  1. First. Thanks for a great site and some great mods. I just want you to know that when I scroll up the main frame to acess the mods the black "DeanCo" headline sticks to the main frame and blocks the view. In effect the text sticks like a layer on top of the text in the main window. This happens when you scroll up to have another look at the mods at the top of the page. This is kind of annoying! Anyways now you know. Bernhard ------------------ Visit http://home.c2i.net/bebenum for som tips on(flight)sim immersion hardware [This message has been edited by bebbetufs (edited 03-05-2001).]
  2. Tero! If you're using Internet Explorer you can go to view->text size->and choose a smaller font. It helps a lot. Also try opening the posts in a new window, that removes the frames! Bernhard
  3. I apologize for posting something as off topic as that last thread. I did it out of anger and frustration. Regards Bernhard
  4. Sorry for this, but I need to vent some frustration. On the 26th. of january 2001 a group of neonazis stabbed a 15 year old boy...just because his skin was darker...he died! This shows (again) that nazism has nothing to do with nationality. It is happening today, it is happening here in Norway, it is happening elsewhere, and we need to stop it right now!!! Bernhard
  5. Very very nice of you BTS! Ta a million Madmatt, would be such a bummer if I had to wait for 9 months Bernhard
  6. I'm blown away by this. I ordered my copy a while back, and it still hasn't arrived 17 days later. I got an e-mail from steve stating that it had been shipped the 10th. He also said that if it has not arrived by Monday I should send him a mail and he would ship me a new copy. How can he say this if they are out of stock? I thought that since BTS is such a small company everyone would be up to date on a thing like this? I seriously hope it arrives on Monday, 'cause I'm off to Nicaragua for 9 months and if BTS can't supply games until mid february I will have left before it arrives Bernhard
  7. I was over in Enlgand last autumn and went to Duxford Air Museum. They were shooting some scenes somewhere in the South of england and the planes for the European part were kept there. I spoke to a mechanic who showed me a Messerschmidt 109 (Buchon) that they were using. It had been shipped over from the states, assembeled for a couple of shots, then was to be disassembeled and sent back. Guy told my that he would NEVER fly that thing because of its condition. Reckoned that the pilot had to be a complete nutcase (or just getting a lot of money for the job ) By the way. That 109 was one of the stars in Battle of Britain (the movie). ------------------ Visit http://home.c2i.net/bebenum for som tips on(flight)sim immersion hardware [This message has been edited by bebbetufs (edited 01-26-2001).]
  8. GREAT! 5 min. and I get an answer! Ta a million mate! Bernhard
  9. Sorry for this, but apparently I'm a bit slow. I've read a number of mails refering to pbem in the demo, but I don't se an option for starting a game in mine. I only see a "load e-mail" option. Why is this and how do you set up a pbem game? I need this while I'm waiting for the retail version. (why does it always take so long for my goodies to arrive?) I have done a search but found nothing. I guess it's so easy nobody has bothered posting about it before Bernhard
  10. Thanks to everyone who answered my post. Keep 'em interesting thoughts coming. ------------------ Visit http://home.c2i.net/bebenum for som tips on(flight)sim immersion hardware
  11. Space Thing. You're spot on with that comment! And Babra... I never said anything about not seeing the movie or pushing history under the carpet. I agree that CM encourages research. But it can easily (especially to outsiders) seem like most of this research goes into technical/tactical details and not war itself. Most questions are along the lines of "would x shell penetrate y tank if fired from Z angle on a rainy day?" I'm not trying to degrade these questions, I enjoy reading it as well. Just wondering how you people justify for yourselves ordering a squad to certain death....in the game, and actually LIKING it? Yep, those planes came in handy...... made the death of Hanks seem a bit more arbitrary though..... [This message has been edited by bebbetufs (edited 01-18-2001).]
  12. Just watched this movie. It sendt my head spinning (again) and now I'm wondering how we can justify playing wargames like CM and say things like "get a sniper for scouting, great eyes and CHEAP" I know I know it's just a game but is it still morally sound? As you see I need help to justify to myself that I can keep playing my favourite game! Bernhard
  13. I currently run CM well on my laptop! It has a s3 graphics chip with 8Mb of RAM. The game runs very well even with many mods installed, although it didn't pick the High res. grass... Only thing that doesnt work properly is the translucent smoke ! I agree with Schrullenhaft on the RAM part. My portable has 64, and I will uppgrade it to 128 because IMO thats the lowest you should go when running Win98 or later. 64, or even 32, should do for CM though! The RAM should't be a problem though, 'cause if you use a machine that old it should be using EDO RAM which is readily available, and VERY cheap! You can also tweak the amount of RAM windows uses. By default windows itself will use 1/3 even before you've started working. Windows is notoriously unstable with low RAM, NT is better for low RAM machines. I don't know when it comes to the CPU speed but I would think that with the amount of calculations CM goes through it plays a major part. The graphics shouldn't be a problem either. Picking up an "old" card with around 16Mb RAM is not a costly affair..... I just sold my ASUS V3400 TNT for 350 NOK (Norwegian Kroner ) which is slightly less than 30$. (some people less greedy than me may even give them away) A card like this should be fairly easy to overcklock as well which actually gives you more than adequate (CM) performance for the money. When it comes to sound you can get lucky and have an old SB 16 given to you for free, or pick it up on a web auction for 5-7$. Just my 2... ------------------ Visit http://home.c2i.net/bebenum for som tips on(flight)sim immersion hardware
  14. Yup! I use the M word. I know.... but back then that was the only decent force feedback stick around Flying just aint the same without the force! Gotta love competition though and we all hope that "M" has to adjust because of it don't we? Bernhard
  15. As someone who speaks english as a second language I'd say that (most) of the american accents are quite distinguishable from the canadian ones IMO. It's harder to pick this up in movies though, I guess I just presume them all to be american (especially the bad ones ------------------ Visit http://home.c2i.net/bebenum for som tips on(flight)sim immersion hardware

  17. Just practicing my status building skills and promoting my homepage! Some of you may like to FEEL the battle you play in CM no I'm not kidding....I do! 20. Thanks a million mate! I just found a site in the states that sells them. Saves me 485£ compared to here! And that is with 196Mb of RAM and a case, compared to only 64 here, no carrying case!!!!! Only problem is that the companies have forced the webshops to sign contracts prohibiting them from shipping abroad. In that way they don't ruin their high income markets in places like Norway, where competiton is low. SIGH! Now I need to find someone in the states who can forward it to me.... 21. Sounds interesting! Have you got any links to shops over in the UK? I live in norway and the GST just kills me! 23% Bernhard
  22. Chupa.. is right! I'm currently looking for a laptop and have search the web for one that will display 3D graphics decently..to no avail. The Geforce2 Go will change things but I can't afford to wait, nor would I be able to afford it if I waited :-( Say Chupa.! What kind of performance are you getting anyways? I mean when it's not locking up on you Do you have to turn off any effects? And, most important, can you run any mods? Good luck Bernahrd
  23. Great answer! I was thinking it had something to do with the sloping of the top of the hull, and that the cables seems to be the same thicknes all over instead of beeing thinner further away! Still it's a nice tank though!
  24. Hwy does it look like the left side of the tank (where the wires are) seems to be an extension of the front of the hull and not a part of the side? [This message has been edited by bebbetufs (edited 01-14-2001).]
