  1. Gentlemen,

I wonder if the US and CW battalions in WWII were serially numbered.

As example, lets take an US Infantry Regiment. Would it always have a 1st & 2nd ... Battalion, or would it be a unique shall we say 527th and 628th Battalion, currently attached to the 40th US Infantry Regiment. If the later is correct, is there a list of existing (and not existing) Battalions for the US and CW forces?

  2. The problem with that approach is that suddenly scenario makers have to pick and choose from all the packs and if you don't happen to have the "sherman firefly" pack (or whatever pack) then you can't play alot of the scenarios.

Keeping the modules down to a minimum removes that problem.

Good point. But it would be nice if they would make at least the maps fully compatible within the CMx2 games, so that they can be loaded in the editor without hex editing

  3. BFC should use the Rockefeller Principle: 'Give away the lamp and sell the oil'. In other words: give away the core game and sell unit/forces/wathever packages.

Funny enough, maps are already 95% compatible within the CMx2 game family, you only need to change a single hex in the scenario file. Just the TO&E get mixed up completly, and a few ground tiles and such causing trouble.

  4. This was my first "not paying for this" post on BFC, but i feel with no scenarios 20 is just too much, but who knows maybe if i find a good video on how to make your own missions maybe i will get it then.. but i dont like quick battles in cm games so this pack would be useless to me sadly

Many people pay more than 40 € for a single tank in 'World of tanks'...

  5. I've tested this. Ditch lock allows to paint elevation lines, but the result is far away from the ditches as they were in CMSF.

I'm aware of the spotting issue, but again - this is not a problem if ditches are part of the landscape, like walls or woods and such - additional to the puchaseable trenches with different spotting rules.

  6. I just compared CMx2 v1 maps (CMSF/CMA) and CMx2 v2/v3 maps today, and I was surprised that I didn't realized before that the CMSF-'trenches' are removed completly.

I'm aware that trenches in the newer CMx2 games can be purchased as fortification, but I really wonder why the old trenches had been removed - they would be perfect ditches as part of the landscape, additional to the fortification trenches.

I would be pleased to see them back in the game.

  7. Something about civilians. Yes, I know that civilians will not be directly simulated in the game, and that's fine. However, I think that civilians victims are an important issue in an modern environment. My idea for abstracting is to let the scenario designer paint zones of population density on the map. The number of civilian victims could be calculated on the basis of the preset population density of a zone and the amount of fire put into it.

  8. Same here. H2H makes up 90% of my CM play, and 75% of that is QBs. The end result is I have *never* finished a CM Campaign, and have probably only played perhaps 1/4 of the scenarios that were included in the games/modules.

I stopped playing H2H because of that...

  9. Yes red, and dark red weapon icons would be best, but it cannot be modded that way. In order to have that BF would have to have a red, and dark red bitmap for each weapon in the game. Although that would look best it just is not practical. This would double the amount of weapon bitmaps that are there, and would make the application even larger in size. The way they have it now is the most practical way to do it for the function it has. I think it is a good addition to the game over all, made even better with the animated text mod :D.

It is no serious programming effort, especially since the work has been done already. It's not such a big difference to let a program show an additional 'casualties' text or a third set of bitmaps. To create a third set of bitmaps - speaking of the simple two colored weapon icons - is no big effort, too, if you have a green and yellow set already. It would not even increase the download significant. A set of weapon icons has much less than 1 MB when packed.

  10. Hello BFC,

I have a small wish for future updates/upgrades.

Applies to all CMx2 games, not just CMBN.

Would it be possible that you replace the files

"silhouette hq blue.bmp", "silhouette hq red.bmp"

"silhouette vehicle hq blue.bmp", "silhouette vehicle hq red.bmp"

    with something nation specific?

I know the vanilla CMx2 uses just simple ugly black silouettes, so it doesnt matter so far.

But it would be a nice support for modding such files.
