  1. Just installed a new stick of RAM, and my CMAK now crashes, without fail. I get a lockup with a cyclical sound loop. Only a hard reboot will get me out of it. The RAM is fine (tested twice with Memtest x86), in fact all my other games are benefiting from it greatly. Except for this game...I thought that someone here had the exact same problem, but the guy responded in broken english saying that he found the solution! Figures. The game ran fine before the upgrade. Taking it out is not an option- X2 is now running perfectly, so it's staying right where it is. So, again, any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hmm, the AI exibited the exact same problem with me...under heavy fire my units tended to try to sneak towards the firefight every turn...

In the interests of fairness I'd like to gently point out that while you'll see my name in almost all of the threads about CM:BB being hard to like, you will never see it attached to rude or overly combative posts. No one is demanding you like the game, or even play it. There have been a handful of threads just in the past week where some of us have discussed what we don't like about the game, and even some things that might indeed be "broken". Steve G himself (who does a little more than work in Photoshop, sir) has even commented in several of them to help us understand his vision of the game. None of these threads were censored, deleted, or in any other way compromised. They are all alive and well and ready for mature discourse.

But you began this thread with a distinct lack of tact, and that is what is incensing those of us who are incensed and bothering to comment. I'm actually a little embarrassed and wondering now if any of my complaint posts read even slightly as rude as yours do.

So to sum up, learn some tact, learn a little about WWII, and/or learn a little about your OS (if it didn't write anything to the Registry then there's nothing that can't be deleted via Explorer or a DOS prompt).

    laxx-

You have truly proved that pictures are worth a thousand words. Excellent!

    Hurricane-

If you really want Nazis on the Moon read Rocket Ship Galileo by R.A. Heinlein - a fun little tale from the Golden Age of Science Fiction.

Okay- well, I'm a bit combative. And... your point is? I'm not hiding behind a computer screen as Kwazy likes to think. I am actually like this in real life too- YOINKS! I speak what I think, and I won't butter things up. To do so is deceptive, and it's what I hate most about society in general. Tact I will use when I'm talking to someone in person while I'm at work, not when I am on a board I visit infrequently and I am disappointed with something. I am still initally responding to the amount of flames I have recieved from my initial post (again, which I take light-heartedly).

If everyone would take a step back and read what I have posted- you'd see that I'm not as combative as you suggest. Okay- so what if my first post was forceful? It wasn't directed at anyone personally. It's the majority of fanboys that wanted to stir things up. Read the next post after mine- it sets the tone. This is my last post concerning this topic (I will zip it up as Steve suggested)- since I think there may be others added- but I want you at least to know where I stand.

Thanks Steve- I think, for giving me the opportunity to post the pics I may have concerning Selection Box and Unit Base no-shows. It'll only help you make a better product in the long run.

Exactly- then this board would be a flamin'. People like you would be laughed off the boards for supporting bugs like this... I support small developers as much as I can. Shifting Suns (Devils Whiskey); Paradox Games (Europa Universalis); Malfador Machinations (Space Empires IV Gold); and BTS (CMBO), so I am familiar with your fan base fanaticism- your derogitory post doesn't surprise, nor offend me in any way.
  6. "However, if I see another thread like this started up by you again (this being two for two so far) I might just ban you anyhow. We have rules in this Forum about Trolling and contributing nothing productive. Now I admit, we are all getting a good laugh at your pitiful and shameless behavior, but there is a fine line which you would be wise to not tread. I might never delete threads, but I do ban trolls."

Well, do what you will. If you think that by me having an opinion is trolling- then so be it. I can't be held responible for your last "five years worth of work". You seem to take this too much to heart. It's a forum board, and by banning my critique you are in fact banning problems with your game. I'm seriously responding to posts, and I'm getting flamed for it. So what? I will defend myself.

I've posted about 10 posts in this thread, and if you take the time to look back and read them, you'd see that in fact I'm NOT the troll you make me out to be. You take my sentences out of context and then you threaten to ban me... Sorry if what I said offends you so much- it did the first time, so I don't expect miracles this time.

Besides, the only thing I see in the credits with your name on it is Quality Assurance, Design, and Artist. Damn, I can use Photoshop as well. Quality Assurance? I don't think you're doing your job that well, if you want me to be blunt. I'm not that satisfied, and you don't want to facilitate others to my critiques and concerns- you want to simply ban me so I go away.

I'm NOT cutting you up for your last five years worth of time and effort- in fact your company has done a fine job with CMBO- but if you can't accept some criticism, then do what you will! I take it I am now banned- so have your final shot, and have a good one.

If you give me the chance to post my screens of the errors I've been having, then fine, but I assume you don't want my input regardless- even though I wasn't directing it at you to begin with. If I wanted to bitch at you regarding your game, and how you've been wasting your life- I would have sent you an email. I didn't, nor was it my intention for you to get involved- but it was welcomed none-the-less, it spruced up a rather dull monday night.

I'll post this in my review section under Concerns on my page for reference though.

Frankly, since I regard you as both a liar, and a fool, I find these claims so much loud-mouthed posturing.

Child, you've had to admit that most of your claims are wrong. The only thing that stands would be complaints about the 'index' in the manual (nothing to do with 'beta-testing'), and the 'uninstall' feature you so desperately need. Again, nothing to do with game play. Did CMBO, that you're such an expert on, have an 'uninstall' feature? This is, after all, one of your 'supporting points' about the 'need for a patch'.

