OT: Things I've learned from watching "Cross of Iron"

joshik..you have your **** together. love to fight in your unit!!!! -
Hey Titan, we used to use a ruler and dice. think 5 was a hit, 6 was a kill. Soldier could take 2 hits and was killed
-
Hey Tanks, do you have those British Commandos! Afrika Corps was cool!
-
I cant quite remember, but Airfix may have done historical buildings too. I remember a freind who had a model replica of "La Haye Saint" from the battle of Waterloo.
-
Anyone remember collecting Airfix soldiers. They were plastic and came in 1/32 and 1/48 scale. Airfix, covered many wars; American Revolution,Napoleonic Era, American Civil War, WW1 and WW2, Romans vs Britons, Foreign Legion vs Arabs. My brother and I, had well over 1000 of them, from various wars. We spent hours "setting them up", for the grand battle. Best Christmas ever, my bro got German Infantry(1/32), and I got British Commandos. Played with them all Chistmas Day.

Great Post. Thanks for the movie tip wolflord. Pecinpah was ahead of his time with those slow motion action sequences. I think he also directed The Wild Bunch? -

Best Mod for R/G Color Blind?
malthoff replied to Hakko Ichiu's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
There must be some Darwinian edge in being colour blind-10 per cent in males is a lot. Again, i think it gives us the edge in hunting. That figure should drop over time, there are not too many of us that have to hunt for our food. -
Best Mod for R/G Color Blind?
malthoff replied to Hakko Ichiu's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
My understanding is that 10% of the male population is, at least, partially colour blind.(yes i spelt colour with a u, I am Canadian). I am colour blind, and have had problems with anything beyond the primary colours. I remember reading a book, years ago,(cant remember title,or author), that indicated that the RAF, or US Air force used colour blind soldiers on Aerial reconnaissance to identify positions of German Units.I believe that the camouflage netting could not deceive them-(they would see shape, not colour). I ve wondered if colour blind hunters have an edge- can pick out prey more easily than those with perfect colour vision. If so, i m guessing that colour blind hunters have won a lot of hunting competions? Any bird hunters out there that have some comments? -
game favors armor way too much
malthoff replied to Flipper's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I Disagree. Play a few more games. I played a Q B one time. All my armour was liquidated. So I took a V P with my remaining infantry and let the Enemy attack me with armour.(I was in woods), I took out 3 tanks with an infantry charge of 6 squads- "Infantry is the Queen of the Battlefield" -
Thanks for the comments Mike. I m not the religious type. Your just being diplomatic. Thats cool. I m Pagan, but love the song. After Kelly s Heroes, "Cross of Iron" rules.

For all you Kelly's Heroes fans...got till june-july to download this tune for free. "You ve got a good head for tactics Joe"

A computer version of Paydirt would be great;you could play a game within an hour or less. Pick a team, and play a season in a week. What NFL seasons did you have Wesy? -
