1. Yes, please send me your setup. I never played PBM before, so please be patient... ------------------ "I am no fool!" Michael
2.
quote:
Only 72%? That was kinda cheap don't you think, especially since other magazines and sites have given it between 85 and 95%.

No, I think the overall rating of 72% is quite fair. Don´t forget: -GameStar very seldomly rates games over 90% -they rate for an average computer gaming public; of course we folks around here would(grognardus vulgaris) consider anything under 90% a blasphemy but the average computer-quake-command&conquer-diablo-NeedforSpeed gamer (at least here in Germany = ComputerBild) won´t give a heck about CM -with 5 out of 5 in the gameplay category CM got the best possible rating, and concerning graphics and sounds (and maybe even the multiplayer aspect) let´s face the truth: CM is not a major player in those aspects As for the other ratings: maybe other game magazines only compare games within similar categories (eg. strategy, action, etc.). And certain internet site awards are surely biased. I mean, wargaming sites will be much more benevolent to CM than non-related sites. Just my two Pfennig ------------------ "I am no fool!" Michael
3. Hmm, I´m out of the PG-series since Allied General. Not because it turned so bad since that time, but I missed the info-window in PanzerGeneral 3D and a few other interface thingies. Anyway, PG and better sound? I think I have to take a look at this masterpiece of symphony Really, has anyone played it yet? What are your thoughts? ------------------ "I am no fool!" Michael
4. I am up for a game. Please send me your setup. I can post 5 days a week. It will be my first PBM, so please be patient with me Thx, ------------------ "I am no fool!" Michael
5. Cool, I never thought they would review CM at all and therefore I sent them an email about a month ago. Maybe that was their reaction, since they didn´t answer at all... In my opinion, GameStar is definitely the best german PC games magazine. 72% might seem to be not enough for our board, but I think it is justified. Don´t forget, those guys get to test the "cream" of modern PC games, and compared to newest graphic standards a "satisfactory" is the best CM could possibly get. Anyway, 5 out of 5 for "gameplay" is what really matters... Is it in the newest issue? ------------------ "I am no fool!" Michael
6. This is my last try. And I thought I was "no fool" ------------------ "I am no fool!" Michael
7. Oh well, maybe now... ------------------ "I am no fool!" Michael
8. Please tell me if it worked this time... ------------------ "I am no fool!" Michael
9. Oops, sorry about the pic, I still have to figure this out Abbott is completely right. It´s a Vickers MG with 65375 rounds of ammo. I dunno about the version the scenario was made with, since it´s David Aitkens scenario I downloaded from the scenario depot. I play with 1.05 patch, so if this maybe is a scenario created with an older version will there be problems? Thank you all, ------------------ "I am no fool!" Michael
10. No one else interested? ------------------ "I am no fool!" Michael
11. Sorry, but that was with 1.05 patch... ------------------ DaMilli
12. Look at the ammo! Has this been encountered before? I know, those brits were tough guys, but still... Thanks, ------------------ DaMilli
13. David, I really enjoyed your scenario tonight, playing as the Brits against the computer. You really caught the european city style. The first twenty minutes were a fierce battle about who controls the mansion. I took it after heavy infantry losses and even lost two out of three tanks due to this pesky PAK50 on the other side of the river. I managed to destroy the Marder and Tiger with the Cromwell tank that survived the first AT-battle (by hiding behind the house near the bridge). After my engineers cleared the bridge, it was only a matter of time concerning my victory. Final stats were about 300 (AI) to 200 casualties. The german MG groups have very strong positions on the other side of the bridge, but the AI doesn´t hold it´s fire for an ambush and therby reveals it´s position. The best way to clear those houses was simply to blow them up by concentrated fire from three allied tanks. That way it took only two turns for heavy buildings and together with the flamethrowers I collapsed 4 buildings. Just two suggestions: At first, my men had serious problems crossing the river at the two fords since the slopes were just to steep. Maybe you could lower the tiles at this position. Second, wouldn´t a flamethrower tank be a nice addition to the initial british setup? Keep up the good work, I really loved this map and will play it from the german side ASAP. Thanks, ------------------ DaMilli
14. Thank you, now I´m enlightened ------------------ DaMilli
15. Could someone be so nice to explain to me what "trolling" means? I did a search on this, but since I am no native speaker I can´t get the point, although it seemed to be connected with flaming. My dictionary is not very helpful either (troll = monster; to troll = to roll, turn, tumble???) Thank you, ------------------ DaMilli
16. Sorry, no way except to save each turn separately... ------------------ DaMilli
17. You got the point, I simply overwrote the scenario file. This happened because I was not careful enough AND the default folder is set the way it is. I am simply asking if this could be fixed. Thx,
18. Could the default folder for selfmade-scenarios be changed to "Cmbo\Scenarios"? I learned it the hard way and toasted a nice scenario ... Thx,
