  1. A motley crew.

Yes, there's not much consistency between camo approaches. Adding snow (not camo) on a skin is tough!

Magua's Halftracks and Fernando's Chaffee are my favorites. NOTE, I haven't installed the Moleck/Bergman winter mods yet. I intend to do that once I finish this post.

I'll take anybody's allied winter mod over a non-winter skin any day. I can live with the mixed results. In due time, I'm sure more and more winter mods will be added to the mix and you should find enough that meet your tastes.

  2. Max:

By doing this Stug Mod, and my previous Panzer (below), I hope to blend into the sand just long enough to grab one of them Bergman/Molek mods. I can't wait until that Sherman and Stuart have been captured. biggrin.gif

  3. All above this post will get a copy via e-amil. All others, MOJO asked/has permission to post on MO's Combat Mission site. Keep and eye out. Thanks.

Max, pal, appreciate you tweaking the photo to show. I'm just a lazy sob. I don't like waiting for photos to load when I've already seen them once. Thanks. I'll send it your way.

  4. I've tinkered with the original Hotchkiss.

I've used the same camo pattern but recolored the camo to a two tone paint scheme instead of the three tone.

    for a look see:

I also pasted the suspension from a Somua onto the side view. Bit unrealistic as the Somua was a medium tank and the Hotchkiss was a light tank. However, as there is no Somua in the game, this was the next best thing.

    the real thing:

If there's alot of interest, I'll send it off to CMHQ for consideration.

Thanks Tiger. Man, short order mods. Ah, I'll have two Marder's, heavy on the weathering, with a side of SS smocks. Oh, and can I have a winter tree base separate. smile.gif

Hmm, maybe we could set up a "browse" thru mod service while you wait. biggrin.gif

Tiger??? More like Cheetah - Fast as lighting. smile.gif

  6. Here are two interesting webpages I came across that show sandbags, tracks and logs employed for additional vehicle hardening.

This one shows extensive use, by Sherman / Firefly, of spare tracks and to a lesser extent sandbags:

This one shows logs utilized by Finnish Stugs:

I was searching to see if I could find any photos showing the M24 employing sandbags. I had no luck and could find no narrative references. I suspect it was not used on this light tank. Consequently, this mod is probably very unrealistic not to mention ugly:

Until someone mods a really nice Chaffee, I've been using these sandbags to coverup an original texture that has grown old IMO. Perhaps Bergman/Moleck could mod a nice Chaffee to match their Shermans/Stuarts?

  7. I thought I'd resurrect this old post to raise a question. I've seen numerous photos of Shermans, and even some Stuarts, with sandbags. Does anyone know whether Chaffee's employed sangbags?

I've modded this and I'm wondering if it is totally unhistorical:

    http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1437394&a=10778010&p=37350787

Note the effect of the sangbags is too flat for my liking but I needed a change from the original dark paint job. At least until Bergman and Moleck mod us a real nice one. smile.gif

I was also wondering why the Chaffee doesn't have the .50 cal on it. Seems every picture I've come across shows it.

Lastly, does anyone know what year the "short" skirt was added?
