    What is maneuver warfare?

    i took the idea of Hill 302 and made a scenario with some small modifications. the americans have to get past/capture Hill 302 and use Highway 101 to get off the map. i'm still modifying it so be gentle in your reviews.

    be sure to play as the americans first, as i have a few surprises in store for you.

    this is geocities so you may need to right-click and choose "save as..."

    issues that i had trouble solving:

    1. are the americans too powerful?

    2. is the americans goal of exiting going to be too easy to accomplish despite my little surprises?

    3. is the objective flags going to confuse the ai??

    notes:

    if you are german playing germany(hopefully after you played as the americans), make sure not to miss any german forces that may be in odd places.

    be sure to tell me what's wrong and what's right.

    i had a small bit of problem too: did you read the readme.txt file in the "cm v1.05 update" folder? you actually have to take the the .exe file they gave you and copy it in the combat mission folder with the old .exe file. plus, you have to hold shift while doing it(it's in the readme file)...

    played mixed types of shermans, a stuart, and a priest against 2 tigers, a lynx, a hetzer, and some stugs.

    in the first two turns against ai:

    lost a stuart(SPECTACULAR EXPLOSION brew up),

    lost two of three tanks on my right flank leaving only a priest, my diamond formation of four tanks on the left had a tank get its main gun damaged. all in exchange for a stug.

    the left group manueovers around a village to try and outflank the enemy.

    next couple turns, a lynx gets blown away after bouncing a round off one of my sherms. a tiger destroys the gun damamged sherm and one of the other manuevering sherms, leaving two.

    priest is hiding behind a distant house, unable to move out for fear of getting attacked.

    my sherms get into the village. playing peek a boo, my first sherm kills a stug. the other sherm covering him from behind a building manages to nail an approaching tiger in the side. another tiger makes an appearence. my sherm backs off behind another building after his first round explodes uselessly against the turrent armor.

    meanwhile my priest, whom i thought was going to be a helpless victum for the rest of this battle becomes a hidden dagger with which to strike. he moves out and engages a hetzer, which slinks away from the priest's los. this puts him in the sight of my first sherm. the hetzer backs off again, into my priest's los. nail him!

    the remaining tiger unable to advance around the building else providing a perfect shot to the second sherm, moves back to engage the first sherm in long range duel. the tiger backs up and engages the sherm. it misses a lot. my sherm's shots bounce off the side and turrent. as the tiger manuevers, it slides into my priests los. boom...miss. reload, boom...'i hit it!'.

    so i had 2 sherms and a priest remaining against 2 tigers, a stug, and a hetzer and beat them...

    but they are insulting in a balanced manner. i remember another Onion article describing the "desecration" of ss cemeteries: stars of david and messages like 'live, jew' were spray painted on ss graves.

    ok here's the cheat:

    get only the worst, most thin-skinned tanks with no infantry. run them up the middle of the map while buttoned up. then have them area fire an area where no enemies are.

    after that, try and get them to shoot each other. once two tanks are on fire, get the rest and try and drive them off the west edge of the map. the one surviving tank MUST be a lynx or stuart!

    the Stuart will become inhabited by the ghost of some civil war general(i forget which)

    the lynx will become a Nihilist quoting Nietszie.

    both will be able to take out the imps but not the cacodemons so stock up on armor.

    and remember

    will not give you health but instead kill you automatically with the message "aha! cheaters must die!"

    seriously, looks good, but it does look like it's floating... (although the ghost effect is spooky)

    although i do remember my bro in law mentioning he once walked past a store with the name zah's. he said the guy at the register was a big red-haired caucasian guy, but he didn't stop to ask if he was zah... smile.gif

    i uploaded my burghs2.cmb file in zip format to my webpage. it originally had tanks but i got rid of 'em, just for ya wink.gif

    one side has wide open streets, the other has a bunch of small houses, rubble, and buildings crowded together where only grunts can go in(see pic).

    hope u like it. btw, as i mentioned, it has tons of burning buildings, so u may want to turn smoke graphics off...