Again, I think you're a liar. I also think you're only point in posting is to cause trouble (I'm starting to recall when I last saw your name, and it was the same kind of empty posturing and baiting that we're seeing now). Deal with it? Why I am. I don't believe your claims, I think you're a liar, and I think you're a fool. Deal with that.</font>

The last time you got angry with me was because I had the "audacity" to ask for a more user-friendly editor- the ability to add different units or landscapes easily. Such as a Lunar surface or a Tropical jungle. What's the big deal with that? You could have the next big thing here... I'm not being an ass because I have an idea that I think MANY could appreciate.

LOL I'm not above the humour- it IS funny- the whole damn world needs a patch... not just the 3rd Reich...

You are well beneath humour. What needs patching is between your ears.

You started up an entire thread that made very large accusations.

    You supported them with:

One thing you were completely stupid about: the inability to turn off bases in setup mode)

And another thing you were completely out of line about: the graphics of TCs on small, early war tanks.

Since then, you've continued to post like a fecking idjit, trying to laugh-off your obvious stupidities, never once justifying or elaborating on your libelous claims regarding the game (which, may we just point out again, seem to be based on your own sodding lack of intelligence), and generally acting like an obnoxious arsehole of the first water.

Thank gods you have single-handedly interested thousands of people in the game!

Although this seems a little hard to believe, since you clearly have no bloody clue about the game.

Oh, feel free to cover your almost incomprehensible lack of embarrasment and unwillingness to admit your error by calling me a 'fan boy', you useless git.</font>

...are the weeks threads going to disappear this time again after our last titanic battle?
Only time any threads were lost was when our harddisk filled up and UBB wasn't smart enough to check before overwriting files. Thankfully this disaster only happened once (and it was a disaster) and now UBB has seen fit to add some safety features to their software.

Or were you implying that I deleted some threads because I didn't like what you had to say? This is, of course, not true so I hope you aren't saying this. But after seeing how you operate I wouldn't put it past you to think so. After all, CMBB *must* suck because all we did for the last 2 years was make unrealistically fat crewmen...

Again, my advice to you is quit while you are behind. Drop the attitude and either play the game now or wait for the 1.01 patch. But in any case, zip it until you have even a hint of a clue what you are talking about.

Indicitive of the uniformed childish rant you displayed thus far? On this point I happily agree. You are more concerned with being angry than being accurate. More driven to be abusive than constructive. More... oh well, I guess I made my point smile.gif

Okay, Steve, I'm gonna take you seriously for a minute. A lot of early war armored vehicles were more or less that size and had two or three man crews. Wait until we get to CM4 and you'll get to see a lot of them. They may have been cramped and uncomfortable, but they existed. Furthermore, the growth in volume of armored vehicles over the course of the war was much more due to the need for more space for bigger guns, larger ammo, bigger engines, need for more fuel tankage, more radio equipment, added crewmembers, etc. than to a tender concern for the crew's comfort.

You will not like CMBB, it is not meant for you, you will be frustrated by it, the graphics is too "ugly" for you, and you doan have the time to read the manuals for all the keystrokes involved, CMBB will not fully utilised your hardware, CMBB is not REAL-TIME enuff for you.And worst still "thereisnomonkey" won't work as God-mode in CMBB, there is simply no cheat available.

All in all, you will benefit more by NOT playing CMBB: you get to save money and no-one is gonna flame you for posting in the forums, you will not get frustrated by the community, the game or BFC.

Whatever man- I am single-handedly responsible for getting people hooked on the original many times over- now I just feel a little embarrassed that when others took my advice, they played the CMBB demo and wondered what all the fuss I was making was about. Don't confuse my wide taste in games as an inability to like or comprehend this game. I play everything from Medieval to Europa Universalis (Hearts of Iron is looking hot BTW) to Space Empires to Rally Trophy to MSFS 2K2 to Doom to CMBO. Like I stated originally, the original was awesome- this game needs patches.

Well, before you get your panties in a knot, Vergeltungswaffe, I never said I would NEVER play the game again, I simply stated that I didn't want to play it in it's present condition? Do you object to my choice of free will?

No, I don't think the game is finished- and by the sounds of it, some people here agree with me. Nothing personal to you Vergeltungswaffe, but at least I know I'm playing an alpha version with D3- I never expected to be a beta tester for CMBB however.

And before I just delete the folder, where is the documentation that says I should just remove the folder? Which page in the manual? Since there's no proper index, I can't even look it up.

No twisted panties here. You absolutely have your choice of free will and I made/make no objections to it. Merely the observation that you don't think this game is finished, but you want to go play one that is barely started.

As far as some people agreeing with you. Yep, some people do. Probably several dozen out of the 10k+ folks registered here.

I thought you didn't buy the game? If you are referring to the "manual" that you downloaded with the demo, then sorry it doesn't have a computer primer in it. If you have no uninstall or add/remove option, then how would get rid of anything? Delete it.

CMBO went through a number of patches to finally arrive at 1.12. CMBB will no doubt go through a few too. But not to finish it, to make it better.

I should have never read this thread. Its trolling at its finest. You're fully entitled to your opinion, but theres not much to be gained with that kind of rant.

    I'm outta here and I won't be back.[/QB]</font>
