They're used for rendering animations and high graphic stuff. People with SGI machines, or running many PC's in parallel.

You need to delete the prefs file in the Combat Mission folder. This is what saves the config you're using. Otherwise, you need to set your desktop resolution to the maxium you want to play at to get more options. Do that before launching the game after deleting the prefs file.

I'm playing at 1280 x 1024
I've played at 1600 x 1200 and it is beautiful (and playable at that res), but I'm sticking to my default of 1280 x 1024 for now.

New bumpy grass textures posted. I'd like to see people's comments on them.
1. Better than the game defaults?
2. Better than MadMatt's grass?
3. Good/Bad for seeing elevations?

I finally finished reading the entire manual, and I am so glad I did. I am amazed at the depth this simulation has.
At first I was disappointed with the grpahics a bit, but as I turned up my screen res to 1280x1024, it now looks and plays wonderful. 1600x1200 is even more incredible!
Just wanted to say Thank You, and if it were not for such good reviews, I would have never tried this game.

Just wondering of there is a difference in color quality - if you run the game at 32-bit color depth as opposed to 16-bit color depth?

It's hard to say. I haven't played enough...
I think most of the terrain graphics look a nit washed out... I'd liketo see your set when you're done. Do you have a website?
Have you tried any of the current mods?
