  1. I suggest making the fuel and ammo depots and the comm center just regular buildings instead of emplacements, maybe set apart a little ways from other buildings and flagged for capture value. Then put your troops or bunkers around or inside, depending on the kind of building, guarding them. Maybe toss in some flamethrowers on the Allied side which are tasked to torch the buildings, but OTOH, that may be a little 'gamey'. (Can't figure out what's so wrong with that word, after all, we ARE playing a GAME here.) Why? It seems more realistic to me that way. I can't imagine an ammo dump spouting HMG fire, even if it is green. And its too small to be an ammo dump. Other than that minor quibble, it sounds ultra cool. Sounds like a bitch to playbalance though...good luck!! DeanCo-- [This message has been edited by deanco (edited 07-18-2000).]
  2. The hits just keep on comin'...how about a right-button click and hold to scroll the map? Currently the held right button draws a selection box like the left, so it's 'free for action'! And to top it off, steal the mouse scroll feature from Shogun. The top 2/3 of the sides of the screen is used to turn the viewpoint, and the bottom 1/3 'sidesteps' the view left and right. A brilliant feature, that, IMO. DeanCo--
  3. Oh yeah, while I'm on the subject, where is the 'Halt' keyboard command? Seems like everything has been hotkeyed except the 'oops, I screwed up AGAIN' button. Someone? DeanCo--
  4. Hi all, My suggestion is for a "Toggle Display State" button. Let me explain. During the planning phase I like to have as much info as possible on the screen to aid my decision making. However, once my turn is finished, I prefer watching the movie with very little or no data to enhance the realistic aspect. (OK, OK, to get off on the graphics...lord knows they need a tiny bit of help!) So I find myself continually hitting shift-c, shift-p 3 times, shift...you get the picture, I hope. So my idea is for a "Save Display State 1" and "Save Display State 2" button which would save the current display config so you could toggle between them using a "Toggle Display State" button. It seems like it would be useful, but I'm not a hardcore wargamer, so I'm posting to see what everybody thinks about it. BTW, what a fantastic forum this is. I laugh, I am informed, I sympathize when I read the posts here. Now I feel like raving about how great CM is, but I'll save it for another post later, breakfast time... DeanCo--
  5. Well, I'm an American living in Paris, so I guess I'll have to answer for our French friends, since they are all at the Champs de Mars watching the fireworks! Me, I'm gonna wait till I hear 'boom, boom' outside my window then step out on the balcony and watch it. And in the meantime, I probably got enough time for a couple turns of Combat Mission (see, I got this thread back on topic!! DeanCo--
