the question a little differently. I'm getting a laptop for work, and would love to be able to play CM on it while away. The one I'm looking at, a Toshiba 2800-100 has 64Mb of ram, Celeron 650 on 100MHz FSB and sports a s3 savage 4 graphics chip 8Mb. It supports up to AGP 4X but i think the mobo only allows up to 2X. Now I'd like to hear from you knowlegable folks out there about this monster ivenstment. Will I be able to win GOOD LOOKING battles with this thing? What kind of performance will i get in CM! TIA Bernhard
  5. Thank you all for your replys! I will use my thanks a little more cautiously in the future! Bernhard!
  6. Ta mate! That sums it up pretty well I guess, but the main thing I had in mind was wether the angle of my tank relative to the enemy (ie. shots coming in from below) increases the risk of receiving penetrating hits? My guess would be that whith the tank angeled backwards the armor angles would be increased thus making penetration less likely! If this is correct then the best chance of getting a kill would be to hit the lower front of the hull, which should be impossible in a hull down position! Comments? Bernhard
  7. Hello! I was playing Valley of Trouble for the Xth time last (axis) and got my panther knocked before it had firered even a shot My question is this! Is it a distinct advantage to have your tank at a higher elevation then your enemy? I seem to lose too many tanks and they've always been higher. I try to put my tanks in hull down postions when I can, my panther was defientely in a hull down postion behind the ridge, but they still seem to get killed at a way faster rate than my opponents armor. Does this hull down, or behind a ridge expose some of the week armor ie, the soft belly of the tank, or some soft armor in between the turret an the hull in any way? I'm thinking since the hull is leaning back relative to the angle to the enemy! Any thoughts? Bernhard
  8. It seems like no-one ever plays on a laptop! Am I just beeing overly optimistic with this? Bernhard
  9. Excuse my ignorance, but is there a follow up to CM under developement, and if so, when is the release date? Bernhard
  10. Hello folks! I'm off to Nicaragua on a 9 month field trip. For this I will buy a laptop (officially for writing and filing field notes. Problem is that I really love CM and I would like to be able to play it when I'm away. What specs should I be considering? I would also like to know what you guys are using and what kind of performance you are getting? I know the the GeForce2 Go from nVidia will be released sometime the first half of 2001, but that really is of no use to me since I'll be leaving in mid febuary. Besides those "puters" will probably cost an arm and a leg. Regards Bernhard PS: Please bear in mind that I'm a poor student when posting your suggestions!
  11. Thanks mate! I guess I have to try and get some work done in the meantime! Cheers
  12. Hello Folks! I can't wait to get my hands on CM but, since I live in Norway it takes a while to get the game sent over. So in the mean time I would like to play the demo using user made scenarios.... Is this possible? I know it's not supposed to be, but someone must have figuered out how to do it? even if I change the new scenario files to the same names as those in the demo the still won't be recognized by the demo! Thanks for any help! Bernhard
