  1. One of the issues is that the ladders are inevitably populated with many VGr's. Thier sole purpose in playing is to win and climb the ladder to be top dog. I have nothing against the way they play it simply is different than the way I play. I prefer scenario's for many reasons others have stated. QB's are like a Doom Deathmatch IMHO. One nice solution would be a ladder that ONLY allows historical play. I think that this would solve alot of issues that are always creeping up on the ladders right now. My 2 cents... Rondor
  2. I agree but too many ladder players are out to WIN at all costs. Rushing all your recon vehicles (purchased for this reason only) so as to get a fix on the enemy without regard to the fact that they are certainly going to die. I want to win as much as anyone but try and treat my men with respect and use "real-world" tactics and not whatever it takes to extend my winning record. I dont call it cheating but it's just a matter of style. Rondor
  3. prefer scenario. I like to play for fun. I have found that the ladders are too gamey for me as I hope to use realistic tactics rather than some of the stuff I have seen go on. I am game for either side....small or large battle/op
  4. I would like to play as a Co Cdr. Either side is fine...whereever a mediocre leadre is needed. <grin> cbryer@earthlink.net (until my new cable services goes in at the end of Sept. !!)
  5. I have the Voodoo5 5500 AGP card and my driver (had to download from the site) is version 4.12.01.0584 dated 7/9/2000. I had the same problem as you and downloading this driver cleared it right up.
  6. I assume those that are posting all the great shots in the various CM sites are using a screenshot util. Can anyone recommend one (hopefully freeware/shareware) that I can download? Thanks in advance... Rondor
  7. My apologies for the misplacement of my post. I love it just the same! Rondor
  8. **SPOILER INFO....SCROLL DOWN TO READ** I played the first battle as the Ami's last night as well. Observations as follows; a) The map is fantastic. As mentioned in the email there are design limitations in CM which prohibit an exact duplication. The SS basically walked into the pincer that is the default Ami set up. Of course the Ami's lost all but one Sherman but the Germans lost at least twice as many tanks and I think all thier Tigers. In the beginning of the second battle (which I saved for today) the GI's have alot more room to set up in front of thier positions than the first battle. Unfortunately, this setup area is in the rolling no man's land. c) Battle 2 looks like it could be a little tougher as my reinforcements dont include much useful armor. Next report will come later today/tomorrow. Rondor
  9. Being a mediocre ASL veteran myself I would enjoy playtesting and trying to help out. Email is cbryer@earthlink.net and ICQ is 6795442.
  10. I would like to learn the games finer points. Small to Medium size...either side. A benevolent teacher type would be nice.... email is cbryer@earthlink.net ICQ is 6795442
  11. Hooray! I received my full version today! I downloaded the newest patch (cm105.sit.bin) and do not know how to get it to "install". It is not an .exe file so I am kinda lost. Thanks in advance... Rondor
  12. Hi: Sorry for the late reply but was doing some long range recon in North Carolina. The answer to your question is yes...the pics and 1.11 file are in the same folder on my desktop. Please dont get too frustrated with your project. Despite the tweaks it needs it is an awesome help and you have obviously put a huge amount of work into it. Best Regards, Rondor
