  1. 28 year old male, have live-in girlfriend who says "I spend too much time in front of the computer". I told her if she would learn how to play CM that I would get her a diamond ring. Sooo I've since spliced the cable wire into the bedroom so she can watch TV in there while I play CM. No Diamond ring either . She's bothered by the lack of attention. The attention she does get is interupted each time one of my PBEM oppoents returns an email because I immediately detach myself from the mindless conversation she started, do my side of the turn, send back the email, then while she continues to tell me about her boring story I'm contiplating if I made the right moves or not on the turn I just sent back to my opponent. Do we have a problem?? Hey at least we're not getting drunk and beating on them. Get drunk and beat on your opponent instead
  2. In response to those half squads not using their pazerfausts: Did they have LOS to the Sherman?? They need that to fire their faust. How was their morale? They aren't going to do u any good if they're taking cover. Are u sure they had fausts? This would appear in the unit info box. When sneaking or moving up to a tank be sure to target it so they know to use the faust. Last nite my PBEM opponent was bringing up a Tank Destroyer on my left flank, the TD began firing it's machinegun at my platoon in some woods. But the turn before I had one squad (Veteran) Run up to a group of trees almost directly in front of the TD, they got shot at by the TD, but they returned fire from close range, made it button up, then ran a little more and shot it's faust and knocked it out with a front turret penetration. Then they killed the crew as they crawled out. I didn't even tell the squad to target the TD yet because I was just trying to get them into a good reverse slope ambush position for a possible faust attack the next turn. But my opponent moved his TD up close and into range, so they got him from about 30 meters away.
  3. Target the American troops not the building. Then he'll use fire on the whole area including the soldiers inside.
  4. You have all of your units hidden from the enemy, they're all in good formation, moving in bounds with good overwatch from heavy weapons, everything is being done right and then the artillery shells start falling on your army and the casualties start mounting, platoons being disrupted, and you lose an armored car, a tank loses it's big gun and you haven't even gotten close to the enemy yet. Very frustrating when you take the time to plan out your attack and a few artillery strikes wipe out half your assets. Any ideas out there to avoid, defend, or at least minimize the devastating effects of artillery?? My one PBEM opponent seems to buy as much artillery as he can and he places it very accurately on top of my guy's heads.
  5. I'm playing a PBEM now and my opponent is using empty trucks at scouts, their fast, and cheap so he didn't waste many points of them. So I'm sure he doesn't mind losing one here or there. And it's too his advantage to lose a truck while locating my armor. He's using them as recon to sniff out my defense because this a probe. I think it's weak he's using such a gamey tactic and I'm going to tell him about it in the next turn. Then I'm going to squash his attack for bending the rules. TAKE THE SKIRTS OFF ALL U GAMEY TACTIC USERS
  6. Thanks man, just making sure I'm with the times, I've downloaded a lot of the mods too, this is the game I've been looking for my whole life. --------------------------------------------- when you see white planes it's the British, when you see black it's the Americans, when you see no planes at all it's the Luftwaft
  7. I'm using v 1.5 is that the latest version?? If not what is and where can I download it from? Thanks comrads
  8. When purchasing units for the Axis there are five different types of armies to choose from. Are they terrain specific, what r the advantages and disadvantages between the five? The manual says nothing about them. I always use the 1st army there. Am I missing out on the other troops abilities? Are they more expensive? I'm usually the axis in PBEM battles so I'd like to know more about these different forces that are available to me. Please help, thanks!!! Long live Germany...
  9. I play way too much and am totally addicted. I'm losing sleep because I can't stop playing every nite. I have a few PBEM games going plus I like to brush up on my tactics againts the AI so I can hopefully beat a human someday. My live-in girlfriend is pissed, lack of attention and she says I sit in front of the computer way too much. I think, what's the difference if I"m sitting in front of the computer or flopped on the couch watching something stupid and mindless on the TV. At least with CM I"m using my wits. I've always loved wargames, but this is the game I've been looking for my whole life. It's great and you can't get sick of it because each battle is different in terrain, weather, objectives, and units. And even if you made a carbon copy of a battle the happenings and end result will be different because different things happen out there. You may miss/hit a shot that could change everything. I've been late to work every day this week because of CM, hey Big Time Software - u hiring???? CM Anonmous
  10. I would have hid the troops but kept the 75mm Gun unhidden to fire at the halftracks as they came in. If you unhide the troops to early (100M+ distance) the halftracks will butcher them. I think the 75mm Gun would have taken most of them out before they got to close and then MAYBE once the remaining halftracks came close to your hidden troops put a bazooka shot or a panzerfaust through the side of them. Bottom line in halftracks clean up on infantry from a distance.
  11. Where did u guys find the Saving Private Ryan scenerio?? sounds like fun, I'd love to have it. It would be cool to have a scenerio when they stormed the beach on D-Day at the beginning of the movie.
  12. I know that you can still use an arty spotter to target and fire even if he doesn't have a Line of Site on the target. But it takes several minutes (turns) for him to fire. Will he fire more quickly if he has a direct line of site to the target???
  13. I'm about to begin my first PBEM game and I'm curious as to how most human players are compared to the computer generated AI. I know I have a lot of room to improve as a field general, however, I am noticing that I'm not losing scenerios or quick battle against the computer anymore. More times than not I'm pummeling the AI into surrenduring with plenty rounds left in the fight. Does this mean I'm getting good or is the AI just predictable and I'm in for a rude awakening when I take on my first "real" opponent through PBEM???
  14. Capturing troops is benefitial not only for more points but you can get rid of a squad of soldiers much quicker and with less casualities by capturing them instead of shooting it out until the very last man is dead. Have a squad or two (with additional suppression fire from MG or the like) keep their heads down then rush in an assault squad right on the victim's location. They will either engage in hand to hand combat and/or capture them. They'll put their arms up and now their under your command. Just move them out of the way. I've captured almost an entire German squad before who only had casuality. That's 9 German soldiers throwing their guns down. I'm sure that saved me some casualties on my side if I just stayed in the trenches and duked it out. Plus I eliminated the enemy position a turn or two quicker than if I just shot at them. Even then they could have retreated, hid for a while, regrouped, and rejoined the battle only to bug you again. I usually try to capture as many as I can. At the end of my battles half of the enemy is usually captured and it saves me lives. Go in there a fists a flying!!
  15. Jumbo Sherman or regular Sherman they just don't stack up to german tanks. I had a Jumbo Sherman go toe to toe with a Tiger last night, both directly facing each other with that strong frontal armor. They clanked shells off each others front turrets for about 4-5 shots each and then the Tiger knocked out the Jumbo Sherman. Of course the next turn I snuck two Shermans around the small hill the Tiger was behind and attacked him from his rear flank with both tanks at the same time and disposed of him quickly. Don't take those German tanks on from the front, I don't care what kind of US tank you've got. Americans can't make a good car and it shows in our tanks!
