I assume you are referring to the images you get when you have the "view" option of "as webpage" turned on? If so go to view and click off the "as webpage". You will probably have to set this as the default look by going into "view" , "Folder options", "view" and click the "like current folder" button.

Save me from drowning in my own drool and email it here mudansha@dingoblue.net.au, if its not going up on a web server soon that is.
Any chance of doing the same with the Tiger?

Churchill's and Panthers. I learnt to respect panthers when my opponent drove past my 3 piats, 11 shots later (range 40-100m all at side armour) it was still driving away. He didnt know where the shots where coming from as piats remain hidden quite easily. The panther then came face to face with my Jumbo which it destroyed in three shots, jumbo only managed to immobilise Panther (range <50M), to be eventually be taken out by my Daimler from the side.
Was not my day I expect.

Pud - Climbs into concrete bunk, puts on kevlar armour, crawls under table.

As a suggestion, if like the sound of mortars in CC3 et al, could always grab a wav file from there and use that. I intend to do this one of these days, assuming it can be done.
Pud - checks to see if barrage has stopped, emerges from bunker.

This is superb!!!

I was thinking about doing a super hi-res of a tiger, ie increasing the pmb size by x2 (largest being 1024x512). If they were done only on expensive tanks the drain on graphic power wouldnt be great (only 1-2 units in a battle) when compared to terrain but the look would be very good.

People object to Sturmtigers etc because they are really rare. Why couldnt a rarity factor be built into the game much like CC3 (ducks for cover!!) so they are not always available in any given QB? That way the purists are happy and the what-if crowd can get the jollies as well?
I expect this idea has been thrashed in previous threads or already considered by BTS.

Archer, the designer of this thing must now be working for Bill Gates!
Jeeps? I find them great for getting that Piat or Sniper way out on front on big maps to ambush tanks/commanders. They are the fastest vehicle and can cover HUGE distances. If they get hit the other player will more than likely assume the bailed "Inf?" is its crew. Hide the dumped/bailed assassin till the time is right. Be "gamey" and have the real crew get killed off and the player will assume theres nothing left.

Good points, I was only thinking from a total battle angle not from the point of the pilot being unable to really be sure if its just stopped or is immobile.

I wouldnt expect its 20mm(?) cannon to take out a tiger? Which it didnt after numerous passes. In that time the Inf and the Puma would have both been KO'd. A immobile tiger I would think would be a far less a threat than all other active units. eg I have taken out an immobile Panther with a 40mm armed Daimler (2 shots), I also have taken out an immobile Tiger with 2 squads of Brit paras (smoked it and rushed in). Which is my point, immobile tanks are vulnerable to all sorts of attacks, and therefor fighter straffing should be redirected to a mobile threat that it has a reasonable kill chance.
I gather I am alone in this line of thinkng.

I did a test recently with airsupport against a tiger and a puma (IIRC) and some Inf. The fighter bombered the tiger, immobilising it. I then thought it would turn its cannon onto the puma or troops on the next pass. It didnt but proceeded to waist each pass trying to shoot the tiger rather than the Puma or the troops. It didnt do anything to the tiger which just sat there in comfort. This was not with the lastest version however so Im hoping this has been corrected in recent patches.

I must be missing something (my brain maybe?). I play QB's and I only ever get the choice between 2 types. Veterans and Regular. The rest are grayed out. If I change the troop settings in the QB setup, some other combination (2 types) becomes available depending on that setting but I never get to choose from the full list, eg have green and elite in the same battle. What have I missed?

I have done a search on my question but could not find a answer so here goes (sorry if it has already been asked/answered).
Does BTS plan in making it possible to play quick battles with premade maps. The auto generated ones sometimes arent too interesting. A patch perhaps or is this in the plans for CM2?
Thanks

It should be great, when it comes out (next year). The first 2 were both superb games.

he must have one of those CPU's which intel recalled, you know the ones that had the floating point error. Hey it sounds like a good excuse and im sticking with it

Thanks for the info KwazyDog.

Just wondering, is BTS considering using mp3 files for the sound in CM2 or will they be sticking with the larger, poorer quality wav format or going to the smaller, clearer mp3 format. If not, perhaps its something to consider?

No baggage in a MG Jeep, , there goes "drive-like-crazy-to-the-front-line-dump-your-sniper-in-a-good-pozzy-and-carry-on-to-harrass-those-FO-which-will-be-on-that-distant-hill-in-turn-1" tactic!!

Hehe, Pud, I see in your map making FAQ that someone (maybe you?) finially found out what was causing that damn auto-redraw error in my map making program

yes I do have that , now, forgotten honour of working out why it did that. PS great programme by the way.

I loved cc3, played it every chance i got for 18 months (or so). Even went to the extent of doing a map for it (Puds Map)if interested. But when CC4 came bubbling into existance like some odd substance from a blocked toilet. I gave it up. CM has all those things that CC should have had, but Mr Z never bothered to put in , eg towable arty, accurate units stats. I cant see myself going back (to cc3) for a year or two (depending on the release of CM2).

Is this inability of vehicle mounted morters not utilising leaders as spotters going to be fixed in a future patch? Would be nice.

Yep. try that database, its an Excel spreadsheet, you will need excel 97/2000, or grab the excel viewer. Has images, stats on vehicle and inf. hes yet to do guns etc.

Oops, Slightly OT, but I gotta know..."Stalingrad"
in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)

Personally , I loved it, seen it numerous times. It came across to me as a no bull$#!? look at war. Not like SPR which to me had the old "arent all germans nasty nazi pigdogs who deserve to die and the allies are all great humanitarians" modern day propaganda designed to appeal to certain audiences. Stalingrad is worth watching and keeping. To me it was a unbiased look at the horror of war.
