So do I have the freedom to beat up black people or steal from a neighbour? Of course not.

Your freedom isn't in danger, I am just presenting my opinion to you, which is that doctoring WW2 photos with animal faces in the hope of raising a cheap laugh, is plain bad taste.

Oh, please. Hate crime/assault and theft are illegal. My putting fluffy lil' critter pictures into another isn't. You can't compare the two. =)

If my taste so displeases you feel free not to view my posts. =)

(scurries off to "vandalize" more pictures)

ROFL I had to bite my tongue REALLY hard to refrain from making a similar comment . . . the doctor says he can maybe reattach it. =/

I still think that it is very bad taste, and attempting to excuse these stupid actions doesn't make it any better.

Why can't you stick to doctoring Combat Mission screenshots, and leave the WW2 shots well alone?

So I see you really are unable to present a legitimate argument. (shrug) That's cool, dude. =) I wasn't attempting to excuse anything I've done, just trying to show you that it's not the monsterous act that you perceive it to be.

I can't stick to doctoring screenshots 'cause a) I don't know how to take one. B) they are too small. =( I'll continue to post whatever and whenever I want to until the moderators of this board tell me I can't. Freedom. Isn't that what the guys in the pictures fought for?

Ps - Don't call me stupid, please. =)

  4. OK. Here's the original that I got from the book. Notice anything odd about the picture? There's a German grenade laying next to them at the left. Now look at their facial expressions. To me it appears that they're definately posing and maybe, just maybe (I see it mostly in Mellet's face) trying to keep from smiling because of their, I suspect, unknown addition to the photo. Maybe I'm wrong but it wouldn't surprise me if they did this on purpose. Having a sense of humor about things can help people cope under stressful situations. Ask any cop you might see.

Don't you people have any taste at all?

Those soldiers originally in the photo have quite probably been killed while on foreign soil, and all you can do is vandalise their image by carving away their faces and substituting them for hamsters.

"You people?" I was only one who did the "vandalizing" so blame me. As for the fates of the original individuals in the picture, they are both from Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. The gunner is Walter Gordon, who was wounded at Bastogne by a bullet which pierced both shoulders and "brushed his spinal column" in the process, rendering him temporarily paralyzed. He was walking again at the end of the war. The second man was Frank Mellet, KIA during the Ardennes Offensive. Got the info and picture from Stephen Ambrose "Band of Brothers." If I didn't care about them why would I bother finding out their fates?

"Vandalizing" their picture, as you put it, is not "all I can do." It wasn't done to show any disrespect or ingratitude for what these men did during the war, I hold them in nothing but the highest esteem. I really don't think that if either of the people in this picture were to see it right now that they would react as violently and and negatively as you have.

The altered picture has NOTHING to do with them. I saw it and happened to think it would be a good one to retouch so I did. Now, if I had put lil' cartoon dot dot dot clouds over their heads, left their faces intact and written something about them having depraved thoughts or something, you'd have a point. As it stands now, you really don't.

I can take this one step further by posting the original picture and point something out to you that Ambrose in his caption seems to have missed. Wait here and I'll try to do it now . . .

PBICQ rules. What's not working about it, Snot? I can't help you if you don't tell the nurse your symptoms. =D ICQ always works for me and Todd. Even worked for us playing Vampi and Lank, and they're about as lame as they come! :o

    Hey,

You know, sometimes I make the assumption that everyone knows as much as I do already. Thanks for pointing that out. I have addressed both the 800x600 issue and the explanation of the PBEM chart this morning (as well as some minor corrections). Let me know if that explanation makes sense.

Kitty, you have discovered one of the great truths of life, shooting machineguns is FUN, really fun. smile.gif Good clean fun that lots

of folks around the country enjoy all the time. And not just here in the U.S., there are some other cool countries, like Finland

(just ask Tommi smile.gif ), where you can own machineguns, too.

Yea, it was way fun. =) I know a guy from this online game I used to play, he was from one of the Scandanavian countries, can't recall which one. He sent me a picture of himself when he was about 10 years old firing a Sten gun. =D

The book "German Automatic Weapons of World War II" by Robert Bruce is a good reference.

Shows detailed step by step field-stripping, close ups, live firing using ammunition from the period. Lots of color photos of the various weapons being fired and field stripped with comments.

I have that one too, Tiger. It's neat. =)
