1. I also have an ATI Rage Pro as my primary video card, and it's built into the motherboard which is why I went with a Voodoo2 as a secondary card in an open PCI slot. You can probably get a Voodoo2 cheap. Over at 3dfx.com they have a generic DirectX7 driver which works fine on CM and pretty much all other games. I am running a P2-400 and never have any slowdowns in CM running at 800x600.
2. Nahverteidigungswafferichtigbuchstabierung... Say, wasn't that the song Julie Andrews sang in the German version of "Mary Poppins"??
3.
quote:
Originally posted by Crank_GS: 3. Has anyone converted the ASL Scenario (from ASL Annual 97) called "Scouts Out"? It is my favorite, and I have been stalled in playing it out for a year.

When you go to the ASL2CM.CJB.NET site be sure to check out the forum. Col Klotz has a catagory there where persons can post which scenarios they are working on.
4.
quote:
If you have an AGP slot just get a Geforce MX.

If you don't have an open AGP slot you also run the game on a 12MB Voodoo2, that's what I have. The smoke is a little blocky but then CM isn't QUAKE III anyway [This message has been edited by markgame (edited 08-04-2000).]
5. I have just become the "Zealot" (kind of a curator) for the Combat Mission links over at Zeal.com. The specific URL is: http://www.zeal.com/Recreation/Games/Computer/By_Title/Combat_Mission/ I have posted a number of CM related links and will be posting more. How is this different than other link pages? Well, for starters, you may rate each linked site, so that others may know which ones you think are good sites. Also you can submit links or post discussion messages. So please come over and give us your opinions!
6. Does anyone have suggestions on how to win this mission as the Allies? It seems to me that I would be hard pressed to get my weary troops off the map edge by the time limit even without any enemy troops taking potshots. And the reinforcements seem pretty useless except for the two tanks, since the foot troops can't get to the battle area and then get back off the map by the end of the scenario either.
7. Great page Simon and some thought provoking arguements. I like the tank matchup illustrations, too!
8. As a longtime Squad Leader fan I am similarly afflicted. When I used to live in Colorado I would picture the landscape around me broken up into hexes. As I would drive through the mountain passes I would take note of all the good ambush points for future reference. Now with CM, I think I will have to scan in the exterior views of the building where I work, so that I can put it into a scenario!
9. I have done a search in the forum for tips on the tutorial, but didn't find anything specific regarding maintaining the health and well-being of my Shermans. I did follow the steps and suggestions in the tutorial section of the manual, but I always seem to lose both my tanks without causing the Germans more than a single tank casualty. I tried staying hull down below the slight rise on the roadway and also used the "hull down" ideas suggested on pages 66-67 but it's still no dice for the tankers. Any advice?
10. I don't know why everybody is giving the designers such a hard time about this. I'm sure they weren't expecting the Spanish Inquisition...
