  1. When installing, do you overwrite all files of the same version? Also, did anyone notice slowdown while utilizing these mods? I did (though only on the large maps), and I have a PIII 450MHz. ATI 128 Rage card... Kinda disappointing...

  2. By texture size, he relates to pixels per area. The more detail, the more RAM you use. The more RAM the slower the framerates due to the CPU taking into consideration the more detailed texture sets and there location at any given moment...

  3. <font color=red>"Anytime you add new movement lines to an existing movement order the vehicle will pause at the completion of the old orders before resuming the new ones. This pause will not show up if you had added the new lines while the vehicle still had old lines to complete."</font>

So how do I avoid this complication? Do I actually map out the whole course of the vehicle? Or can I alter the speed, by clicking on the movement icon and then modifying the movement, and thus avoiding this delay?

And when and how do I find out about the new news about CM? When is the follow command due? In a patch, a new version of the game? Thanks again...

  4. Thanks, I tried to do that, but like you said, sometimes you don't have that luxury of placing your vehicles.

    <font size=5 color=red>SPOILER ALERT!</font>

(Another big tactic for that bridge is a little hill on the road below the bridge which is perfect for tank overwatching [while hull down]).

    <font size=5 color=red>ALERT ENDS!</font>

BTW I sometimes don't see that my units are paused, but when it comes to the action phase- they pause for up to 30 seconds, why!? Also, if I want a vehicle to go from point A to B- how can I assure that the vehicle will do that without engaging in a gunfight, and thus pausing to engage the enemy- this as well has happened on occassion! Thanks again in advance...

  5. How can you move armoured columns in a way so that they aren't constantly smashing into each other! I find this extremely frustrating at times, and realistically I have FUBAR'ed the current map I'm playing (I forget the name of the map, but it's the one that is 75 turns, and you have to storm a town after crossing a bridge, while trying to take a railroad station)! Great map- but I believe I've taken way too big of a bite for me to chew. My first attempt at crossing the bridge left most of my vehicles in smoking ruins on the bridge, making it exceptionally difficult to cross (D'oh!).

Anyways, that is not the point- I need to know how to move the armoured units properly, and as efficiently as possible. Thanks in advance...

  6. When is CM2 due BTW? I was just wondering because this game smacks of the tabletop wargame Warhammer 40K- almost right down to vehicular movement and hiding (that's why I mentioned the Sci-Fi). It would easily lend itself to such a scenario! Besides, not everyone is fond of a WW2 setting, but you can't please everyone!

And Iraq would offer various new tactical approaches... you have no cover except for sand dunes, your units could get exhausted more quickly, and gas attacks would be welcomed! A feature that could be implemented in CM2 could be the ability to play various landscapes in quick combat mode, such as deserts, jungles, urban jungles, and tundra just to name a few suggestions!

  7. This game rocks, never before have I spent so much time on a game and not realized that the sun was coming up. However, I wish that the manual came with a listing of all the Unit, Vehicle and Weapon profiles. It would be handy to know exactly what units you have without having to query each one in advance of the game in the setup phase (not to mention any enemies that you may encounter). Any suggestions and/ or websites that have these listed? Thanks in advance...

  8. I was just wondering, what is the probability of getting my hands on a Sci-Fi/ Fantasy mod, or a Vietnam/ Modern war mod utilizing the CM engine? Are any in the works? Also, what are some of the better sites to D/L skins and such from? Thanks in advance...

  9. I just got CMBO, and after installing the patch (1.05), I had difficulties getting the scenarios to work (or had trouble getting the program to locate them to be exact). I have the game running smoothly now (I hope), and I was wondering if somebody could tell me how many battles and Operations are included with the main game? Right now I counted roughly 43 battles and no Operations... is this correct? Thanks in advance...

  10. I think I must have unloaded the patch, to the wrong folder (i extracted it to the cmbo folder, and then dragged the new CM Icon onto my desktop), or set up the patch in a wrong way. Regardless, I have no access to the scenarios- all I have is Quick Battle options... somebody give me a hand, would you? Thanks in advance...

  11. Thanks alot Pham 911, I'm begining to see the meaning behind the term "gamey". Well, as I read in another post along the same topic lines, my philosophy matches with the originator of that post: it's only a game, so it's entirely up to the player as of what to do. Good example with the jeeps! BTW, there's no way around that? If your troops are hidden, why would they attack, or are you assuming that the troops aren't hidden, and are therefore taking opportunity shots at the offend jeeps? (you'll have to excuse my ignorance... I just can't wait to find out about this game, so some of the questions I may ask, you'll have to bear with me...)? If that's the case- hey!, all the more power to the person who takes the time to hide all his units in an effort to foil that "tactic"...

  12. Sorry, it was the lack of respect that I found insulting. My name is not Fine and Dandy... wink.gif But I have a couple of suggestions. If you can't post, why have a forum? And I'm not asking people to post here, just the ones that want to contribute to the conversation. A "USE THE SEARCH FEATURE", or "OH MAN THIS TOPIC AGAIN? YOU STUPID F***!" are not welcomed posting for most people... anyways...

  13. LOL Thanks for the advice in my sig. How do you know I didn't want it that way? wink.gif

But seriously, am I correct in assuming that to be "gamey" is to say that this game is buggy? The example you described doesn't really happen does it?

  14. Well that is fine and dandy if you have the manual, but since I was waiting for my copy to come in the mail, well you can see my predicament...

  15. Being new to the community, I have a question? Why are different tactics and playing styles considered "gamey"? Doesn't meat taste "gamey"? I need to know, please. LOL
